Diaper cream! - which product?

MomofTay&Sam wrote: I might be anal BUT I put diaper cream on Sam's bum every diaper change and have not had a rash yet!! Anyone else do this? I think with all the new foods his bum is protected. LOL

ediep replied: I use regular desitin before he goes to bed and desitin creamy for most diaper changes

MomToMany replied: thumb.gif I'm a Desitin user, too, (or the generic equivalent to it, works just as good, and cheaper). It's the stuff that worked the best, although it's been a long time since I've had to use any!

eiramitak replied: I always use Earth Friendly Baby Red Cover Rash Cream

Its way awesome! smile.gif

booey2 replied: Hi, with both my boys we were always told at the hospital to slather on plain old petrolium jelly (Vaseline) with every change. I did this til about 9 months and we used Penetan if they had a diaper rash. Saves a lot of money as the Vaseline is way less expensive and does the same job. thumb.gif

MommyToAshley replied: I use vaseline also for most of the diaper changes. I use aquaphor or desitin if she gets a rash. I love aquaphor...works on everything! smile.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I buy the *el-cheapo-brand* at my local grocery store, in the pharmacy isle.

It's a big container, as big as the other *brand name* creams.... and it's got the same ingredients in it. It's 1.99$ for a jar as opposed to 4.99$ a jar. Although I've only bought it when it was on sale for 1.49$ a jar - I bought 6...so I'm not running out anytime soon. thumb.gif

supermom replied: I must be a bad mommy - lol - I never put anything on my little one's bums unless they got a rash (which, thank goodness, wasn't very often).....when they did get a rash, I either used Desitin (creamy with the newest one, they didn't have that 18 years ago!) or A and D Ointment - it cleared it up in no time at all.

If they were having a bout of diarreah then I used Desitin regular until it was gone, but other than that, nothing on a regular basis. My ped said it was good for their skin to breathe some.

Kaitlin'smom replied:

your not a bad mommy..............I was told to put stuff on her every change, but i dont. I usually only put it on once a day usually at night(but not allways), or if she gets a rash (has only been 1) the I put it on every change until it was gone about 2 days. Oh I use the clear A & D ointment works great!

Schnoogly replied: I never put anything on either and usually wipe down with water a couple of times a day if he's just wet. Unless he looks red then I do a little aveeno diaper cream or aquaphor. He hasn't had a rash except while he was on antibiotics in the hospital and they used 'butt paste' a mix of desitin and eucerin and something else--would not wash off!!!

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Supermom, what a nice pic! I guess that was taken a while ago?

supermom replied:
