DH and I See the Lawyer Today!

Kirstenmumof3 wrote: sad.gif It's another sad day for me! Today I sign a sign a letter stating that I am giving up my half of the house and any equity that has been accumulated. It also states that DH will be re-mortgaging the house in his name and doing some re-financing as well.

sleep.gif This is due to me trying to get into subsidized housing. I cannot have any assests.

bawling.gif I guess this is just another step towards a formal seperation agreement. I'm just really glad that DH and I are still bestfriends.

DVFlyer replied: I don't know the whole situation, but does filling out that paperwork affect any assets that would be legally yours in the event of a divorce?

youngmomofone replied: also, why cant dh move out instead? I dont know if the kids will be staying with you or not but if they are it would only make sense that he gets a small place instead of you.

I've given up any equity that had built up in the house when I signed over the house. The house was the only asset that we had together, so I can't see there being any problem if/when we decide to divorce.

Because of the nature of my mental illness I'm not allowed to have the children full time. I find it better this way, I have a better relationship with all 3 of them and they have the stability of the house and a really, really good dad!
