Diets that work and don't work so well
tammyhopkins wrote: I was wondering does anyone have a diet that worked really well for you to lose weight. i went on Atkins and lost 40 pounds but 2 years later i am starting to climb again.
If so what diet is it.
Just wondering
moped replied: You did really great on Atkins, but i have to wonder about the fat consumption......
When I try to lose weight I cut out most white things and drink a PILE of water......not much help!
booey2 replied: Hi, I haven't been around here for a while but had a few minutes so wanted to post. I am currently following weight watchers doing the CORE plan and have been for the last year. I have successfully lost 25 pounds in that year (1/2 a pound a week) and have kept it off even during the really bad times at the beginning of the year. I find the weight watchers is more about changing your lifestyle and not neccessarily dieting. JMO HTH.
moped replied: I have heard that Core program is great!
Calimama replied: What's the core plan? I've never heard of that.
booey2 replied: Well it is awesome, especially in the summer with all the BBQ's and social functions. What it is, is basically eating healthy foods from a large list. Basically it consists of none processed foods, no breads and you still get food points to use on foods not on their lists. I have really not had to give up any of my favorites, other than bread but I do use the extra points I am given for it so I am still not deprived. I used to have a link to a CORE file but it is no longer valid. I do have a file at home with the extensive list I could email once I am home. It is much easier to me rather than worrying about points, the key is still portion control no matter what program you follow, even too much of the healthy stuff is not good for you.
Calimama replied: That sounds really good.
tammyhopkins replied: That one does sound good. I tried Weight watchers when i was breast feeding and that really did not work very well during that time. They say the slower you loose the longer it will stay off.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: My mother and MIL did the Dr. Bernstein diet. If you have a lot of money to spend, it's worth it. They both lost about 60 to 80 pounds each in about 1 year.
It's about 165$ a week, and you have to have lots of shots.
I prefer the Sacred Heart Medical Diet. Works fine for me when I need to lose a quick 5 pounds.
tammyhopkins replied: What is the sacred hearts diet?
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Basically it's a fat burning soup. It uses up more calories to eat it than it has in it. it's a 7 day plan. You have fruit the 1st day, with the soup. Then you have veggies. Then fruits and veggies. Then steak and tomatoes. Then a baked potato and some bananas.
Ot something like that. I could send you a copy if you like - online I mean...
It's a tough diet in the sense that it's very VERY boring. But you can spice up the soup as you like it. It works good for a the week. I always find I have more energy, and I lose a quick 5 pounds... but man is it a boring diet, you need strong willpower.
It's said though, that it's used in hospitals for obese people who need to lose lots of qeight quickly before surgery.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I joined LA weight loss in January and have now lost 34.6 pounds. I've averaged just a bit less than 2 pounds per week. It's been a lifestyle change, but I love it and it's made me feel better than I have in forever.
grapfruit replied: Is that expensive? And do you have to "go" to a LA weight loss center?
I've never "dieted" per say. I've just been trying to eat less (and better) and exercise. But my pants haven't been fitting good yet. But honestly I've JUST started using the treadmill. Before I was just doing about 80 crunches and 40 leg lifts each morning...(for about a month now)
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: It costs between $5-8/week. And you have to pay upfront. but I needed the motivation that an investment of that size gave me and I also needed someone to hold me accountable. Otherwise, I lose 10 - 15 pounds and then I quit. I know that about myself, and LAWL has totally helped keep me honest.
