Chemo Has Started
Kirstenmumof3 wrote: Spencer started Chemo yesterday morning at 3:00. He has 4 sessions a day (3:00, 9:00, 3:00 and then again at 9:00), they last 2 hours long. He is tolerating things really well, but has become so grouchy. One of the other moms on this unit has warned me that they go through this angry phase and not take any of this personally. He is on so many medications right now.I'm not getting much sleep, we are in an isolation room. Even though he isn't in isolation yet, they didn't have any other room for us. It is so small and cramped in here. I really need to get into Ronald McDonald House. Just to have somewhere to put our luggage. The teacher has come bye today and will be back later to arrange a time for Spencer. We need to get a routine started, get some sort of normal life back.

jcc64 replied: Big, big hugs to you guys. I can't imagine how stressful the entire thing must be. A lack of a routine can only be exacerbating an already difficult situation. I hope something opens up for you at Ronald McDonald house soon. Can the hospital suggest any alternatives in the meantime?
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Big hugs for you, Spencer, and your family. Good luck to Spencer, I hope he keeps tolerating the chemo well. I hope you get into Ronald McDonald house soon, too.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: He has 4 days of one kind and then 4 days of another kind. The next Round of chemo is only once a day, but it's much stronger and there are a lot more side affects.

Not sure if I mentioned it in a previous post of yours, but my husband had cancer a few years ago (he was 20) but was treated @ St. Jude's. He had chemo & radiation, etc. We werent together then but we were friends & even though it was hard he pulled through and I know your son will do the same.
My3LilMonkeys replied: I'm glad that you've found a room. I hope the gravol helps Spencer.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: I think it's just the type of chemo that it is. The next one is only once a day, but they want him peeing every 2 hours, because it is very toxic on the bladder.
fashionmumofboys replied: Keeping Spencer in my thoughts and prayers.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Kirsten you are all in my prayers. I'm sure it isn't easy to watch him go thru this. Especially when there isn't much you can do to help him.

I'm sorry Spencer has to go through all this, poor little guy. But, he is one strong cookie. I hope the chemo goes by quickly and Spencer will have a quick and full recovery.
