Do you believe in EVP? - ghost activity mentioned

i knew about EVP long before this movie came out, you all know how i feel about ghosts and that i am not afraid but when i learned about EVP it made me uneasy. many people encouraged me to try it because i would likely hear much from the other side and from many but i was uneasy and for me to be uneasy...that should speak volumes because you all know how i feel about this.
anyway, there is a way to do this but i don't want to say it here because i really don't want to encourage anyone to do this, if you don't know what you're doing you are asking for trouble.
many messages have been overtly threatening and while i don't think anyone can be harmed by it you could be asking for trouble as in, what you're inviting into your home and life if you know what i mean.
just wondering what other people's thoughts are on this, some people, like my GA don't believe in it at all.
what i don't know is, why is that most ghost activity is fairly harmless but EVP often seems to be threatening, doesn't make sense to me and like i said, i suspected it was something bad when i first learned about how to do it.

Never saw a ghost either in my old house or this one and there has been deaths in both so I guess it up to the fact that if they show their face to me or not so far its been not so I will say say until they do then its no

For the voice stuff who knows what is real and what not they have so much fancy equitment this day and age and I wouldnt waist my money on it but thats me.

Now if anyone else believes thats all fine and well

yeah, it's hard to believe in what you haven't seen or experienced.
just fyi, you don't need any special equipment for EVP, a simple tape recorder will do.

Cameragirl from a previous post I think you know where I stand on the whole topic, I have not myself encounterd this type of paranormal but know of someone that has( a family member) Once again I think that all of us are capable, but most are unwiiling to see or hear because of fear of the unknown. I don't think that people should go looking to experiment with things that make them fearful either but not all things from aftelife are there to hurt us, maybe guide or reaasure but normally not hurt. I think alot of people get having a ghost mixed up with having a haunting of a home.. very diffrent things. It's a very hard topic for alot of people.

Rocky, i don't mind telling you how to do it but it's very dangerous. i've never heard of anything good come of it and in some cases, people were haunted by some really weird sh**. it's not the kind of ghosts you and i have seen, you're literally drawing some undesirables toward you.

Turn your XBOX on without any disc in the drive and let it sit at the menu, now wait a little while, you might also want to turn the sound up on the TV.

It makes some darn weird noises, kinda like the ones coming over the baby monitor in SIGNS.

Tell ya made me freak the first time I heard them when I was alone in a shared house. Sends shivers through me when I listen to them.

Seriously these noises could sound like a sort of a language like in Signs as theyr so regular.

my2monkeyboys replied: My whole family (parents, me, sister) has had at least a little experience with ghosts/hauntings. Not sure what the difference is though. (Anyone want to help with that?) So I do believe they are real. I don't know about EVP though since I've never experienced it or even seen a documentary-type show on it. I've seen the movie White Noise, and it scared the crap out of me. I was afraid to be near a static-y TV or radio for a while!
I do believe there is a spiritual plain, though, and that most anything is possible.

just fyi, one thing the movie does not mention is that EVP rarely (if ever) happens on its own. you have to "invite" what's out there to communicate with you that way. you open the channel and whatever is attracted to you comes in.
that's why i say it's very dangerous, you are literally sending out an invitation to whomever and whatever is out there.

MyLuvBugs replied: My cousin TOTALLY believe in it....I'm on the boarder. I like to watch "Ghost Hunters" on Sci Fi channel though. And last week (or maybe two weeks ago now) they did the hotel in Colorado that the Shinning was filmed at.....FREAKED ME OUT!!! I was litterally sitting so close to DH that I could have been wearing his clothes! Oh Gosh! The two main guys were down in the basement and they heard a little girl say "Hello?" and "Who's that?" Stuff was moving in the rooms and they caught it all on video....talk about freaky! I'm soooooo NEVER staying at that hotel. LOL But EVP.....just on it's own.....maybe?

So I guess I'm up in the air about the EVP.

We watch "Ghost Hunter's" too, right after the Colorado one, they "investigated" a castle in Ireland (I can't remember what it was called, started w/an L). It's the most "haunted" place on Earth.

RIGHT in front of the camera one of the guys was literally shoved hard to the ground after "poking" the spirit "with a stick" (he called it a whimp or something like that). It totally freaked him out and they had to help him out of the castle. He was almost in tears and seriously embarrassed by that fact. In the same room 3 different people saw a "face" 3 different times. They all described it exactally the same... FrEaKy!!!!

oooooo, i would love to go there. it's just that i'd want to bring my camera because you can catch a lot of ghost activity on camera but if the spirits knock me over as they did to that guy then i may drop it and that wouldn't be good.....

Yeah, cameras are a LITTLE too expensive to be dropping. Luckily he only had a flashlight in his hand (I think). It was a great episode. I'm pretty sure they caught a LOT on the EVP too...

I mean after my Mom passed away my Dad would say Mom moved the money again only a few ppl. knew about it it was a big red glass vase and full of dimes she would move it around and put it here and there and Dad never knew where it would be plus Dad was the only one living in the house also.

We were all there at the house when my Mom passed away I was to the side of her holding her up along with my Dad and I felt this huge cold air go buy me and the room felt wierd.
What was all that?

Someone had asked about having a ghost and having a haunting.. the diffrence is a ghost is usually harmless.. moving things, being seen, etc and a haunting is when bad things happen that can be dangerous to one, or things like demon spirits that take over pl.. etc. I know I know.. it's a thin line of conversation and I don't mean to upset anyone or to have them think I am crazy!!

Lisa, to answer your first question, it's not a matter of them being able to do more if you invite them via EVP but it's kind of like this--you lock your doors at night to stay safe and yet if anyone really wants to get in they can get past any lock BUT if you leave your doors unlocked and wide open and stand in the doorway and yell, "hey, anyone, you want to come in?" then you are going to get a lot more undesirables than if you lock your door, kwim?
as to your second question, the gust of cold air is a soul leaving one plane and entering the next one...cold air is often a sign of ghost activity, in fact if you get a chill it's often a sign of spirits nearby.
if you want to contact your mom there are safer ways to do it, i would not recommend EVP at all.

because what comes to you via EVP is utilising the electronic realm, it's physically altering the electronic and magnetic field in the room.
also, you're inviting what isn't already there, you're asking it to come to your home and yourself.
your second question, Sarah, depends on whom you're trying to contact and why.

cameragirl21 replied: no, no, Sarah, it's got nothing to do with radiation, it's more a matter of something physically altering your things and quite possibly, yourself. it's one thing to see a ghost, it's another thing when it starts to feel free to mess with your things on a physical level.
also, electronics, particularly radios operate on many frequencies and what commonly happens is the spirits use one of the frequencies.
the true danger lies in what kind of spirits are drawn to doing these sorts of things.

they have each other they dont need me nor do I wish to talk to them
I know deep down they guide me thu life and in tuff times and when I need watching over in any surgery when I feel all alone bc many of times I feel like an orphan bc I have no parents except my in-laws and they are great ppl. but no one can ever replace my parents.
I will see and talk to my parents when its my time to go and I sure do hope its a long time away.

Anyone that reads this I will say one thing and take this advice
I hear so many ppl. say oh I hate my parents and they dont do this and that for me and I will never talk to them and what not.
Just remember this when they are gone and you didnt make your peace it will eat you alive. So a little something to think about bc life is to short bc when its gone its really gone.
