lisar wrote: I am having so many issues to try and figure out what to get the kids this year. Lexi asked for a laptop but DH's parents already got her one for her birthday this month. (thank god cause I dont think I could have afforded it anyways) But both the girls asked for a WII so here is the list
WII for both of them as the "big" gift external hard drive (to load wii games so I dont have to buy the games)
Lexi: Flat Iron Curling Iron Blow Dryer New cool alarm clock she has been wanting her stocking is going to be done in all hair stuff this year hairspray, hair bows, etc... WHAT ELSE?
Raygen: Pillow pet MP3 Player (cause I know she would like it)
all Raygen will tell me she wants is a wii and a pillow pet she wont tell me anything else and I have no idea what to get her.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
luvbug00 replied: mya loves her pillow pet! (i do too, she sleeps better with it..lol)

mummy2girls replied: We decided this year one big present each for the girls and then a few little things but we know they will Make out like bandits with faMily so we are not woried:)
Jenna... Ipad( My MoM is paying for half so we will only be paying 200 towards the ipad.

boyohboyohboy replied: we really down played it so far this year. we got the kids a lego table, and then 4 parts of a lego town..it seems my boys are always playing legos no matter what else is in the house. Caleb got more star wars ships, and those things are expensive. I dont get it myself..guess its a boy thing.
I am trying to think of some stocking stuffers...
DH and I just got the house, so we made up a wish list for each other of totally unobtainable gifts, just for fun!
bluebear replied: How about Ugg boots? or any other similar boots?
coasterqueen replied: Megan:
Leapfrog Itag system, carrying case, headphones, book set digital photo frame digital camera A grow your own flower garden kit Monkey snuggie and slippers One outfit/underwear
Kylie:
We were going to get her an Apple iPod Touch, but instead I am upgrading my iPhone to a newer one, and she's going to get my iPhone to be used as an iPod Touch. She won't know it's my old one once we put it in a new shiny cute case and such and get the phone cleaned off. So we'll save at least $150 doing this. We'll tell her Santa got her the iPhone so someday (like when she's 18 ) we can get it activated as a phone. Hope she buys it. It just seemed like the more sensible thing to do because that way if she breaks it then we aren't out much and I really hate spending $250 on her for such an object. I mean, if I spend that much on her now, how much am I gonna have to spend on her when she's a teenager?
She's also getting a digital photo frame Grow your own plant garden kit One outfit/underwear
We also got them as joint gifts the Memorex Sing and Stand and a guitar.
Family gifts will be: Just Dance, Headbanz board game, and hopefully 4 nerf guns so when we get cooped up and crazy we can take out frustrations out on each other. I wanted to do this last year, but didn't.
Stockings:
Mini webkinz Zhu Zhu hamster Candy Kylie will get an iTunes card and Megan is getting an Itag book
I would also like to get Kylie her other horse bedding set for the other bunk bed and a horse pillow and rug, BUT since I don't really have anything else to get Megan....I probably won't.
I spent about $225 on each girl. Not bad at all!!!
stella6979 replied: Avery is getting spoiled this year and I'm totally ok with it. We don't buy her things too often and she needs more age appropriate toys. I am also a great bargain shopper We got her:
A play kitchen An electronic drum set Furry Frienzies with pet Marble race Glow in the dark bendaroos Blendy Pens Busytown Game The Avery Moxie snow girl Shrek Mobigo game (she is getting the mobigo from her Aunt) Giant workbook
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: "Big" gift Dsi XL DS Games Barbie Beatle Bug Car Electronic Map Clothes Tag Books
Stocking Stuffers Earrings Hair Stuff Lip Balms Zhu Zhu Pets
lesliesmom replied: DH and I decided the gift from us was going to be for all so we went and got the WII. Each kid will get a game as well. Since we also do separate gifts from santa:
Leslie will probably be getting an American Girl Doll.. she really wants Lanie..
Chris will be getting legos - he'll get a storage system and a couple kits
Lindsay is getting the Leapster Explorer and a couple games.
Stocking stuffers for us are things like toothbrushes, batteries, pencils, dollar store stuff.. probably be adding some personal items too...
Would love to get the kids more pillow pets.. they LOVE them.. they each have 2 and interchange and use them constantly.
Boo&BugsMom replied: So far...

We are also getting a Wii as a family gift.
I always at least get the kids 3 board games. We are big into board games.
We also do stockings which are filled with lots of random stuff...socks, card games, etc.
MommyToAshley replied: I have no idea what to get Ashley. No clue. HELP!
