Diaper sizes?
holley79 wrote: Ok I think I am off my rocker again. How old were your infants when they outgrew NB size diapers?
I swear these things are too small for her. I went ahead and put a 1 on her and it seemed to fit better. A little big but not really by a lot. The NB seem tight to me and she keeps wetting herself, her clothes and me. So far with the 1 that hasn't happened. Am I maybe putting the stupid things on wrong?
Oh and with the BM thing that she has been having. She still hasn't had one except when I check her temp. I am going to call her pedi tomorrow. I think it is bothering her because she is getting all red faced on me. She also is sleeping better in her bouncer tonight and I think it's because her tummy is hurting.
luvmykids replied: I remember the NB's leaking too. The 1's were only big around the waist, not the legs, is that how they're fitting her? I just tried to make sure they were even in the front and back, KWIM? And pulled the waist as tight as I needed too.
Let us know what the dr says, good luck and hope you get some sleep!
holley79 replied: They seemed a little big in the butt and a little bit int he waist. Around the legs they seemed fine and I did the same with making sure they were even front and back. Guess if it will cut down on her wetting everything who cares if it's a little big.
I will donate the rest of the NB that I have to DCF or something so they don't go to waste.
She is finally asleep in her bassinet and I am ging to go night night myself. I hope that everyone has a good day. It's only 20 minutes till 4 here.
paradisemommy replied: my son was only in NB diapers for like 3 packages and they were the small ones..i think that was about the same with my daughter too...
hope you are able to get some sleep...ya think maybe she is gassy?? cause skyler lived off of milicon drops..BIG HELP..
Freckled Momma replied: All of mine were out of NB diapers really quick. (except for Alex, maybe...but he was a lil squirt). I am sure you aren't putting them on wrong, those things are really small. I would stick with size 1.
Definitely call the dr about the BM issues, let us know what they say
TeagansMom609 replied: I JUST changed Matthew's clothes for the 3rd time because his NB diapers keep leaking. They leak from the waist. Im using Luvs NB which I think are new? I dont remembering seeing them when Teagan was born. Anyway, I hate Huggies diapers but I have used a couple NB samples I had and they seem to work best out of all of the NB diapers. What brand are you using?
C&K*s Mommie replied: If I remember correctly we used the size 1 diapers with both of our girls. And we folded the tops down to bring the leg parts up for a better fit. Except for the diapers from the hospitals we never bought NB diapers specifically. The first time I even paid attention to NB diapers in the stores was the Swaddlers, we got some as samples, and they were great, but we did not buy any.
ediep replied: Jason wore size 1 from birth. the newborn size leaked on him
kimberley replied: i didn't bother with the NB diapers either. we started at size 1 and got 2 big packs since they go thru diapers like mad at this stage. with the boys, they kept exploding up the back in the NB ones Kaleigh outgrew her NB sleepers last week
as for her tummy, it does sound like gas. Kaleigh has the same problem lately. watch what you eat. i am on very bland diet right now because she seems sensitive like Jade and James were. no onions, heavy spices, green veggies and watch excessive dairy intake. we are also doing more tummy time and over the shoulder time to get what we can out. i heard the mylicon drops work well but never tried them. hang in there.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Matt was super skinny and at 7 lbs needed premie diapers for 1 pack and newborn for about 2 months before moving his to 1's. Katy was also skinny but never needed premie. I think she was in NB for a month or 2 also. I know my 2 are an exception not a rule though. when little they needed to be on the high side of the weight range before they would fit. Now Matt needs ones that say they are too big for him.
Kelly- make sure he's pointed down or it doesn't matter what size diaper he has on...it will leak
MamaJAM replied: Actually - we used newborn sized for DD#1 for about 2 weeks....then they didn't fit right. With our other 4 kids - we just started off with size one diapers and folded them down under the cord-stump at first.
coasterqueen replied: Oh gosh, Kylie was out of NB size diapers by the time she got came home from the hospital. We were there about 5 days.
Megan was in NB for quite a while, several months at least. She was a month early and super tiny. Actually we had to use preemie first and she was in them awhile too.
As far as the pooping thing. Breastfed babies can go 10 days or more w/o pooping, that's normal. Even if they were pooping all the time and then not going for 10 days that's still completely normal, although it's unsettling to the parent.
Mylicon drops definitely help and I can't speak highly enough about infant massage. It can do WONDERS for helping little ones with gas and poop. There for a few months I couldn't even get Megan to go poop, she'd go more than 10 days w/o pooping and what really helped her was the infant massage. I started doing that regularly and she had less of a problem with pooping. W/I 30 minutes of a massage and she was having a blow-out.
I have a pamphlet book that was given to me when I took infant massage classes w/Kylie. If you'd like a copy of it, pm me your email address and I can send it to you. I'm sure there are places online you can find info on it as well.
Hang in there! And please don't let your ped tell you to give her juice or something of that nature. Some are notorious for doing that. Oh and not sure why you are taking her temp? Are you doing that to stimulate a BM? First off, the tissue in the anal region is VERY sensitive and can easily be torn. So you have to be very careful doing this. Also, if you are doing it for stimulation of the bowels and continue doing this her bowels might get used to the stimulation and need it to continue to go, which isn't good either. The same goes for laxatives, etc. My sister works in daycare and has seen several poor children having to rely on lax's just to poop on a regular basis. It's awful.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I usually switch to the next size up when Andrew is the lowest weight on the package - like if size 2's say they fit 12-18 pounds I put him in them when he was 12 pounds, even though the size ones are supposed to fit up to 14 pounds. (I'm not using the real weights I have no idea what they are anymore ) They always seem to get too small he's reached the weight limit. When it came to size threes, though, they were just ginormous and he leaked out of them everywhere so I had to go back to the store and buy more 2's.
Also sometimes if the size he's in aren't fitting him well at the stage he's in, either the supremes or a different brand will fit him better. They're definitely not all the same!
My3LilMonkeys replied: Brooke was in size 1's by 2 or 3 weeks. Madison wore 1 size NB diaper and then the nurses at the hospital started putting 1's on her. She has always had chunky legs though - she is 8 months and in a size 4 currently even though shes 3 lbs. under the lowest weight for that size.
NikkiM replied: We didn't use NB's for very long with Logan or Madison. MAYBE a few weeks.
~~*Missi*~~ replied: I have found don't bother reading the weight and sizes. I jsut go by fit and leaks. Sabrina during the day is fine in a 3 or 4 so she doesn't pee all over and at night SHE HAS to be in a 5
She is 21lb and 35inches tall. So i just go by that/ HTH
Mom2Boyz replied: Caden was in nb's for about a month and a half. We used Pampers Swaddlers and they seemed to work well for us. He's JUST NOW outgrown size ones, and he's 7 months old.
holley79 replied:
Our babies are growing up WAY too fast. LOL. The good thing was I only had two NB size outfits. Everything else is 0-3 and up. The bad thing is I only have two "real" outfits in 0-3 month size. Everything else is sleeper sacks and PJ.
CosmetologyMommy replied: r u bf? If so, I would call the pedi because I heard that bf babies do not get constipated.
MyLuvBugs replied: I think Lorelei was 2-3 weeks old. But she was a big baby to start with, and the NB diapers barely fit her in the first place. In fact we got a sample one yesterday at the Dr. office, and it seems to unreal that she ever fit into diapers that small.
jem0622 replied: With my boys I started off in Size 1s. I just folded down the front to let the belly button air out.
With the girls, they were in NB dipes for 3 mos. Gulp!
Whenever I have had leakage I bump up to the next size. At least for nighttime anyhow.
As for the BMs...not every baby has a daily BM. They can go a week without one! The ped usually worries once they hit day 7.
My2Beauties replied: I don't quite remember but I know Hanna wasn't in NB for long, we used the Pampers Swaddlers and she never ever leaked though
holley79 replied: Thank you all for the input on the diapers and BM. It has been since sometime Friday so I am going to call the Pedi again tomorrow. She still hasn't had one and she gets all redfaced. I have tried everything. Bicycling her legs, sitting her up so "gravity can work it's majic", warm tub baths and giving her a "rub down". NOTHING. She has gas though and I need to remember to get some gas drops when I am out next.
