Cookie recipe?

booey2 replied: Sorry Dee Dee, I don't really do much baking dunno.gif and the ones I do come from either Pillsbury or the kids school fund raiser. You could try the pillsbury website or robin hood flour has one too.

amymom replied: I always buy the slice them ones in the refridgerator section of the store. But, the local bakery gave me the recipe they used for decorating cookies. I will get it and type it in later tonight, when I am done working. The cookies were quite good, and I may make them myself.

1/4 cup finely crushed peppermint candies (12 candies)
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup finely crushed peppermint candies (12 candies)
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/4 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt


1. Heat oven to 325ºF. Mix 1/4 cup crushed candies and 1/4 cup powdered sugar; reserve. Mix butter, 1/3 cup powdered sugar, 1/4 cup crushed candies and the vanilla in medium bowl. Stir in flour and salt.
2. Shape dough by level measuring tablespoonfuls into balls. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
3. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until set but not brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet; roll in reserved candy mixture. Cool completely on wire rack. Roll in candy mixture again.

Here is the recipe:

SUGAR COOKIES
Cream together: 1 c. butter 2/3 c. sugar

Beat in: 1 egg
Add: a tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp. salt 2 1/2 cups sifted flour

Mix until all ingredients are well blended.
Chill dough 3-4 hours before rolling.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Roll out and cut
Bake about 8-10 minutes or until barely colored.

Cookies can be frosted and decorated
or eaten just plain

3/4 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
1 TB butter
1 TB milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp lemon juice

Melt butter: combine all ingredients and beat until smooth

Add food coloring if desired

yield: 1/3 cup
