Crusts - will they eat 'em?
amynicole21 wrote: Sophia refuses to eat the crust of her bread. I know this is super common, but it's also really annoying. She goes as far as to refuse to eat the crust of her waffles! Aaargh! Why do I have to have such a high-maintainance kid?
mckayleesmom replied: Mine eat anything....I rarely find something they won't eat.
luvbug00 replied: Mya is like this too.
holley79 replied: My brother and sister were the same way. I have given Annika bites of the crust and she seems to like that better then the center of the bread.
TheOaf66 replied: Tanner doesn't seem to mind crusts at all
kit_kats_mom replied: Oh Amy, that Sophia is going to drive you to the nut house.
K will eat crusts because I never gave her the option not too. She did go through a phase where she would say she didn't like them when she started daycare and saw other kids refusing them. However, I refused to cave (I do not need to spend the next 10 years of my life trimming sandwiches) and told her she could a- starve, b-pull it off herself or eat around it, c-eat the stupid crust and pick some more important thing to power trip on.
she usually chooses b or c.
DansMom replied: I can't believe Daniel isn't the only weird child who does this! And do you eat those little waffle remains off the plate like I do?
I don't cut the crusts off, he just eats right up to them. Or sometimes he pulls the sandwich apart and eats each content individually, finishing with the bread. Goofball.
CantWait replied: Yup, Anthony eats his crusts. Robbie went through a small stage of not eating them, didn't last long because I refused and he's the most picky eater I know so I got tired of catering to his every meal wish.
MichaelsMommy replied: Mine is a little strange - he's not big on bread at all crusts or no crusts.
C&K*s Mommie replied: ours may or may not. depending on how hungry they are. I really do not eat the bottom crust either, so I cannot blame them. But I do not take them off for them, if they do not want it then they too can eat up to that point.
mom2my2cuties replied: Mine only eats the crusts of bread. And when it comes to fruit like apples and things, she only eats the peel...not the actual fruit.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Stephen told O that eating the crusts on bread will help her whistle. (Apparently, someone told him this when he was little ) Strangely, this worked! Cracks me up every time he says it.
Also I don't care what she does and does eat, bread~wise, but removing crusts is so not in my job description. I told if she wants them off, then thake them off. No skin off my nose. Occasionally she did but mostly she was too lazy to do it!!
amynicole21 replied: Absolutely
redchief replied: OMG, Tracy, that's funny!
My kids are all crust eaters. I'm a crust eater too.
redchief replied: Possible solution (only possible). Make a sandwich on a kaiser or short italian roll; present for eating. Eat whole thing. Tell kid, "You just ate a whole sandwich of crust." Watch reaction.
hawkshoe replied: My oldest used to eat it when he was little. Then he went to his cousins house and his mom cut them off. Now he won't eat them. Ugh. My youngest still is eating them.
3xsthefun replied: Kaitlynn she will eat them.
Maegan is kinda strange, she don't care that much for bread.
JP&KJMOM replied: Well, JP will eat them now but use to not and Karlee no way not in a million years will she eat crust. Mostly she will not even eat a sandwich unless it is cut into a heart shape. I take full blame on their pickyness cause I still don't eat the crust on my sandwich!!!
kimberley replied: my boys are the same but now they are old enough to do it themselves. i refuse to spend half my morning cutting crust off bread.
A&A'smommy replied: Nope, no way, no how!!!
Boo&BugsMom replied: I have a daycare kid like this. I give them small amounts of food, if they want more, they need to eat it all. Works pretty well.
My3LilMonkeys replied: My kids love the crusts. They fight over who gets to eat the heel of the loaf.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Jade hardly eats bread at all. LOL She would rather have the meat and chesse rolled up.
MommyToAshley replied: Ashley will eat the entire bread, including the crust. She never knew it was an option to have it trimmed until MIL did it for her one day. I nipped that in the bud right away, and asked MIL not to do that.
However, my big kid... Rod... will not eat the crust on pizza. Probably because MIL (his mom) trimmed it for him when he was small.
Nina J replied: Emily loves crusts. I always eat sandwiches or pizza so the crust is left until last, because it's my favourite part. Emily always says "Gimme your crust"..but I don't, because I love it
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Alex doesn't eat the crust either....even on a poptart...I dont remove if before I give him his sandwich, he just eats the parts he wants and leaves the rest
redchief replied: PopTarts have crust?
MoonMama replied: I hope Braedin will. However I don't I feed it to the dog. But that is my Mom's fault she always bought me crust free bread.
3_call_me_mama replied: I have never given teh option. It' more like "here's your sandwich, let me know when you're done!" and it's all the there. The littel girl i watch eats around the crust but i tell her she need sto eat teh whole thing before she eats anything else (her parents cut teh crust off) and she eats it usually for me. But at home she wont' touch a sandwich with crust on it. She does teh saem thing with apples, eats all teh flesh part out and then leaves the littel skin like a watermelon rind. But i tell her to eat that too and she does! What i find kind of funny though is the arguement that my parents gave us for having to eat teh crust "that's where all teh nutrition is" UM no , that's where the oven browned it teh most and therefore it is darker than the rest of teh bread! (unless it has little bits of grains sprinkled on the top like ours does, then i guess there woudl be a bit more nutrition there.!)
