Did you take anything - for morning sickness?

Bamamom wrote: I've fought this for 4 weeks. It's all day long every day. Mostly its just nausea but when I do throw up (or more often just dry heave cause I haven't been able to eat anything) Tripp screams bloody murder and cries real tears - big crocodile ones. It just breaks my heart so I try my best not to let go.

Did any of you take anything for nausea while you were preggo? If so what? I have a call into my OB but I thought I'd see what you guys thought first.

Thanks unsure.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: Ginger root pills. It's a natural way of taking care of the nausea. You can get them at most convenience stores by the other herbs and vitamins. Worked great for me!

C&K*s Mommie replied: I would recco ginger too. Hope it subsides soon for you! hug.gif

I had m/s in the evenings with C, and it was a hunger pang type of sickness not vomiting. I did not take anything for that.

Crystalina replied: My "morning sickness" was out of control and my doc gave me Fenigrin (I doubt that's how you spell it but that's how you pronounce it wink.gif ) It worked like a charm.

CantWait replied: Nope, I suffered through it for 7 and a half months with Robbie, and about 2 months with Anthony.

When I was pregnant with Robbie I didn't know there was anything I could take (I was young and didn't ask my doctor), with Anthony it went away within the first trimester so I was lucky.

flirtycuddle replied: When with my dd I didn't take anything cuz I wasnt really sick but with ds my doctor perscribed phernergen and when that knocked me out in 10 mins reglan. I took the reglan all through out pregnancy cuz other wise I would lose to much weight.

Crystalina replied:
Oh man! I really butchered that word didn't I? Izabella could have done a better job. blush.gif

phernergen , that's what I took also. happy.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I never even knew that anyuthing to help with the morning sickness exsisted....and I lost 25lbs my first trimester with mckaylee and my doctor never even told me anything exsisted.

I had 8 months of it too......I did find that it helped to eat something before I felt hungry....like oatmeal.....If I didn't get a chance to get hungry..I was fine, but if I got hungry and then ate...Make way to the bathroom.

Calimama replied: I heard ginger works. I didnt know that at the time unfort. wacko.gif

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I tried most everything and nothing ever worked for me.

boyohboyohboy replied: i used the pressure point bracelts, i guess they are more for air sickness, but they worked for me, with both preg. i had morning sickness the entire time, and i wore then every min. except in the shower...

i also was prescribed phenergan, but the drug book , as well as the pharmacist told me that they are not recommended because of the preg catagory they fall in, when i asked the ob about it he said, well its like this, you can take the pills and chances are things will be fine, or you can take the risk of getting dehydrated and go into early labor,
i wasnt going to risk it with the meds, and learned to sip ginerale, and wore the bracelets.
i dont like to take meds especially in the first trimester.

TANNER'S MOM replied: Well if you are unable to eat anything at all you need to let your dr know. I had sever morning sickness, it has a name.. something gravtis.. my body rejected the preg. hormones. It was bad. I ended up being feed with tubes they had to put in my chest. My cases were very extreme.

But I say manage the sickness if possible. They gave me Pheragan thru IV and home health nurses. I was out of it mostly.

But I know now they have a pill that works but is expensive.. remember Teagan's Mom Kelly took it.. ladies help me remember here.

My theory is .. no need to suffer.

Brianne.. I gave birth weighing less then I ever got pregnant being. So, I understand. When I gave birth to Justin I was 140..started at 180 Tanner I was 150 but started at almost 200..

BUt I still had babies at healthy weights even though a bit premature.

My2Beauties replied: Good ol' crackers and ginger ale! My MIL swears by phenergen but once when I was sick with the stomach flu and really dehydrated I had to go to the hospital and they shot some of that in my IV - talk about loopy and weird feeling, not to mention I slept on and off for nearly 2 days, I couldn't even function. So I don't even want to ask for that stuff. I didn't think about Ginger Root I'm going to try that.

jacobsmama replied: The over the counter stuff the other girls recommended is great. I agee that if you can't keep anything down you need to let your dr know but they can call you in a few different things.

Phenergan---suppository or tablet but will make you sleepy most likely

Zofran---Expensive but works like a charm

Pepcid---I know sounds crazy but sometimes acid reflux make it worse try some over the counter and see if helps

Good luck! I was sick until about 30 weeks and lived on Zofran. HOpe you feel better soon! hug.gif

Crystalina replied: See now, the phenegren was not strong for me at all. It took away vomiting and left me feeling great. I didn't get tired or feel weird at all. It must just effect differant people in differant ways. I had it for both of my pgs and would def. use it again.

flirtycuddle replied: When I got the phenergren my doctor perscribed me 12.5mlg but the pharmisicist didnt have that dose so he gave me 25 and I totally forgot and took a whole one. I was home alone with my dd (a yr at teh time) and went to sleep with in 10 mins. Even when I took a half of one I still went right to sleep. It took away the nausea and I could fuction but felt so out of it I called my doc right back. That is when he gave me reglan for the m/s and that helped with out the not myself feeling. I suggest calling your doctor and talk to him/her.

Oh yea I was given the phenergren in my IV when I was in the ER for gallstones and I thought I was going to die cuz it hurt so bad.

Bamamom replied: Thank you guys so much! I'm sorry for just now replying but I have been seriously laid up. I wasn't sick AT ALL with Tripp. This has got to be a girl.

The dr put me on B6 with half a Unisom twice a day. You have to take the b6 by itself for a week to let it build up in your system then add the Unisom. I start the Unisom today. He swears it works better than Phenergen. We'll see.

I sure do appreciate your help. I've been living off Cheese Nips and icey Coke. Had my 10 week appt yesterday. I've only lost 2 oz so I'm really proud of myself.

I'll let you guys know how the new remedy works. Please keep thinking/praying for me!

Miss and love yall
