Debt Diet - July 20th
Our Lil' Family wrote: Ok ladies, post up here your daily totals.
I know for a fact I will spend $5 on Mother's Day Out....then I have to go to the evil WalMart for a few things, but I'll try to be good.
3_call_me_mama replied: Paid car insurance $247 ($70 comes form my brother as he is on our ins) this is for 2 months insurance. Paid Home owners ins $187 covers 3 months Paid Home owners association fee for the year $50 Dish washing detergent, baby carrots and peaches at costco $18 and that's all for today.. (grocery stuf was actually last night) and we're stuck here al day as the refrigerator repair guy is coming sometime between 8 and 5 to do our yearly service on our fridge. (Which was included for 5 years when we bought our fridge last year! So no cost there.
DH got paid last night and I kNOW that it's going to be extremely tempting to spend a bunch of it on vacation this weekend, and he's off al next week, so we gotta be super careful or we'll both WAY over spend.
May not post over the weekend as we're at teh inlaws for 4 days and I dont' use the net much there. BUT i will post my total spent on Tuesday when we return.
coasterqueen replied: You know there is something to be said about living paycheck to paycheck because there is never any money to tempt me besides my weekly alloted spending money. Oy!
Anyways, I was sooooooo bad this morning! PLEASE don't tell my DH. He'd hog tie me if he found out what I did. I forgot my breakfast this morning (organic eggs and oatmeal) and was STARVING because I only had a teeny tiny dinner last night SO I stopped at McD's for breakfast. Oy! He's gonna flip....only because we agreed not to eat at McD's ANYMORE. So I spent $4.59 on breakfast this morning. BLAH! Thank goodness for change because I was broke and had no other way to pay for it.
PrairieMom replied: i'm proud of myself. i went to barnes and noble for story time again last night and didn't buy a thing! Today is house cleaning day so i will be staying home and saving $ today too!
My2Beauties replied: We;; I spent $2.73 on two cokes downstairs in the lobby shop, because I owed my girlfriend one here at work from the other day when she bought me one and I bought myself one. And in about 5 minutes I'm leaving work for the rest of the day for my hair appt. $80-100 So today is another awful day for me spending money wise!
Our Lil' Family replied: So far today,
$5 at MDO $76.63 at WalMart. That was for printer ink, which was $27!!!!! A universal remote since we think Thomas beat ours too many times, that was $16. Cake mix, crisco, batteries, and I splurged and bought some Key Lime Pie ice cream that I've been dying for. DH approved that one last night when I was once again talking about it!!
I also am going to get Popeye's for lunch but I have a coupon so that'll be about $3.50.
Total for today: ~$85.00 OUCH
luvmykids replied: Oh, that sounds sooooo good!
I have a counseling appointment today, she doesn't take insurance so that will be $60 but a complete necessity. I need to pay vet and feed bills for the horses but they aren't quite due so I'm trying to decide if I should pay them, or put some money in savings and pay them next week.
I've got to get a true budget worked out because the kids need to get registered for pre school ASAP but I'm not sure what I can truly afford since I don't ever budget, I've always had wiggle room and could just do it and wing it but I need to make sure I'll be able to afford it and not hang myself down the road.
Anyone saving for Christmas yet?
PrairieMom replied: I am. We have a jar that we put $100. a month in. By christmas we have $1200.00 to buy gifts with. It really helps put the joy back into the holidays! no CC worries!
TheOaf66 replied: My work is doing a "back pack drive" for kids that can't afford school supplies so I am going to buy some stuff for that and also it is our turn for snack for Tanner's t-ball tonight so I have to get juice for the team.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Nope, not saving for Christmas...that sounds like a great idea, though.
Today I have to buy a birthday gift and I'm going to use my gymbucks at gymboree $25.
I'll try to only spend about $30 today...we'll see
AlexsPajamaMama replied: That does sound goood!
$5 something on a 2 coffees and blueberry muffin at dunkin $160 car payment
but I made $45 cleaning my Dad's house! does that count!?
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Can I play, too?
Today, my first day off work, I spent ~$80 at the grocery store. But $30 of that was for daycare. Our provider cuts us a break for costs and we provide 2-3 lunches and 1 breakfast per month. Then I took $40 out of the ATM for various expenses this weekend at the cabin. So, $120 today, but $90 for me and the household.
mamasbigbaby replied: You girls are so silly!
