Did anyone catch the series four - on Dateline??
C&K*s Mommie wrote: It was "To catch a predator~ IV", with the same lies, and concocted caught red handed stories of child predators, wanting to "meet" with young girls who they thought were 13 or 14. One said he wanted to counsel the "girl", most said they only wanted to hang out, and eventually came around to telling some semblance of the truth by admitting they were willing to go further or see where it leads with who they thought was the child.
Only all of their communication with the supposed 13yo, was in transcript form and some of their own words were read back to them, when they began their string of lies. All but one were taken into custody this time, the one that got away never went into any detail about possible "relations" with the 13yo, he kept his communication clean, and even had a alibi letter written out in his vehicle. The police did not arrest him, since he never went into detail while talking to "her" online, he was the one that wanted to "counsel" her.
Totally disgusts me.
Anyone else see this show?
kit_kats_mom replied: I didn't watch it since I'd seen their other shows like that but I thought I'd heard that this one was in Florida...like in the tampa area...near me. Lord help any person who tries that with my daughters. They'd better hope that they get arrested because I seriously think my DH (and myself most likely) would go totally buck wild on thier butt and I'd imagine they'd require hospitalization afterwards.
That just makes me sick. As a survivor of rape at 14, it really effects me in a big way. pervs...lock them all up, maybe with daddies of little girls who are already serving time. lol
ashtonsmama replied: I, like Cary, was also raped at a young age...at 16. So I have especially strong feelings against people like that. Sick and twisted. That's what it is. I can't imagine how a human being would be that sick. I'm glad they covered it on NBC. I also checked into child predators in my area, there's a site you can go to, I forget what it was, I'll go look, but it scared me to see that there was a few in my area, well more than a few.
mummy2girls replied: i watchiong right now... ewwwww
Bee_Kay replied: I watched it .... and I watched the previous ones also.
SICK SICK SICK!!!
At the website where they post their pictures ..... they also post the chat logs. OMG! I read through them awhile ago.... IT IS SICK!!!! He is disgusting at how perverted they talk to (what they think are) children!!!
Some of the chat logs I couldn't even read all the way through. Especially that guy that was a rabbi.
MamaJAM replied: DH and I saw part of that. DD#1 was around and, though we didn't let her really watch it, we used it to explain to her that idiots like those men are why we are so strict and careful about her computer access. We told her that when we (and she, really) were little we were told not to talk to strangers -- but, thanks to the internet, 'strangers' can come right into people's homes and kids' bedrooms...and these 'strangers' are often WAY MORE SICK then ever before.
My DH actually just arranged for a man from our state's attorny general's office to come to the Hebrew high school at our synagogue on Monday night. We are extremely strcit with DD#1's computer access (and none of the other kids are allowed on-line)....and our computer is well locked-down and DH has several safety nets installed (like recording keystrokes so DD can't try to cover her tracks on anything, etc). Some of DD's friends have MySpace pages or similar things and DH and I insist on checking these things out before DD is allowed -- we can not believe the info some of these kids put out there -- full name, city they live in, parents' names, etc. If this is on a public board - I can only imagine what they tell people in a private chat format. Parents need to take control of the computers in their home - or throw them away. It's our kids who are suffering because they are falling victim to sick b******* who have direct acess to them!
**Sorry -- this is an EXTREMELY touchy subject with me. And the info/research that DH has found while helping prepare for this awareness program Monday night shows just how HORRIBLE things are. It's scary.**
JP&KJMOM replied: I did not see it but on the news here this morning they had arrested 2 men that were chatting with what they thought was a 13 yr old girl. It was really an undercover cop and when they went to meet they arrested them. The police force here has a special force that does this sting operation all the time and I am glad.
Kaitlin'smom replied: yes I saw part of it. The one I saw last night they used and 18 yr old actress who looks 14, manily beacuse now of web cams and these preditors now want to see what they look like before they met them. The one guy I saw at first did not want to say what he did for a living he was shocked and said he needed help and kept debating weither to do anything or not even weither to show up. It finally came out he was a 6th grade teacher DH told me they arrested a teacher, lawer, a ped, and someone elce, its so discusting and scary. I just dont understand whats wrong with them.
Bee_Kay replied:
She looked so YOUNG!!
luvbug00 replied: I've seen a coupple of those by differant news people. I sware those men were dumb as rocks. I wanna know where the heck were the parents?? If mya is ever to use IM it will be with me reading it over her shoulder. and i DARE a older man to mess with my baby!!
C&K*s Mommie replied: I posted a reply earlier but I lost it when I hit some button that erased it.
We know that child predators are all around, as sick as it is. But this particular operation, Cary, was in Ohio not in S. Florida. But that does not make much difference since predators come and operate all over. An instructor (for criminal justice!) at my college was arrested before Thanksgiving last year for the same thing, going to meet with who he thought was a young child. He would not be able to show his face again, but I have not heard anything else about him.
What control that corrospondent had to sit across the bar from those would-be ******** and listen to their caught red handed lies, and excuses. And it surprised me too that some of those same lowlifes, had seen the previous shows on the same thing, and they 1) took their chances anyways (and lost BIG TIME) and 2) they knew what came next-- the arrest.
I am soooo pleased that it is a felony to go to "meet" with a child after having explicit communication with them. We all know that "meeting" "counseling" what ever is not the real intention, but I am pleased to know that they will get put away for a long time.
All but that one were apprehended, after they left the sting house. That one sicko only got away because he had an alibi letter, and he never went into exlicit detail and curtailed around the conversations with "her" online. He got off this once, I would not be surprised if that does not work for him again.
C&K*s Mommie replied: That is also why I stay out of Yahoo! chat and other chat places (besides here) because of the sickos that are so friendly in the beginning- making you think that they are 'normal' people looking to have friendly conversation, only to take the conversation to a whole 'nother level in 2 seconds. Happened waaaayy too many times when I first began internet use years ago, and I am not going to even attempt it again.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I saw bits and pieces of it. Does anyone else find it really hard to watch this sort of thing? It makes me so sick to my stomach. I know I need to watch it b/c I have a daughter (and son...he's not excluded by any means) I need to be aware of what is going on, but ignorance is bliss sometimes. I get physically ill and so extremely paranoid when I watch these things. Even some Oprah shows I cannot watch. Am I alone?
C&K*s Mommie replied: No you are not alone Aimee- we are in the same boat. I did get sick to my stomach, and I almost could not bring myself to watch it, but, like you, I know the oblivion cannot go on forever. Ignorance is bliss, but if this makes my trust go down even more, raises my awareness of sickos being in sheeps clothing (i.e. the Rabbi, or the evangelical student) then so be it.
Not only is there enough on our plates as parents protecting our children, from teaching them to not play near the streets because of idiots, to keeping a clear head and not being influenced to try drugs, to being aware that some people have the worst kind of intentions, and kids are the target.
mckayleesmom replied: I watched another dateline one or 20/20 where they did the same thing and one of the guys showed up in his Fireman uniform.....He was later arrested and fired from his job.
