Couples Christmas Question...

MyLuvBugs wrote: Ok. Do you hint around or flat out tell your SO what you want for Christmas?

My DH is SOOOOOOOO clueless about my hints. I litterally have to spell things out in black and white for him. rolleyes.gif But it takes all the fun out of getting a gift from him. KWIM? But then when I just leave him to his own accord I end up with Computer Equipment that isn't really for me...it's for him. rolleyes.gif Really nice, huh? dry.gif

HA! Maybe I should just create a website that ladies and Gents can come and create a wishlist of stuff the want or like and then the site will send reminders to their SO's with gift ideas for special occassions. bigthink.gif laugh.gif

TheOaf66 replied: my DW is so hard to shop for since she is picky. I can't buy her clothes or jewelry. She really doesn't have any hobbies so that is no help so every year for b-day or Christmas it is a struggle. I am easy...tools, video games, Packers gear is really all I need.

msoulz replied: We don't buy for each other. We go after christmas and shop together. It saves money and is a lot of fun!

Although this year we bought a digital camera and a nice lense, and will probably pick up a zoom lense so we are not likely to go shopping after Christmas this year. But that is OK!

Kaitlin'smom replied: This time of year if he has not gotten his own ideas form things I have already told him through out the year (sometimes he will make a note of it and its a supprsie casue I forgot I wanted it) I will go through ads and circle things I like/want/need. Then its up to him to decide. The one thing he is supposed to get each year as a stocking stuffer for me he has gotten the wrong thing 3 years in a row now so I am taking that off the list.

cameragirl21 replied: maybe you could sit with Lorelei and help her make a list for Santa and tell your DH that everyone in the family should make a list for Santa so that it's more fun, more in the spirit of family time during the holidays, even make one up for the baby.
that way, you each made a list and you each will now know what the other wants. wink.gif

lisar replied: My DH is sneaky. He pays attention when I say I want something. It could be something I told him I wanted in January. But he will get lil things I wanted for a while that I would normally have forgotten about. As for him he will tell me what he wants cut it out of the craftsman catalog or the ATV catalog and give it to me. I never buy those things I always buy things that I know he wants but doesnt ask for.

coasterqueen replied: Well we don't normally buy gifts for each other because the funding runs out and we are last on the list. happy.gif rolleyes.gif But every year we jokingly send emails to each other saying we want this or that, etc. Like this year Dh sent me an email with a link to some computer equipment thingy that would cost a FORTUNE and said if anyone wanted to get that for him for Christmas that would be fine. My reply was no one in their right mind could afford it, but I'd keep it in mind. laugh.gif We have fun teasing each other about it, gotta have fun somehow when you can't actually do any of it. blush.gif

That being said, last year since Ryan was contracted with FEMA we could actually afford to buy each other something. We didn't drop any real hints (ones that we could afford) before Christmas because we didn't realize til the very last minute that we'd be able to buy each other something. So it was all suprise on both sides. Well I had to beg him for last minute ideas because I never know what to get him. He, on the otherhand, didn't ask for any hints and totally suprised me out of left field. wub.gif

Cece00 replied: I make him a list, give him some cash & let him go after it. He isnt too good about buying on his own. Occasionally he does OK, but for the most part, he needs his hand held rolling_smile.gif

coasterqueen replied:
oooh I LOVE LOVE that idea. thumb.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: I'm very bad with this bc I will say I would like to have this and Ed will say oh really then I say I dont really need it LOL

I did hint around for a new Jacket and I sent him the web page and color and size.

I just want one thing he knows what it is but it takes time wink.gif

MyLuvBugs replied:
we already do that for the kids....that's a whole other issue I had this year with the grandparents....Don't get me started. rolleyes.gif But we do it for the kids, and we do talk to each other and tell each other exactly what we want.....but it just seems no fun. KWIM? It'd be nice if he'd pay attention through out the year and surprise me with something that I actually want/need/like. rolleyes.gif But I don't think I can teach an old dog new tricks. laugh.gif

MyLuvBugs replied:
rolling_smile.gif I hear ya on that one! By the time we get to ourselves there is about $25.00 left on the budget to split between the two of us. laugh.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: We usually ask each other what we want to get ideas. It's always impossible though because the only things we can ever think of that we'd like to buy for each other are usually out of our price range. rolleyes.gif

Maddy'sMommy replied: My dh is clueless as to what to get me for Xmas. I have to write a list of things I would like. I can shop for him easy and don't need a list.... I on the other hand remember all the hints. smile.gif

TheOaf66 replied: u have to remember unless we are shopping for tools, hunting gear, or sports jerseys...we are pretty much lost and don't like to shop...at least not me, I HATE IT! blahblah.gif

luvmykids replied: I find it best to lay it all out or else end up with a collection of brindle purses rolling_smile.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: I lay out small hints, but I don't think he's picked up on any of them this year. tongue.gif

quinnandjacob'smom replied: We don't exchange gifts. We pick out one thing we need/want for the house or whatever and buy it. This year I'm getting a new SUV, so I guess that's Christmas for us! Or if we're feeling really crazy, we'll buy a stove too.

sparkys2boys replied:
thumb.gif me tooooo!!!! What a super great idea!

My3LilMonkeys replied: I give him a few little ideas here and there, but mostly he comes up with things on his own and does really well.

mom2my2cuties replied: My husband usually does REALLY well smile.gif

Last year, he bought me a BEAUTIFUL black pearl necklace, and he ALWAYS buys a signature bottle of purfume that I love.

But me - he gives me exact links. rolling_smile.gif to the websites that he wants me to buy from smile.gif

Calimama replied: I dont give him one single hint. I could care less about the gift itself just the fact he picked it out on his own is enough to make me like it. He knows me pretty well though so he knows what to get typically. tongue.gif

redchief replied: No beating around the bush here. It doesn't work well. biggrin.gif

hawkshoe replied: I used to hint but that only led to disappointment. I now make out a list and hang it on the refrigerator. It serves two purposes, it give him something ot work off of and if anyone calls for ideas, he can refer to it. I have been doing this for years now and I can honestly say, I have been getting much better gifts smile.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: We dont' buy each other gifts any more... we used to. But we have pretty much everything we need... we usually buy as we go so usually whatever we would buy is extra stuff laying around the house, or stuff I'd like to use but don't have the time or patience...

Like the Back Massager Seat dh got me last year... it's the thought that counts... it's the thought that counts... it's the thought that counts... rolling_smile.gif
