Do You Live Near Your Family? - mysweetpeawil's post got me wondering..
Crystalina wrote: My husband was born and raised here and his whole family lives here except for one of his sisters who moved to Indiana. My mom and all my siblings live here with their families. I would never be able to live away from them, I would die. That's just how everyone around here is.
People I've went to school with or have known move away for a better job or whatever but they always come back to settle here with thier families. It's a beautiful little town.
luvmykids replied: My dad/stepmom live in San Diego, about a 16 hour drive. DH's mom/stepdad live in Utah, about 12 hour drive. My mom lives 5 minutes away and FIL lives 3 hours away, it used to be vice versa because we lived in the same place as FIL for awhile. We're moving again probably at the end of the summer and will be 3 hours from my mom again and 6 from FIL.
All my extended family is about 4 hours away.
mummy2girls replied: yes my whole family lives near me... my mom lives 20 minutes from me ...
Lynda836 replied: I'm really close to my family, so it broke my heart when me and my husband had to move to the opposite end of the country due to my work. To top it off, I had just found out I was pregnant. I feel so bad that my mom only gets to see her only grandchild be email and the occasional trip home.
CAMSMOM1 replied: My entire family lives in the same city as we do. (All are about a 20-40 min drive). My Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, Stepbros/sis, grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins....all right here near me!
We're such a close nit family. When we were going to move out of state last year, everyone protested and wouldn't let us leave! I'm glad they didn't, because I would be so homesick. I'm especially close to my sister & parents. And Cam gets to grow up with his family, and cousins. I wouldn't have it anyother way.
The only family members that don't live here is my grandparents (on my dad's side) that live 2.5 hours away, at the beach. So it's nice to drive to visit them, cause we get a nice vacation @ the beach with them.
And DH's Grandpa lives in Oregon, which is an 9 hour drive for us. Another beautiful place to visit.
paradisemommy replied: nope..i'm the only one that lives in hawaii..my mom/dad and 2 sisters live in washington state and my brother lives in tampa...we're all over!!
all of dh's family is here...we live about 30 to 40 min. away from them...
Nina J replied: We all live close, I wouldn't have it any other way.
CantWait replied: We live nowhere near family, and only get to see them about once every couple years. Hopefully when we move this summer, although we'll still be two provinces away, it'll only be a 13 hour drive and we'll be able to visit at least once a year.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Nope, Aaron's family all lives in Indiana, with the exception of his brother who lives in Colorado, still about a 8-9 hour drive from us. My family lives all over, I have a brother in Ohio, a sister in Texas and my parents are in Oklahoma. And my grammy still lives in my home town in Wyoming so she is only 260 miles away.
luvbug00 replied: when we lived in our apartment our famililes were 10 min away.or less. We live with them right now and in the future I want to stay close to them too.
gr33n3y3z replied: My inlaws are right below us so its a 1 min. walk lol my brother lives 30 min. from us and My sister is 1 hours and 30 min from us maybe a little longer
giffmom replied: Yes my parents live about 10 min away my oldest sister 15 min my youngest sister is about 1hr an 1/2 she lives the farrest away from me. My in laws live about 20 min away so we all are really pretty close. My husband always talks about moving away somewhere but I could not bare being away from my family.
Momof3inMe replied: My family is pretty close to us. Everyone is no more then a 45 minute drive. DH's family is another story they are all over the place. He has one sister in Ohio and another in Florida and one is Virginia.
BAC'sMom replied: My mother lives right next door to us, within about 50 yards. My sister and brother and their families live in the same town as I do. My oldest sister and my father live around Houston about 175 miles away. My other brother & SIL live in Wichita, Ks. And my FIL lives in Corpus about 35 miles away.
CosmetologyMommy replied: I was born and raised in Chicago. I even had the same 8 th grade teacher as my mom. I moved to the burbs when I was 15 and all my family lives in Illinois except for my grandpa's sisters and brothers, who are in West Virginia.
3xsthefun replied: Yes, all of my family is pretty close. One of my grandma's is our neighbors.
