Conners 6 months Checkup
Mom2Boyz wrote: Well, we just got back from the dr, and my "little"man in growing perfectly. He's just smaller than most according to the dr. He's 16lbs 12oz and 26.5 inches long. He's in the 40th percentile for height and weight, and only 25th for head circumfence. My baby has a cute little head But, She was very happy with his growth I'm not expecting him to be HUGE, afterall his daddy is 5'9" and only weighs 120lbs She also prescribed vitamins with flouride since he's already got 2 teeth, and the water where we live isn't flouridated. Does anyone have any advice on how to get him to take it? It must taste awful, I tried to give it to him, and he spit it right back at me
kimberley replied: way to grow Conner! he is so adorable ! sorry, i have no advice on the vitamins. Jade won't take hers at all unless we hold her down and give a few drops at a time. it is a long process and she doesn't really need them so i gave up. good luck!
coasterqueen replied: Way to Grow Conner!!!!! Cute little tiny head, lol. Hey, it could be like Kylie's...I think it was at her 15 month visit that they finally said her head size was on the chart. Her head is so huge it was way off the charts before then. I remember the doctor saying, "wow, she's finally grown into her head".
amynicole21 replied: lol, Karen! Sophia's head is in the 98th % The last time we had a check up the ped asked, does everyone in your family have a big head? Nice!~
Amy, sounds like Conner is doing great! WTG, little guy
pinka_star replied: WTG Conner!!
Glad the appointment went good.
MommyToAshley replied: Aweee, he's sooo cute! And, sounds like Conner is doing great! Ashley had a small head ... she stayed around the 90%ile for height and weight but only 50% for head circum.
As for the flouride vitamins, not sure how you could get him to take them. We drank bottled water ourselves, so we used the bottled Infant Water with Ashley... it has flouride in it. It is literally called Infant Water and can be found in most grocery stores in the baby food section, it comes in a gallon container like Milk.
Now, we use bottled water for Ashley. Absopure makes a bottled water for kids that has flouride in it. It comes in smaller bottles so it is great for the diaper bag or easy to take along. Ashley thinks it is great that she gets water now just like Mom and Dad!
DansMom replied: Oh, it sounds like he's doing just great. I have a little fella too---just about 22 pounds at 18 months. Connor's such a cutie pie!
CantWait replied: WTGrow Connor!!!!!!! Sounds like he's doing great. As for the vitamins, have you tried putting them in one of his bottles??? That's the only way I can think of.
Mom2Boyz replied: I really can't get him to take a bottle. I've tried with bm, water, juice, he just doesn't really care for it. I might try mixing it with a little bit of applesauce, see if that will work
A&A'smommy replied: WTG Conner! LOL about the drops alyssa does that when she doesn't like something too and I just laugh!
ediep replied: WTG Conner!!!
As for the drops, I just gave it to Jason straight everyday and eventually he got used to it and would swallow it instead of spitting it out. When Jason turned 1 year, the doc gave us vitamins with flouride and they are much worse than the flouride. I can not get Jason to take them. When he turns 2, the doc said he can get chewable. Hopefully, he'll take that
Tricia replied: This message is for all who replied regarding the Flouride drops. I recommend doing some research on the this. I have found some really disurbing information regarding Flouride and will not be giving it to our son.
ctymom replied: Glad everything went well with Conner's appt! He's such a cutie
As far as flouride... I buy the bottled water from Walmart for babies. Our family doesnt drink tap water anyway.
The post above mine made referrence to reading about flouride... I did some quick searches and found general information about consequences of taking too much of it, but nothing for general consumption that was conclusive. I've given it to my children and they so far have had no cavities. I think we could find problems with alot of things we give our children or ourselves. Many people are against vaccinations... but the positives far outweigh the negatives. I guess it all comes down with weighing the pros and cons and what we feel comfortable with.
Thanks for pointing it out... always good to get information and make an informed decision.
