Da Vinci Code - Read the book?????
~~*Missi*~~ wrote: I am curious if I should read the book before seeing the movie.... I have the book LOL, but you know how some books ruin the movies for you or they alter the ending and your like WTH .....
Who read the book? Are you going to see the movie?
I know it is coming to theaters here 19th .. but everywhere else that isn't no where land like me may have it sooner LOL
C&K*s Mommie replied: No to both questions. But I would prefer to see a movie first, in general, then read the book. Because of the reason you said, it ruins the movie and since so much has to be omitted for time, alot is taken away and the full effect is not present in the movie as it is in the book, and you can enjoy the movie without replaying what you read in the book in your head.
amynicole21 replied: I read the book and really liked it. I don't know how I feel about Tom Hanks as the main character, but I would like to see the movie as well. The story is great.
~~*Missi*~~ replied: he looks ALOT different right now.... when i saw the news flipping thru channels it took me like 4 minutes to figure out who the heck he was...
Why thou... if it doesn't 'give' anything away to old for the part, not what you imagined???
amynicole21 replied: Yea, not really what I imagined I guess. I pictured more of a Harrison Ford type. Someone a bit more serious I guess.
DVFlyer replied: IMO, it will be two different expriences; one not necessarily better than the other. The movie restricts you to what the director/ producer, etc want you to see. Reading the book lets YOU be the director/ producer etc.
marialeca replied: I read the book its pretty good, I would watch the movie first before reading the book. I did the opposite with one of the Harry Potter's movies, I read the book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban when the book came out, then when they release the movie,( because I didn't remember the book much), I read it right before watching the move, BIG mistake, I didn't enjoy the movie at all, because the book was so fresh in my mind all I did was compared them both, noticing all the thing they miss, etc, etc. So just watch the movie first and then read the book. and if you like the book, read Angels and Demons from Dan Brown too, pretty good book.
Maria Garcia
CantWait replied: ITA, I've read both and Angels and Demons was 10x better. I can't wait to see the movie, although that won't happen until Ron comes home. Maybe my friend will babysit one night for us so that we can do something alone before we move.
ashtonsmama replied: I haven't read the book yet, but kind of want to...maybe see the movie first, then read it?
luvmykids replied: I have to read the book first, I can't ever see the movie first or whats the point in reading the book? If you read the book first, then yes, you already know whats going to happen in the movie, but to me the movie brings the book to life. If I saw the movie first, it would just ruin the book for me.
My3LilMonkeys replied: I am probably in the minority here but I always prefer the book over the movie if the movie is based on the book. I will probably see the movie eventually, but I'm in no hurry because I know there's no way that the movie will be as good as the book in my eyes.
I also agree that Tom Hanks wasn't the best choice for the main character - I picture him as a more serious, distinguished person.
holley79 replied: I have the book and plan on reading it when Annika is about 18 because that is when I will have time. Not really but I do plan on reading it first. I dont' like watching a movie then reading. Kind of ruins it for me. JMO
~~*Missi*~~ replied: I hope that is YEARS and not months LOL.....
I have the book and have been fascilating on whether or not reading it..... I worry that i will like some of you my goodness why did they pick him or her... I know when i took books and movies (YES IT SERIOUSLY IS A ENGLISH CLASS LOL) in high school we read the book then saw the movie and the test was basically all about the differences and i worry that if I read the book i will look for differences....
