Coinstar - my life saver! lol!

luvbug00 wrote: Well after last night I don't have a dime to my name I have -35.00 though. anyway so this morning i waddled myself in and went to coinstar and gave up my loose change. all $11.47 of it. tongue.gif I love that machine! its soo fun to watch the money go down the little thing and hear them "clink, clink" I'm lame i know.

So who else hits up the coinstar every onece and a while??? money.gif

J-rod replied: dont think we have one around.... i jsut took my change to our bank yesterday. took in $69...and after the fee deposited $67 into savings.

mom2my2cuties replied: I do - smile.gif I like it. We use it about every 3 months. We put all our change into a foldgers can and when it gets full (usually once a month) we empty it into a ziplock and save it up. Usually get close to $100 doing this. We make sure all our loose change goes into it every evening. - Sort of a fun thing for the kids, because they get to use that "unbudgeted" money on something for them (Toys, trip to Chuck E Cheese, whatever.)

luvbug00 replied: Good Idea Tish! thumb.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: I go to commerce bank and use theirs its FREE
Coinstar charges you wacko.gif

mom2my2cuties replied: I started doing this back when i was in highschool. from 6-12th grade, our lunches were $0.85 and dad would give us $1...I saved that extra $0.15 plus whatever I had left over from allowence, work, etc every day in one of those old water jug things. I can't remember the exact amount, but it was quite a bit when I cashed it in after graduation smile.gif

mom2my2cuties replied:
But don't you have to be an account holder?

Adrienne522 replied: I love COINSTAR!!!! It is a life saver. I have used it 2 times in the past 3 weeks. It is so nice not having to roll change up and take it to the bank. The only negative thing is 8.9 cents for every dollar as a fee.

mckayleesmom replied: Yes....I love Coinstar.....I usually take McKaylee with me because she thinks its the neatest t hing in the world.

J-rod replied: ironically i started this after going to the bars. drinks cost $1.25-$1.75 so id save the quarters in a beer glass i stole from applebees. emlaugh.gif well it got me started now i do it with all the change we have....and every couple months i take it in and put it directly into our savings account

gr33n3y3z replied:
Nope wink.gif

mom2my2cuties replied: Wonder if we have one of those around here smile.gif

mckayleesmom replied:
Um...excuse me?...I work at Applebees and we would like our glasses back...... rolling_smile.gif Just kidding.....

C&K*s Mommie replied: I have used Coinstar once for C's change, and the bank one one time too, also for C's extra change.

The only bad thing is, is that the Coinstar I used was at the entrance of a grocery store, and was LOUD! wacko.gif But I was surprised at how much change C had saved up, it was much more than I thought it was going to be.

The one at the bank was loud, but not nearly as loud as the Coinstar machine. The girls liked to put the money on the tray and take turns dumping the tray.

J-rod replied:
sorry its sitting next to my other stolen glasses on my bar at home. rolling_smile.gif

edit - stolen sounds soo bad....lets say "borrowed"

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I usually roll my own change.
Afer my uncle died my parents had me, my sister and our dh's roll all the change that he had hoarded in his house. $1200 later we were done...It took forever but now $20 here or there is nothing biggrin.gif

J-rod replied: i know my bank wont accept rolled change....i guess alot of them are doing it now.

luvmykids replied: I love coinstar thumb.gif I have a giant shoebox I use and it's always well over $100.

TheOaf66 replied: I save my change in a jar at work, when it is full, I take it to my bank and count it out in their machine. It takes longer than I would live cuz I rarely carry cash, I always use my check card.

DillsMommy replied: I Love coinstar!

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: My DH got this big plastic beer bottle with popcorn in it years ago, so that is what we use. We just bring it to our bank and they do it for free.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I used coinstar once, then I saw how much I lost to it with fees now I roll my own. Kait gets the most change, grandpa never spends change and gives it to her. If we are going to there house she better have pockets or a purse cause he LOVES to filler her up with coins. I have rolled it a few times for her and never less than $50 a shot, usually more than that. It goes into her savings and college fund.

My3LilMonkeys replied: I roll my own - I'm CHEAP. tongue.gif

MyBabeMaddie replied: Coinstars great! But not as great as the cash you get out just from saving pocket change!