My parents live about 5 mins from us, my other grandma lives about 2 mins away, 2 aunts that live only couple mins away.
My husband's parents live about 15 mins away from us. His sister lives in Virginia.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: we used to be really close to both of our families. NOw we moved out of state as did my mom and sister(she moved here years ago). We are about a half hour from my mom, and about the same from my sister. my other sister is in Texas (CO here) and everyone else is witih an hour of each other in southern California. I might get homesick but would never stay put just because other people couldn't get past us doing something that was in the best interest of our family (not saying anything about you Ann...I promise) Dh's parents were actually shockingly supportive of us moving because they knew that we would never be able to move forward and have the lifestyle that we wanted (like me home with the kids) in an area where the cost of living is so out of control. Also by moving away we made our own "family" out of friends and having so much real "family" in CA we would never have done that
holley79 replied: Dh's and mine's parents live here. My grands/ aunts/ uncles all are in Central Florida, Texas and TN.
My3LilMonkeys replied: My parents/older sister are about a 15 min. drive away. Younger sis is 15 min or so in the other direction.
MIL is right across the street, SIL#1 is my next door neighbor, and SIL#2 is less than a mile away.
Edward's Mommy replied: We live 10 minutes from my parents and 30 minutes from Chris' mom (his dad died when Chris was 18). And Chris' sister lives in California, but will be moving back to Colorado in May or June. My brother lives with my mom and dad.
MamaJAM replied: Yes.....we live in the same city as both my parents and ILs. I definately consider it a 'mixed blessing'. While I have 4 willing (free) babysitters near-by...I also have to deal with MILs 'drop in' visits and my mother calling daily.
b&bsmom replied: My family and dh family live close by. I wouldn't be able to live far from my family either I am with you I couldn't live away from my family. My mom is from Va and I know she misses being there and with her brother I can't imagine being away from my family.
Brias3 replied: Until recently, we were a whole continent away from family. Now, my parents and siblings live within a half hour, as does his parents and two brothers. His other siblings are about 2 hours away and our extended family is within an hour or two for the most part.
JP&KJMOM replied: All of our family lives in Texas with the except of my brother (Kansas) and one of Jason's sisters (Minnesota). Of course all living in Texas is kinda a joke cause it is so big. We are 5 minutes from my parents, 2 and 1/2 hours from inlaws (thank goodness) and the rest of the family.
Kalyne's mom replied: We used to live near our family, but we moved halfway across the country almost a year ago. I haven't seen most of my family since then. I didn't realize how hard it would be until we moved. I suppose I always took for granted being near them.
ions_momma replied: We live a few hours from most of our family. The closest family that we have around us is about 30 minutes away, and is my brother. My sister and parents both live in my hometown still, and DH's parents and his siblings all still live in thier hometown. We are thinking about moving back closer to our family after DH graduates this year though!
ilovemybaby replied: Yes. They all live in the same town. 1 minute drive. Unfortunately. LOL jk. I love being near my parents. But not my inlaws.
kayla's mama replied: I used to live in the same town as our parents..then about 4 years ago we decided to move 5 hrs. away But they come down to see us atleast 4-6 weeks. If more than 6 weeks go by my mom is having a break down of not seeing her Kayla
ashtonsmama replied: Ryan's parents live pretty close, but mine live farther away...my brother and younger sister live in NY, but my older sister lives 3 hours from us.
Jamison'smama replied: Okay, we have similarities here--We are in Ohio, my family is in Oklahoma and DH's family is in Texas.
I also have a sister in Memphis. We all see each other 3-4 times a year. I can't wait to move to Texas and spend more time with the family!
Chiflata2003 replied: My dad's family resides in West Virginia, and my parents and mom's side of the family resides in Houston, TX. We are 3 hrs away in Louisiana b/c the Army felt the need to punish us (I hate this base more than anything).
PrairieMom replied: I live about a 5 minute walk from my parents and the home I grew up in. We didn't plan it that way, it just worked out.
DH lives 12 hours away from his parents tho.
The farthest I have ever lived from my family is 1 hour, when I went "away " to college!
