Cute story about Daniel - I can't help myself
DansMom wrote: DH called me at work to tell this story. Daniel was shaking a small rainstick and indicated that he wanted dada to clap his hands (they often "jam" since DH is a drummer and has a whole bag of percussion instruments). Dada started clapping, and started saying the pattycake rhyme. He stopped at where you toss it in the air, and Daniel raised his arms up smiling. Then he made a raspberry, which is the sound he makes for a bumblebee. DH was trying to figure this out, and it dawned on him: mark it with a "BEE"!
I am going to kiss DH when I get home for calling me at work to tell me this story.

Where in patty cake do you toss something in the air? The rhyme I know says "... bake me a cake as fast as you can. Pat it, and roll it and mark it with a B, and put it in the oven for baby and me." Have I had it wrong this whole time??
coasterqueen replied: Awwww, that is tooo cute!!!
DansMom replied: You don't have it wrong. I've been noticing other versions than the one I'm used to: I think it's one of those rhymes that is so old and has many versions. Some people prick it and pat it (especially Brits and people who really know about baking pastries). Some people pat it and roll it. We roll it and toss it (like a pizza dough). I guess in my version it should be "bake me a pizza as fast as you can"! Since nobody tosses cake.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Awww! What a sweetie! That was so nice of DH to call and brighten your day. He is a good daddy.
