DH put in a request for FEMA work

coasterqueen wrote: BUT it's a good thing. Our county and several others in Illinois was declared a disaster area from the federal government, hence FEMA will come in to our area. Dh has repeatedly told his employer no to other FEMA contracts but we've talked it over and I've encouraged DH to take on this task. He's going to see if he can get a contract for either Illinois or Missouri. If he gets one either place he will be closer to home, BUT he still will be busy 18 hours a day so we won't get to see him except in our sleep. happy.gif But this is a wonderful opportunity for him because if he takes it he'll have the opportunity to have face time with elected officials in our state. Something I've tried to get him to do SO MANY times since I have contact with some. Also, he gets the chance to give back in our community and feel like he can help.

Please send some good vibes this way that he gets it. I'm sure I'll be complaining about it if he does get it and we never see him, lol, but I really think this sort of sacrifice will be very good for everyone in our family.

amynicole21 replied: That would be great! He could get his manager off his back about taking jobs far away, too thumb.gif

5littleladies replied: Sounds like it could be a good opportunity! Good luck to your hubby! thumb.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I hope he gets it. Im really proud of you Karen....I think that doing Fema every now and then will make you a stronger and more independent wife and mother. I know that I didn't know if I could handle dh traveling all the time and now its like second nature. It gave me alot of confidence as a wife and mother. I hope he gets illinois so he gets to come home every night. It will also make you a stronger family.

You know what Brianne, it has made me stronger. Dh is amazed at the situations I'll get into now, like traveling long distance alone with them or doing just about anything with them that would have had me frazzled before. It's definitely made me stronger AND a better person for it.

Thank you.