PrairieMom replied: totally!
I signed up for a call shift for after I go back to work, in the very least that will be $24. for me!
coasterqueen replied: Spent $70.86 at the store for groceries today. Saved $10 because I went today (every other Thursday get $10 off $50 worth of groceries ). Still have $80 left in my grocery budget to last me two more weeks. Oy! Price of organics I guess.
That's it for me today. I'm going straight home after work.
ETA I think Dh is saving each month for Christmas. He usually does. I just don't pay attention to that stuff.
Our Lil' Family replied: Oh it is!!!
I'm not saving for Christmas but I picked up a side job that will pay me over $250 at the begining of November so that'll go towards Christmas, it may be all we spend, it'll be a small Christmas this year!
AlexsPajamaMama replied: What brand of icecream is it? I wanna check that out! Grocery day is tomorrow
PrairieMom replied: I just got my pay stubb in the mail. Bening on maternity leave I totally lost track of the fact that this is payday! Its an extra one for this month too, so I am about $400. richer than I thougth I was going to be!
Jackie012007 replied: "You know there is something to be said about living paycheck to paycheck because there is never any money to tempt me besides my weekly alloted spending money. Oy!"
haha me too! yet again no money to spend... all we have until next thursday is a walmart gas card with $12 on it and we are holding onto it for dear life until we ABSOLUTELY need it!
Our Lil' Family replied: Bluebell
www.bluebell.com
Key Lime Pie - Contains sweet and tangy key lime ice cream blended with crunchy graham cracker crust and a creamy whipped topping swirl.
kristy-n-chad replied: I need to get some formula ( darn this clogged duct and other painful BF issues I am having right now...I have to supplement each feeding bc I can't pump enough ) but I have a coupon for $10 off, which helps. Also need quarters for laundry, so we'll see.
PrairieMom replied: oh yummy. if I put it on the list I can get it right? DH told me to put a New car on the list for him last night!
PrairieMom replied: Augh! I just remembered, I'm off diary. Well, I guess THERE'S $ saved.
coasterqueen replied: I wish it worked that way. Well I guess it does if you can pay for it. (The car that is. )
Our Lil' Family replied: Hey, if it's on the list then it must be a necessity and not an impulse buy!
My3LilMonkeys replied: I spent $0 today! And now I'm done counting for awhile, I'm not going to keep track while we're on vacation because I have a set amount of cash I'm taking and when it runs out we're done spending.
mamasbigbaby replied: Silly billies!
My3LilMonkeys replied: Can I ask why you think this is silly?
coasterqueen replied: Ok, first off just to say this is grocery/cleaning supply week (done every 2 weeks) so I feel like I'm spending lots of money, but it's on necessities.
Wasn't going to go get cleaning supplies tonight but decided to anyways. I spent $13.00 at Petsmart for a case of catfood. I spent $77 at Target for cleaning supplies, diapers, etc. $21 of that was for stuff I REALLY didn't need and I feel guilty about it so, don't laugh, but I'm taking it back tomorrow when I go out by there. So I will have spent $56 instead.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I spent $25 at the ER for my copay. And $10 at Walgreens for bandages and stuff.
That's it. $35 today. I obviously didn't make it to Gymboree. That's where we were headed when the mirror fell.
And BlueBell makes the BEST ice cream. I feel sorry for those of you who don't get it. Naomi have you tried the Strawberry Shortcake (new this season) We just finished it off last night. It's SO GOOD!!! There's also a canteloupe and cream that's good...so much better than it sounds. And a turtle with chunks of chocolate covered caramel candies in it. That's my mom's favorite. The turtle and canteloupe came out last summer.
Our Lil' Family replied: Yes I feel sorry for them too Aimee! My original desire was for the Lemon Icebox Pie one but they put that out of rotation, that's what the BlueBell man told me today. The strawberry shortcake one sounds great too....not too sure about the cantelope one, although I do love cantelope.
Karen.....I will be SO proud of you if you return that stuff to Target. That takes guts, I know I probably wouldn't. Go girl, you can do it!
luvmykids replied: No laughing here, if I returned just half the stuff I don't need from Target I'd probably have college money for all three by now. Good for you!
