Christmas Gift Idea - Need Opinions

luvmykids wrote: I have a lot of people that I want to give a gift to but can't really afford it. I was trying to think of something I could make that wasn't too cliche or corny and thought of making them a frozen dinner or two. I have a few recipes that I always get raves on and a lot of these people are busy moms who are always groaning that they wish they had something quick for dinner that night. Do you think thats corny? I personally would love it, I love the thought of just having to take it out of the freezer and cook it and think it's fun trying other peoples recipes, but I don't know if that makes me an oddball or if it's a neat idea.

Be honest laugh.gif And if you don't think it's a good idea, I'd love suggestions for inexpensive gifts for about 10 moms, I'm looking for something not typical, no candles, bath beads, etc....smile.gif

Anthony275 replied: that is a good idea

Jamison'smama replied: I'd like it! I would also love freshly baked bread or a breakfast basket of muffins or scones or someone to bake some holiday desserts for me. Anything that is a time saver is great!

BAC'sMom replied: Nope not at all GREAT idea!

Calimama replied: I love it!! thumb.gif

Brias3 replied: I'd love it! Great idea. In fact, I might have to steal it!

I've given gift baskets of muffins and coffeecakes that I've homebaked and one of my favorite easy Christmas gifts is of course, a decorative basket or tin of my Christmas goodies like cookies, pastries, etc.

moped replied: Wanna share the recipes you get rave reviews on?

Yes i think that is a very fun idea!

Just another idea, one my mom and I made one year: Spice jars. Just go to Costco or Sam's Club and buy spices in bulk. Buy some cute little glass jars from Cost Plus World Market or Bed, Bath & Beyond. Pick a recipe like a marinade or vinegarette and add the spices one by one so that the ingredients stack up in pretty layers...You know, paprika down first so you see the red layer, dried parsley on the next layer so you see the green. Really pretty effect. Or to make it easier, just mix it all together. Then attach the recipe on a cute little card with a bow on top. You can also add little swatches of fabric to the jar top to make it a bit fancier. You can do the same making your own lavender bath salts (kosher salt, lavender oil, and real dried lavendar mixed in) or olive oil jars (add garlic and spices).

moped replied:
YOu can do the same with cookie recipes too!

luvmykids replied:
The three I'm thinking of using are my meatballs, chicken tettrazinni, and a pork medalion and pasta casserole. I'll dig up the recipes and post them for whoever wants them! I might also do Griddle Cookies, they're a family tradition for breakfast...you freeze them and cook them as needed. I usually cook up a big batch with our bacon and eggs on the weekends.

moped replied:
Yes please - could we have all the recipes - LOL, and the griddle cookies!