She really wants a guitar and guitar lessons but I would like for her to get another year of piano under her belt. I don't think she'd practice both at the same time and she's learning so much with piano. I think I may hold off until next September (her birthday) for the guitar.
PrairieMom replied: each child will get 3 gifts. One from us, and one from each sibling.
This year Ben is getting a pot holder loom from us, a super hero cape / mask from Charlie, and what ever al picks out. Probably something spiderman and plastic
Al gets a easy bake oven from us, a super hero cape / mask from Charlie, and what ever ben picks out.
I have no idea what to do about Charlie. Ben wants to get him some foam building blocks and Al has no idea.
Dh and I won't be exchanging gifts, as we just spent $5500 on new floors. Merry Christmas to me! LOL plus our TV just blew out.
We will be spending the holidays at my inlaws. Last year my MIL / santa lost her ever lovin mind and bought every one at least 10 gifts, even tho we decided we weren't exchanging gifts. So annoying . Esp. since the bulk of it was cheap made in china plastic crap that broke after a week. A toy for a week, forever in a land fill. Christmas gives me anger.
MommyToAshley replied: I just saw this.... are you getting them a real guitar or play one? If real, are they going to take lessons too?
coasterqueen replied: Play one that my BIL will restring. It was like $40 at TRU for the guitar. No lessons right now. She will, however do some sort of strings instrument next year at school, along with piano. She knows piano is an 8 year, at least, commitment. I am told if they do at least 8 years of piano they will never forget it -- it will be like riding a bike. Kylie has such natural talent (so says her teacher, I have no clue, ha ha) that I hate her to waste that talent. So as long as she wants to do piano I'll encourage it.
ETA: Megan has no real interest in much of life , so she's not going to take any lessons at this point. She's going to be my "cruiser". She's going to cruise through life as easily as possible and without much effort if she can help it. Maybe that will change later down the road. She just doesn't have the drive her sister does.
jcc64 replied: You guys are so much more on the ball than I am. I have no clue! I haven't even started to focus on Thanksgiving menu yet! Maybe a digital camera for Corey. Idk...
amymom replied:
Commercial Christmas gives me anger! but I love Christmas.
Tara your way of doing Christmas is inspiring to me.
I do not have any idea what either kid will get. We bought a waffle Maker for Billy but may give it to him when he is home next week. Lee and I just bought a TV and I am going to buy a laptop after I get my cleaning, de-cluttering done. So I am off to work on that lol.
PrairieMom replied: LOL. Yeah, I have basically turned into a non consumer, as much as possible. At Christmas I feel bombarded by Commercialism, and people buying things just for the sake of buying things. I am reminded of so many others who don't have what we have. Children with no shoes, while my kids cry because they don't have that 15th plastic super hero figurine. I get kind of embarrassed to have all that we have. So, we do angel tree, and shoe boxes, and really try to stress the true meaning.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: we are doing a want/play/wear/read
Katy want- the fashionista Barbie and Ken play i found a math game she would like (and be helpful with her math struggles) wear a super cute sweater dress and leggings and i need to get her boots read.... crap that kid reads so much not sure what she has already read... I might go with the new Rick Riordan series.... pretty sure she hasn't read that yet (but cant be positive because she goes to the library at school a couple times a week)
Matt wants a football play bananagrams wear new shoes he has been lusting over and a hat from a local surf shop read i found a big pack of shark books at costco a couple months ago and tucked them away
Johnny want- hotwheel set play probably a new connect four since he and his friend were launching the pieces off the deck and some got lost wear he found a buzz lightyear snuggie thing he wanted read whatever i see when i go to barnes and noble for Katy
I am almost done with my shopping. just need to order FIL's espresso machine and something for my sisters and BIL's
my2monkeyboys replied: I know Way will be getting some Thomas the Train, Sesame Street, Mickey Mouse and/or Toy Story stuff, but we are trying to keep it to just 3-4 things from us and a few things from Santa. Will wants stuff a 16-yr-old wants -- X Box 360, laptop, iTouch.... I just don't know what to do for him. DH wants to get him this rifle that turns from a .22 to 460 (I think). He doesn't really want any toys to speak of, though. I found a microscope that I think he'd like, but other than that I'm lost. He's been gathering/shelling/bagging pecans to sell so he can make money for a 360, so more than likely he'll get that even if we have to go in on it. A laptop would be great for school, as right now we share the 1 we have, but our desktop is on it's last leg and soon I'm going to have to set this computer up to do our business stuff, too. That's a lot of things to try to use 1 computer for every day.
moped replied: What aren't they getting!
I did just get back from getting Jack the Tony Hawk Skateboard thingy for xbox.....
