Cheap Sheets - explanantion inside

Mommy2Isabella wrote: I need to get 2 sets of sheets for our bed for after I have the baby. Because we won't be in the hospital the midwife suggets we get some cheap sheets ...

we have a king size bed ... wondering if anyone has seen sheets on sale or something. They are going to tossed probably so we don't want to spend a lot on them.

Keep an eye out if you don't mind and let me know if you spot some ... smile.gif

grapfruit replied: Hmm...do you think maybe you can use your normal sheets and use a rubber sheet down by the area that's going to be messy, and then put a cheapy full sized sheet over that?

Does that make sense? B/c I KNOW the smaller ones are way cheaper!

Also check like Big Lots and the Dollar store. Sometime they have sheets that are cheap. Otherwise, Wal-mart.

luvmykids replied: Walmart, Kmart, etc.

Mommy2Isabella replied: ah ha .. I didn't think of that casey ... I think that would work just fine!! And I could get a full size sheet set for like 10 bucks smile.gif

Calimama replied: Walmart? Won't you need a plastic covering for the mattress too?

ETA: Where are you like doing the pushing? A tub or the bed? Just curious..

Mommy2Isabella replied: Ya I have to get a waterproff sheet, I will feel like a little kid, LOL Bella has one on her bed ... hahaha!!!

Sal made a good point, I move a lot in my sleep, and the full sheet would move and get bunched up. I think we will just get some plain ol' king sheets even though those are going to be like 20 bucks ... lol OH WELL!!

grapfruit replied:
Well you only need it for when you're pushing him out right???

Just put it under you when the time comes.

Mommy2Isabella replied: NO NO NO!! lol ...

Im not having him in my bed ... YUCK (don't want to offend anyone but I would NEVER) ...

We are doing a waterbirth. The sheets are for like after I have him, and to protect our mattress from the PPB that you normally get the worst of when in the hospital, but since I will be at home ... thats where it will happen. LOL !!

Calimama replied:
I have a home birth question!! What if you tear and need stitches? Does the midwife have the sewing stuff and just does it at your house? I'm clueless. emlaugh.gif

Mommy2Isabella replied: If I do tear * Crossing Fingers * which I am already taking "measures" to help prevent it ...

ANYWAYS ... if I do depending on the severity of the tear she will just fix it up here or if I need SERIOUS stitches she will take me to the hospital. She hasn't ever had anyone tear to the point they needed to go to the hospital though ... so ... lets see smile.gif

Calimama replied:
Ohh that makes sense! Thanks for answering my questions.. It's really interesting!!! wub.gif

grapfruit replied:
Ah, yea, sounds like you'lll need king sized then.

Mommy2Isabella replied: lol, no problem ... I have been fielding questions from family for 2 months now ... they have some OFF ones ... so ASK AWAY!!

Cece00 replied: I would just get the king sized mattress cover (waterproof) and then get those chuck pads they use in the hospital....do you know what I am talking about? You can get a couple of packs of them for cheap, try a medical supply store. I'd still get the waterproof cover b/c not everyone CAN push in the tub, so you may end up pushing somewhere else, and if its your bed...you'll want a waterproof cover.

I've seen sheets on sale for $20 or so, try Kohls & Target
