Christmas tree spin off! - Real vs. Fake
grapfruit wrote: Ok, after reading the other post "Christmas Tree" I was wondering how many prefer real to fake. This means even if you have a fake and like real better, you can pick "real". Vice versa too.
For the record, I like real thing!
Calimama replied: I like fake better, less hassle.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I love the smell and the look of a real tree, but with small kids and two cats, fake is the way right now. Plus, it's easier.
Bamamom replied: I think a fake tree might just be ground for divorce for my Dh. His mom said he stopped helping put up and take down the tree when they went fake.
stella6979 replied: We used to get a real tree evey year when I was little, but I actually prefer the fakes. As much I loved going and picking out the perfect tree, I hated getting poked in the feet and butt by the dang needles that would fall off.
luvmykids replied: Real, all the way. I've had fake but it just isn't the same for me. And all the hassles are just part of the deal, I actually missed needles on the floor when I had a fake tree
A&A'smommy replied: I like fake trees they are a LOT easier to me.. and I feel safer leaving the lights on...
Anthony275 replied: real. we have a fake one in the attic but its probably covered in asbestos or something
My2Beauties replied: We do have a pre-lit fake tree and have had it for the past 2 years, I think it's beautiful and we only got it because of the kids and the mess the needles made with the real trees, but once the kids are a tad bit older, I'll go back to my real trees anyday. So I voted real trees, I love them, the smell, the look, picking one out. I love it.
luvbug00 replied: real here! Brad made us do fake those 2 years and i hated it!
grapfruit replied: See for me, a fake tree was MORE hassel (I know, I'm crazy ) Maybe it just felt like a hassel b/c I HATED putting it up.
Homegirl replied: I "like" the real thing but they are messy and never look quite right to me (go figure, I don't feel a REAL tree looks right!) I like the fake ones. Perfect shape and I like seeing the same one year after year. I am a homebody working at home 40 hours a week and guess I just don't like change much : )

ZandersMama replied: I voted for a real tree but I have a fake because it seems anything and everything sets the baby off into an asthma attack.
coasterqueen replied: I'm kind of tossed on this one, because I'd totally prefer a real tree and all it's smells, etc IF I didn't have to deal with watering it or needles falling off of it. Otherwise it's fake for me! ETA: I only like fake if Dh shapes it, though. I hate "shaping" the fake tree.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I could not vote, I have only had fake. I dont know what its like to have a real one, so I cant say what I like better.
grapfruit replied: Then you should get a real tree so you know!
grapfruit replied: Let me update that by saying. Last year we got ours at Fulton Farms (on 202 near Troy). We got one of the long needled kind that are really soft. I LOVED it. Yes I had to water it, but we didn't have to much "needle debris"
bawoodsmall replied: LOL. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU NADIA. It seems like more of a pain to put together a tree and make all the limbs look right and such. Definately real for us unless Aiden decides to eat the needles.
MotherForever2043 replied: I prefer the fake ones all the way! I don't like the real ones because of their smell, picking them out, watering them, and brooming up all the needles, and can't put it up on Thanksgiving.
MoonMama replied: Although I like the picking them out part. The needles are what I dislike most OUCH! But they kill my allergies too. Told you all I'm allergic to EVERYTHING!
Nina J replied: I prefer fake, although the cheap fake ones don't do it for me. Plus since it's Summer in December, real Christmas trees tend to go stay less than fresh. I know people who use real trees and I don't understand how they can do it, since by the time Christmas comes around the tree is basically dead from the heat.
3xsthefun replied: We almost always get a real tree. I would perfer a fake tree but Rob won't hear of it.
We did get a fake tree one year and that was same year our house fire happened. Rob said he will never have a fake tree in our house again. Though the tree was not the cause of the fire.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I would love to try one sometime, however I would have to water it alot I bet my cats would drink the water right up.
the sitter has one does that count?
Twelve Volt Man replied: I'm way to obsessive-compulsive to have to worry about constantly cleaning up pine needles off of the floor. So, it's fake for us.
Celestrina replied: Real all the way! That's all I ever had and that's all I will ever get. DH likes to joke about getting a fake one, especially one of the blue or white aluminum trees.