Laila is a huge list, but she also has birthday on the 17 of Dec
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Same here.
Maddie and Ethan will get three things--just like always. I just have no idea what the three things are yet! They haven't asked for anything and when I ask them they say "I don't know." And really, they don't have a lot of toys. They are pretty simple. Which I love!
I would love to do all handmade/homemade/made in the USA stuff....but that's HARD!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: We always try to stick with three things each too, plus stocking stuffers. This year we got all their presents on clearance at Walmart when they had their huge end of the season clean-out. Allie's getting some Strawberry shortcake play sets, and Andrew's getting a Bumblebee costume and helmet, and we were thinking about either getting him a cheap transformer or some more tracks for his Thomas the Train set.
We're completely broke, but we really want to do a Shoe box again this year too. The videos they show at church every year always make me cry, and then I want to go right out and fill up a box!
jcc64 replied: What's a shoebox, guys?
mom21kid2dogs replied: In our area, you fill a shoebox with goodies for a certain group . . .ie veterans, children, etc. It was a movement inspired by the song "The Christmas Shoes"
~Roo'sMama~ replied: This is the kind of shoe box I was talking about. http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/OCC/
You pick an age category for a boy or a girl, and fill the box with small gifts and then they give them out all over the world.
PrairieMom replied: yeah, thats the one we do
MommyToAshley replied: So, we played Rock Band 3 with the new keyboard and the new guitar with strings this weekend. It was fun, and I definitely recommend as a Christmas gift for any Rock Band fans out there. Just an interesting note, the guitar is a real working guitar, you can plug it into an amp and it will play just like any other guitar. Very cool. This solved my issue on whether or not to get Ashley a guitar. She can use this for now.
We also played the Xbox Kinect. We only played the game that came with it, but it was super fun! WAYYY better than the Wii. We were reluctant to buy it at first because of the mixed reviews, but it worked great for us. The only thing you have to be careful of is that there isn't a lot of background noise when you do voice commands. But, the sensor and camera worked perfectly, and no controllers!! We got Ashley the dance game for it for Christmas. Yay! I officially started my Chirstmas shopping!
MommyToAshley replied: We're doing this too!
moped replied: I wanted to get Jack the kinect but apparently it is unattainable right now???? Anyone else having a hard time finding it?
MommyToAshley replied: I've seen it everywhere in the stores here. Maybe it's just hard to get there right now but will be more available soon? Can you order online?
Calimama replied: Well I'm slacking and only have 1 gift actually purchased.
Calico critters and house Fur real walking puppy (why she wants that when we have a REAL dog to walk, is beyond me ) iXL Tag reader and books Ice Age DVD game A singing game for the Wii (haven't figured out which yet) Strawberry shortcake remote control car Zhu Zhu pets A pony with a sled (? No idea where I'm going to find that) Barbie Puppy swim school Tea cup piggies
MoonMama replied: Uhhhh....
For sure he's getting
Dinosaur stuff, that his newest obsession. Train stuff, he esp LOVES Dinosaur Train. Some more stuff for his Kung Zhu Pets (he's obsessed with those). I'm not sure what else.
But I think I'll have to do most of my shopping online due to being on full bedrest, so I better get on it.
MoonMama replied: No kidding, why Brae wants all these fake pets when we have a zoo (2 cats, a dog, a bunny, he has a fish tank, a frog, and a new toad he talked my mom into over the weekend) is SO beyond me!!
Brae wants one of those tea cup piggies too, but I think its just cause he wants a real tea cup piggie, our neighbor has one and I'll admit OMG its CUTE and sweet!! But I'm not so ready to drop $2,000 on one.
Calimama replied: Heck I want a real one! Or any kid of pig. I blame Crystal (Crystalina) because her pig pictures made me want one!
MoonMama replied: Oh I totally want one too. I just have to keep reminding myself NO!!
coasterqueen replied: Kylie wants that dog thing too. We have TWO real dogs.
And Ally, I want a teacup piggie!!!!!!!!!!!! OMfreakin'Gosh I want a teacup piggie. My husband would kick me out if I got one, though.
luvbug00 replied: I'd shell out for the piggy in a heart beat...except i know Jon would either feed it to the dogs or make bacon out of it...
yea we got mya one..it roams the house with the dogs at times..they just make sweet love to it....at least there aren't puppies being made..
mummy2girls replied: I just googled tea cup piggy and Karen OMGosh i want one!!!
MoonMama replied: Me too Karen, me too!! Like I said I have to keep telling myself NO!!!! At least we get to play with and piggy sit the neighbors or I'd really be in trouble.
Calimama replied: You guys aren't helping my tea cup pig obsession.
