Dh lost his job & I've been sick - but at least some things are

kit_kats_mom wrote: going well.

$ will be tight for a bit here until he finds something else. I doubt that will be long because he's been interviewing for the past month at other companies anyway. He hated this job but the money was hard to beat.

I'm one of those people who hit survival mode when something like this happens though. I immediately hit the web to start looking for insurance options for DD in case our coverage lapses, looked at quicken to see how much extra we need in addition to my income to meet our obligations etc. People are being so awesome though. My maid said that she will keep my slot open for a month so that if DH finds a job soon, we won't lose our spot. The lady who watches K said she will work with us. I was really worried that we were going to have to pull K out because it is so expensive and K has really started to look forward to going and playing with her friends. She calls the two kids on the phone and draws them all the time. tongue.gif Anyway, She said that we can pay her half and still take K out there and when he gets back to work, we can settle up. She said that usually she couldn't do it because she is a single mom and she depends on this income but that her tax return has come in and she has some flexibility. I am so relieved. WHEW!

Well, I'm off to see if my DH's ego needs some TLC...even though I'm kinda ticked off...trying not to let that show through...playing the supportive spouse and all. We will definately have a discussion when this has blown over though. mad.gif

Calming vibes please.... sad.gif

Jamison'smama replied: So sorry to hear that--sending lots of calming vibes and 'find a job quickly' vibes as well!

Hang in there!

Proudmom2Hope replied: sending you calming vibes~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I hope he finds another job soon. and that was so sweet that your sitter is helping out.

coasterqueen replied: So sorry to hear DH lost his job. I hope he finds a new one quickly. Sending him ~~~good luck vibes on the job hunting~~~.

That's cooll that people are working with you during this time. I just gave up my maid service so we could save $$ a bit to put it towards our basement project. Sniff, sniff. I get it back as soon as we get a bit ahead, hopefully by the end of the year. I'm gonna miss it sad.gif.

((HUGS)) and I will keep you all in my thoughts.

A&A'smommy replied: UGH I'm so sorry! (((BIG HUGS))) and LOTS of calming vibes! I hope he finds something better than what he had soon!

MommyToAshley replied: Oh no! I am sorry that your DH lost his job. I know that must be stressful, and I hope he finds something soon. Maybe he will find a better job that he really likes.

Sending some Good Luck vibes to your DH!

Boys r us replied: Sorry to hear about his job! That's rough..but it sounds like you've got a lot of awesome people in your lives who are going to help make this tough time a little more tolerable for you all!
Good luck on him finding something bigger and better soon biggrin.gif

I am really happy to hear that everyone is working with you! It must be such a relief to know you don't have to worry about some things!!

Elle replied: I'm so sorry to hear that grouphug.gif
Thank God people are being supportive. That must help to take it a lot easier...
Hope your DH finds a job soon!

DansMom replied: It sounds like you are maintaining the best attitude possible! Here's hoping that everything works out quickly for your finances and DH getting a better job. Keep us posted!

California Girls replied: I'm so sorry to hear that! We have totally been there. I know it's hard. My DH was out of work for a couple months last year, then when I lost my job I almost fell apart. Hang in there! I hope the best for you and your family!

jcc64 replied: Oh god, Cary, I'm sorry about all that! It sounds like you have really good coping mechanisms for the onslaught of stress. I hope something good comes your(his) way soon! What kind of work is he looking for?

kit_kats_mom replied:
Thanks. Humor & friends always get us though our tough spots eh?

He's looking for anything that will pay the bills that my job won't cover right now. However, he was the IT director at this last job. Pretty much anything technical and related to computers or research. He has his Masters in Library and Information Studies so he has tons of options. Unfortunatally, he's been overqualified for a lot of the jobs he interviewd for recently. dry.gif Luckily, we've been in town long enough to have an excellent network of IT people. I doubt it will take long to find something that will tide us over.

jem0622 replied: Sending you and DH lots of hugs. That really stinks! Hope that he finds something soon. When I was laid off in Aug 01 I didn't start working again until Dec 31 01. Because of 9/11 things were tough. I am so grateful that I found work. Tell him to file for unemployment even if it is just short term. Any little bit helps! I made a HUGE mistake b/c I thought I couldn't collect with a severance package but you can.

Glad that the slots are open for you.

HUGS

jen replied: AWW man cary! that is awful. I hope he finds a job soon that he absolutely loves and banks at too! thumb.gif

I envy your optimisim, that is a great quality to have and makes things much easier I am sure for DH.

Best of luck to him in the job search!

jcc64 replied: My dh is in IT also, yet another parallel-lol. How's the market for that down there? I know there's a lot of growth in Fla right now, but it varies region to region, right?

Kaitlin'smom replied: I am sorry, I hope things look up and you feel better

kit_kats_mom replied:
The market in our town is great. We have two major universities and we are the state capitol so there are a ton of jobs. State jobs don't pay very well though.

He has also been an adjunct professor for a year now at the local community college so he may be able to pick up a couple of summer classes to tide us over if need be.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm so sorry to hear that, Cary! I hope he is able to find something soon. I know just how you feel. Hang in there! You are such a good wife. wink.gif
