Claudia's ENT Appointment

Kirstenmumof3 wrote: sad.gif Well the brief 5 minutes we were in his office the doctor said her ears are still plugged up and that she will need to have the tubes put in her ears again. So now we wait! We have also been added to the cancelation list as well, so it could be a month from now or it could be 6 months from now. I hate that we have such a doctor shortage in Thunder Bay! I'm going to give Claudia a decongestant for the next few days to hopefully unplug her ears and prevent another ear infection. Oh I hate those ear infections. My poor girl! sad.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: awww poor thing

kimberley replied: poor girl sad.gif i hope she is better soon. keep us updated. grouphug.gif

ediep replied: awww, poor thing! I sure hope you get the appointment sooner rather than later. Good luck

DansMom replied: She really has suffered from these ear infections hasn't she? I'm so sorry you have to have the tubes again sad.gif grouphug.gif

DVFlyer replied: Ughhh. Ear infections are no fun.

My2Beauties replied: Oh honey I can relate! Hanna had 8 of those things by her 6th month, Hanna has tubes now! I'm not looking forward to the day they fall out, because I will constantly be worried about her getting another infection! I hope all goes well, I know it sucks to have to go through the tube surgery again, but it's for the best! Those infections are awful!

Kirstenmumof3 replied: Thanks everyone! I've talked to a few people since we got back and they've all told me this is normal and in fact she could have the tubes put in several more times after this! Not really what I wanted to hear. Hopefully we will get in soon, everyone keep your fingers crossed. I'm actually curious to see what the pediatric floor looks like at our new hospital. wink.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: I hate to see them in pain after the tubes are in
makes you want to cry.
My son only had to have that done 1x at the age of 5 and he never had a problem after but his tubes never fell out for 6 months 1 ear an almost 2 years later with the other.
I hope this is the last time for you and everything will be fine.

iluvmysweetiepies replied: sad.gif Awww poor thing. I hope she feels better soon!

DVFlyer replied: My ex's daughter had to have them twice. Kind of a hassle having to put those goofy ear plugs in when she was around water (bath, pool, etc), but that was pretty much the worst thing. The weird thing to me was how small the tubes were. We found one on her pillow and I had no idea they were that tiny.

I'm sure they don't feel tiny to their poor little ears, though. sad.gif

MommyToAshley replied: grouphug.gif Poor girl. I hope you can get an appointment soon.

In the meantime, sending some "Stay Away Ear Infections" vibes. Hope she is feeling better soon!

A&A'smommy replied: Poor baby!! I hope that you will be able to get it done soon!!! ((((HUGS)))

ian'smommy replied: It's kind of strange for me to hear so many people saying that their kids have had to have tubes more than once. I live in Indiana and when my son Ian had tubes put in his ears a little over a year ago, they told me that it is rare to have to do it again. Although my husband had to have 2 sets when he was a child. It also surprises me when people say that the tubes fell out after only months. Ian has had his now for over a year and we were told he can have them for another year before they fall out. Which I find to be a good thing when health care is so expensive. We had insurance and had to pay $100 to get it done. Would have been a few thousand otherwise. We feel blessed that he didn't have the surgery just two months earlier when we weren't insured at all because my husband was laid off from work. He found another job quickly and got his insurance just in time. The tubes have been wonderful for Ian. He was getting an ear infection way too often and the meds were not working anymore. He even had an allergic reaction to one of the meds. I certainly don't miss being up all night with him when his ears were bothering him, and taking him to emergency for temperatures that got too high.

Kirsten, I hope Claudia's ears get better soon. I can sure relate...

Mandasmomma replied: Poor kid!! I have my first double ear infection, on top of bronchial pneumonia....

How do these poor kids deal with ear infections over and over again.

Hopefully she will be feeling better soon!!
