Christmas Dresses

MommyToAshley wrote: I am sure I said the same thing last year -- but, I hate shopping for Christmas dresses. They always make the dresses for little girls look so grown up. It's even worse now that Ashley is out of the "toddler" sizes. She wears a 6x or 7 and it is proving to be impossible to find a cute little girl's holiday dress. Everything is strapless and too grown up. mad.gif

Cece00 replied: WHAT??? I've seen a million cute & tasteful ones. I've been looking for long sleeve cotton dresses (WHY are those so hard to find???) and since its Christmas time, all I am seeing is Christmas dresses.

I saw cute & tasteful ones today @ Target...and what about Hanna Andersson?

coasterqueen replied: I know the feeling. Kylie actually found one at Penny's a few months back when we were shopping for a rehearsal dress for that Sept. wedding she was in. I hated buying it so early but she saw it, wanted it, and I decided why not. It's plain creme, sleeveless, but then I found a sweater to go over it. She wears a size 6. I haven't checked at Penny's recently, but when we bought Kylie's they had several that didn't look too grown up for that size.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I have not really looked. I usualy get one from flordia (grandma sends one) I am not sure if she will send one this year. The one I was going to use in our family pic is not really christmasy its pink and black. I do agree I dont like the 6 and up clothes way to grown up looking. Even some 5's are to much for me.

MommyToAshley replied:
I saw some cute ones at Target too, but they only went up to size 5T. sad.gif

I'll try JCPenny's... I'm just not a huge fan of the mall. Geesh, when I was a teenager, I lived at the mall -- I never would have guessed that I would say that. LOL!

My2Beauties replied: I was also going to suggest Penney's, they have a huge selection of them and they are a good price too. I always find that WalMart, Target etc...has cutesie ones for the toddler sizes (which Hanna still wears thank goodness) but when you look in the older girls section they're not really what I'd like my daughter to be wearing. sleep.gif

holley79 replied: I don't know if you have one there but Dillards has some really cute Holiday Dresses this year.

Cece00 replied: Here are some links to dresses...not sure exactly what you like but just to give you an idea...

Cece00 replied:
I saw 2 REALLY cute ones @ Target in the big girls section...might be worth another look, or go to a different Target maybe?

luvmykids replied:
I was going to suggest them too, I saw some great ones last week. And suprisingly, Sears had some gorgeous ones.

stella6979 replied: Sears has some really cute ones too and most of the stuff I saw on-line was on sale. thumb.gif
Here's the dress we got for Avery from there. I just love it. wub.gif

she didn't hate it but she didn't love it either but that's too bad! I thought it was cute! laugh.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: thumb.gif I would try Sears, they had some really nice ones.

jcc64 replied: What about Talbot's Kids? Very pricey but classic and tasteful. Also Gymboree, though I don't know how big their sizes go? Corey's still in the 3T range!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I got Maddie's at Dillards on clearance this summer. ohmy.gif It's beautiful, long and classy. wub.gif It's a size 7.

I can't believe Maddie and Ashley are in the same size!!! Who will I give her hand me downs to now? wink.gif laugh.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied:
you can send them to me biggrin.gif laugh.gif

luvmykids replied:
*cough cough* rolling_smile.gif

MotherForever2043 replied: I was going to suggest Macys. My work is having this huge holiday party so, I had to go buy them some new outfits. I got these for Jordan and Amber. They seem to have a good variety.

Jamison'smama replied:
Ummm, can I make a suggestion smile.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied: You can get great deals on Hanna stuff on EBay. None of their stuff is "old" looking. Also, I've gotten very nice dresses at Kohl's, JC Penny and Macy's. You will have to wade through the hooker styles there.

lovemy2 replied: I actually got Olivia a beautiful dress for the holidays at a consignment shop in early September thumb.gif - $7 thumb.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Okay. Di, Mon and Brenda...you guys are on my list! I'm going to start going thru clothes next week. thumb.gif I'll let you know what sizes I have. wink.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Okay, I'm feeling a bit out of the loop here!!!!!!!! rolleyes.gif I want to talk girl stuff! sad.gif

Anyhow, I can't believe they sell strapless for little girls...Wow! Okay, that's all I can contribute. Just like men have no trouble finding something to wear, takes them five minutes in a store, my boys get a sweater and slacks for the holidays...DONE. laugh.gif rolling_smile.gif Sorry, have fun shopping! thumb.gif

Celestrina replied:
I worked in the mall for over four years and you wouldn't believe what they make for little kids. Some of the stuff seems to cater to parents that expect their kids to become hookers someday. What scares me more is that parents actually buy this crud. Santa was right in front of our store every year. I would get a little jealous when I'd see a little girl in an adorable red velvet dress, and thankful I had a boy when I'd see one dressed like a tramp.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Try Costco Dee Dee. I found Taylor the most adorable dress there! I will post a picture of it! wub.gif

Oh and Aimee wavey.gif Tay is still in 6's rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif

Crystalina replied: Ugh! I haven't even started looking for dresses yet. blink.gif I'm sure by the time I'm ready they'll all be gone.

julesmom replied: Have you tried gymboree? My 5yr old is in a sz 6x/7 also, mainly for length.

Here's a link: http://www.gymboree.com/shop/dept_category.jsp

punkeemunkee'smom replied: user posted image

Dee Dee here is Taylor's Christmas dress. wub.gif She picked it out herself-it seems the 'sewing elves' must have made it for it to look so close to a santa suit! laugh.gif wub.gif She is going to wear it to the Nutcracker ballet wub.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Dee Dee, what about places like Ross? Wouldn't they have some?

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Abbie that dress is GORGEOUS!!! ohmy.gif wub.gif Tay will be beautiful in it!

Kaitlin'smom replied:
biggrin.gif

luvmykids replied: Do you have a TJ Maxx or Marshalls near you? I was in both stores today and they had GORGEOUS and very classic Christmas dresses. I almost jipped Nikka out of a bday present to buy one laugh.gif

moped replied: Gosh I can't wait to look for dresses, but this year she got PJ's that look like Santa. I didn't want to put her in a stiff fancy dress at a fwe days old.

Sorry you are having a hard time - we have the best store here for that size and really cute dresses, but I know it is Canadian. And now that I think about it, it may be too old for her too
