Clothes and shoes - how long do you keep them?
mckayleesmom wrote: Do you wear them just until they go out of style or till they are practically falling off?
I wear them till they are practically falling off...Im getting my moneys worth. Even if It gets stained...I usually keep it for cleaning day since Im probably going to get something on it that will stain.
msoulz replied: I am with you. In fact, my "BFF" tried toget me on that show "what not to wear" because of my fashion non-sense.
I did have to part with my favorite flourescent tie-dyed shirt last year due to holes - and just before they have seemed to return into style! See, if you keep stuff long enough they come back into style. Those 70's "hip huggers" are back now!
mckayleesmom replied: I still have most of my stuff from high school.....I don't wear it because Im to fat right now...but I have it... I still have my senior high school tie dye shirt....
Also...just to clarify...I do have IN STYLE clothes....I just wear them when I go out or to the store or something.......but the rest are fine for around the house...
I would love someone to call WHAT NOT TO WEAR on me.....Free clothes...
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I've given away everything that doesn't fit. I don't particularly care whether it's in style or not... if it fits, perfect. I don't give it away because it's out of style..I make it work.
By no means am I a walking fashion faux-pas... but I'm not going to go out of my way to keep up with the syle... most of the clothes I have are very flexible - in that they can coordinate with more than one thing... so I usually have to only buy a piece or two of clothing to change it up for a whole "new" wardrobe.
stella6979 replied: I LOVE "What Not to Wear"!! I have no fashion sense whatsoever and I really would like to try new things, but I always feel like a moron. As for my clothes, I do keep most of mine for a long time.
grandma replied: They say if you don't wear something in your closet for a year, get rid of it. I don't wear; clothes way out of style, stained, ripped, too big or too small. I love to clean my closet and drawers, bag it and drop it off at Goodwill. I think less is better, keep it simple.
My2Beauties replied: I always have to wear something in style...that is my one thing that I can say I am selfish about are my clothes. I mean I will wear something crazy looking around the house, it wouldn't bother me at all, but if I step foot outside I have to be wearing something halfway decent looking. My DH is the same way, we're both big on our clothes. Now as far as tennisshoes go, I might buy one pair a year, I don't get much use out of them because I have to dress up for work so I wear my boots and closed toed shoes in the wintertime, when I get home I don't go a lot of places in the winter, when I do I'll throw on the sneakers, but in the summer it's all flip flops and open toed for my pedicured toes, even when it's a little rainy, if it's summer time, I ain't wearing tennisshoes If my toes are done, everyone is gonna see 'em!
Boys r us replied: I am the fashion police! I only wear stuff that's in style. Now..that said, I have things that I've had forever..like my fave pair of yoga pants are a pair I bought right before I was PG with Braedon....that was 7 yrs ago..and they're a lot tighter now..lol..but I still wear them around the house and I have t-shirts galore that are oldies but goodies...but I would never wear a t-shirt anywhere but around the house.
luvmykids replied: I just keep them until I don't wear them for whatever reason, because they don't fit, because I don't like something anymore, whatever...I just cleaned out my closet and drawers and had seven black trash bags full
It's pretty cheap for me to stay fairly hip though, because I mostly wear stuff like jeans and capris that just need a new shirt or something to look trendy.
mummy2girls replied: I usually keep them until they dont fit or too big. I had for so long out of style clothes when i was at my biggest but now that i have lost so much i want to wear the in clothes...LOL. My closet is pretty low in clothes because all my fat clothes are GONE!!!! Marcus onteh toher hand... WOW. he will keep them even though they dont fit or never wear them. he even has a leather vest, and a jean jacket vest , also leather pants.. The oldest t-shirts known to man to where i think the cavemen wore. he has more clothes then me and jenna put together. he takes up half the closet and 2 big dresser full of clothes and even the shelves on the closet are jammed packed. me i just take up half the closet and thats it. I told him we need to go through his clothes and pick out ones he is not wearing or liking anymore... But thats like makinga bald man get a perm...
moped replied: Fashion police here big time - if I haven't worn something in one season it is gone - my sisters love to get my old clothes....well hardly old~~
mummy2girls replied: well geez send some my way... they may not fit me yet but eventually they will... C'mon you need another sister dont ya?
My3LilMonkeys replied: I keep clothes until they don't fit or are so stained/ripped that I can't wear them anymore. I am NEVER in style even in brand new clothes - my style is jeans & a t shirt/sweatshirt/sweater/plain top for home/casual, dress pants and a sweater/plain top for work or dressier.
coasterqueen replied: I'm not vain. I'll wear whatever I have in my closet, even if it's out of style - as long as it fits. Vanity is not something I want to teach my children either.
PrairieMom replied: I never wear things that are in style. I buy mostly second hand for both me and the kids, so Everything I wear is at least 2 years old. I wear t-shirts, even out of the house, but I do try to clean up a bit when I go out, I will wear tank tops and sundresses, but most of them are old too. I usually wear them until they are stained up.
ETA: my sandals are 3 years old, and I have never had a pedicure, and only had a manicure 2 times in my life. For my wedding, and my sisters wedding. I hated every minute of it, and will try to never do it again.
holley79 replied: I wear it till it just falls apart. If it gets stained (as many shirts did while BF) I use then when I'm working in the yard or cleaning house.
My3LilMonkeys replied: I've never had either. I'm seriously thinking about a pedicure because my feet are so rough and with the baby belly in the way I can't reach to paint them as nicely as I'd like - but then I think about all the other stuff that $$ could be better spent on and say forget it.
moped replied: Sure thing~~~
