Do you believe dreams have hidden meanings?

DillsMommy wrote: I've been wondering this for a while. Do you believe certain dreams have hidden meanings? Does anyone have reacurring dreams? I'm not sure if I believe in this, but I find it very interesting. I have several dreams that I have over and over again. One is where I'm in an elevator and it falls. That's gotta mean something right?

moped replied: I do believe that some dreams have meanings - a while back I got right into all that stuff....but I stopped because it sort of stressed me out analyzing everything - but yes I sure do!

moped replied: I have been told that if it seems bad it is usually the opposite.

gr33n3y3z replied: if I finnish a dream out and remember it then its a done deal

If I cant finnish it out and remember it then it will happen in the real meaning I've been there and done it right down to the same ppl. too

DillsMommy replied:
I've heard that too. Like if you dream of a death I think it means inner changes or a big change in life.

moped replied:
I have all sorts of books and stuff but haven't opened them for a long long time. If I dig one up I will check it out for you

grapfruit replied: I dream of tornados all the time. Lots and lots of them. Like in that movie "The Day after Tomorrow" with the scene in LA. That's how many tornados. I've never been "hit" by one. I just see them and am usually hiding/running from them. I usually remember the dream too, even well after I'm wake and moving around. The other night I dreamt of taking a shower in a huge (like 10+ people could have fit in it) bathtub with a shower curtain. The strange part was that it was outside, and the neighbor who was mowing his grass (it was night by the way), pulled the shower curtain back to look at me. There was a little more to it, but it ended with me screaming and running inside and my boyfriend and his dad loading the tub up on a trailer and hauling it away. It was really bizarre.

TheOaf66 replied: yeah don't go in an elevator anytime soon laugh.gif laugh.gif

cameragirl21 replied:
yes, dreams absolutely have hidden meanings, and some are not so hidden either. i used to do dream interpretation and still do sometimes but not quite as much as i used to and all dreams have meaning...as long as you remember the details. wink.gif
recurring dreams especially have meaning, it's usually your subconscious trying desperately to tell you something.

Boo&BugsMom replied: If dreams do have hidden meaning I'd like to know what my son's dream meant from his nap yesturday. He said a friend of his was making a sandwich and I wouldn't let him make one and he got upset! wacko.gif OK......

redplaydoh replied: I have a recurring dream that I'm walking through an abandoned amusement park and walk underneath the framework that supports the roller coaster and just as I'm about to cross over the tracks an empty out of control car barrels down on me and I'm frozen with fear in that spot. I always wake up just as it is about to hit me so I never know what would happen... but the weird thing about it is, that while walking under the framework I'm saying to myself. "This is just like that dream I had.... I wonder if I'm sleeping and this is just another dream???" Then I tell myself that it is probably a dream and remind myself NOT to cross over the tracks but I am there doing it before I realize it.

cameragirl21 replied:
this suggests that you fear you may be doing something wrong with respect to your children and that it may come to haunt you once they're grown.
btw, i want to stress that it doesn't mean that you ARE doing something wrong, it's just a reflection of your thoughts, anxieties and insecurities.

redplaydoh replied:

Weird... y'know you're absolutely right. I never thought of it that way. My biggest fear is that I am a failure as a mother. I'm always finding ways I could improve... I know I'm not a bad mother but I'm always feeling I should do more kwim? I've asked my mom if she too had those fears and she said it was natural. She said that I do so much for my boys that she doesn't know a mother that is better. She points out all the nature walks, zoo/animal park trips and fun places, that I read to them, sing and dance with them and they are well cared for and loved most of all. But I still think (like tonight), I didn't read them their bedtime story... I lost my temper and yelled at them today... I didn't cook a good enough meal... I don't think they got all their fruit/veggie servings in... I should've changed their sheets YESTERDAY and I still haven't done it, the poor kids are probably sleeping on dirty sheets... I could just go on and on. I really can beat myself up in the evenings. So I can definately see where I dream things like this when I do go to bed. Btw, you've asked before and my name is DeAnn.

cameragirl21 replied:
hi DeAnn, i'm glad i know your name because i always feel so rude referring to everyone by their screen names.
i just want to stress that the dream does NOT mean that you ARE a bad mom, it just exposes your fears, anxieties and insecurities. it's not just a reflection that you feel you're doing something wrong with your kids but also that you feel the clock ticking and that sometime down the road you will pay for any mistake you made and it will be irreversible.
just for the record, i think it's perfectly normal for moms to not always change sheets on time, to not always give their kids enough fruits/veggies and the yelling and getting frustrated is DEFINITELY normal as long as you're not yelling to the point where the whole neighborhood hears you and fears you. wink.gif
the dream may reflect that you're being too hard on yourself and that your fears are overblown or exaggerated.
also, since you're always waking up before the outcome, it indicates that whatever is bothering you can still be changed and your future is still up in the air. smile.gif
