Crying - While still sleeping
Edward's Mommy wrote: My son has recently started crying in his sleep and sometimes he screams in his sleep. He's going to be 7 months on the 15th. Is he having night terrors? and if not, why is he crying in his sleep?
moped replied: What kind of cry or scream???
Edward's Mommy replied: I'm not really sure, it starts out as a whining and then he just starts crying and then a scream. It's not a cry I've heard from him before. Someone told me that night terrors start at 8 months, but what would be giving him night terrors if that's what it is?
moped replied: I don't know anything about terrors, but I think he is still too young. How long does it last?
Edward's Mommy replied: 15 minutes to a half hour is the longest I've let it last. He screams louder when I put my hand on him. Once he wakes up, he's okay, then goes back to sleep. And it'll happen again an hour later.
moped replied: Gosh you got me - have you tried to look it up on the internet?
Edward's Mommy replied: Not yet, I'll try that now!
moped replied: Let us know please
moped replied: How long has he been doing this??????????
Edward's Mommy replied: It started a week ago. It didn't happen every day to begin with but now, he seems to do it every day and twice before he actually wakes up for the day. I can't find anything online about it.
moped replied: hummmmmm, is it like a horrifying scream or like a whining?
kayla's mama replied: Kayla has been doing that latelty. All most nightly. She cries then it sounds like a hurt cry. I just chalked it up to being teething but maybe its more than that
Edward's Mommy replied: It starts out as whining and then turns to a horrifying scream.
huggybugboy replied: every once in a while, miles will wake up screaming. But then he goes right back to sleep. He sleeps in the next room so I'm not really sure if it starts out as a little whimper or not. Keep us posted!
mommymonster replied: Hmm... has his diet changed any before bedtime? I know my son used to do the same thing and after finally going through all I could to figured out what it could be... He was actually just sensitive to some different foods we were introducing to him. for some reason he would get "gas attacks" in his sleep. I hope everything turns out ok
Edward's Mommy replied: He hasn't been eating anything different except theVeggie Stars from Gerber (finger foods) but I don't give them to him everyday. And I've been giving them to him for two weeks.
1moremakes4 replied: my older daughter did this when she was a baby too. We found the only way to get her to stop was to clap or yell her name to wake her up. Then she would fall back asleep and be fine. We never found out what caused it, but it only lasted a few months, I think.
Edward's Mommy replied: At least it will pass in time!!! (I'm hoping!!!)
