Do you have a favorite city? - And why?

MyBrownEyedBoy wrote: I have been to LA, New Orleans (pre-hurricane), New York City, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Denver, Salt Lake City, Indianapolis, Chicago, Dallas, San Antonio. But I absolutely love Philadelphia, we lived in Cherry Hill New Jersey when I was in high school and I adore Philly. I love the food (cheese steaks, cheese fries, pretzels, bagels, MMMMM!!), I loved the museums, I loved the history and I liked the weather.
So do you have a fave?

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Hands down...NYC! I LOVE that place!! thumb.gif

Of course I haven't been to too many places. tongue.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied: In the US~Charleston SC. They have water and history. I need nothing more.

Internationally, Venice, Italy or Lucerne, Switzerland. Both are astoundingly, breathtakingly beautiful.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I totally forgot internationally. I think Dublin and Edinburgh tie for my fave international city. I love the character of Dublin and they make Guinness there. But the history in Edinburgh was incredible.

CAMSMOM1 replied: Well, I've onlly been out of state ((California)) twice. Once to N.Y. and once to Vegas. Thats so sad! tongue.gif

Even though N.Y. was great, I would have to say Pismo Beach. (most of you probably haven't heard of it) I'm sure you've watched the OC, well it's just like that. It's 2 1/2 hours from my house, it has a GREAT beach, sand dunes, lots of awesome shopping and resturants, and it's "our" spot to go for vacation. It's a nice getaway, and isnt' a far drive. We love to ride our quads there, visit my Grandparents, and eat clam chowder in bread bowls! yummy.gif

I wish I was there right now! cool.gif

jcc64 replied: Well, b/c it's my home base, I'm so attached to NYC. All the different faces, foods, music, culture- but more than anything, I love the energy. I feel so much more alive when I'm there- like I've been invited to a great party that never ends.
I also really loved San Fransisco. I could live there easily, if I tripled my current salary. Only place I've ever been that made NYC look like a bargain. rolling_smile.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: depends on my mood. I've lived loads of places so I'm familar with them.

SanFrancisco is one of my favorites. Beautiful, tons to do, loads of culture etc. But the earthquakes are a bit disconcerting to me. At least here in FL we know when destruction is coming and we can scoot out of the way. KWIM?

Hawaii is awesome for the lazy/beachy hang loose vibe. Plus it's beyond beautiful

Both of those would require massive amounts of money though so I will probably never end up there. Jeanne is right about SF prices. We actually bought a sailboat & moved our family of 4 onto that because we couldn't afford rent in even the most ghetto of SF neighborhoods. It was pitiful really LOL

Tallahassee is dear to my heart for the small town vibe. It also has the southern charm. It's much more South Georgia than FL.

luvmykids replied: I've never been out of the country other than border towns in Mexico. I love, love, love all the places I've been: Las Vegas, San Diego, Phoenix, Austin, Orlando, Miami, Atlanta, Palm Springs. The top 3 though are Vegas, San Diego and Phoenix. We go to all 3 a few times a year.

CAMSMOM1 replied: You guys are so right about SF, thankfully it's only 4 hours from our house. I have a friend who lives there, so it's not to expensive for us to visit.
San Diego is great too. But the beaches are packed, and it's expensive too. Anywhere in California is expensive. Why do I live here? rolleyes.gif
The earthquakes are pretty crazy, but I guess everyplace has it's draw backs.

Edward's Mommy replied: If I hadn't gotten married, I would have moved to San Diego because I love the beach and the weather there! And I love Sea World!!! (Plus I went there with Marching Band my senior year so it also has special meaning)

PrairieMom replied: my favortie place is more of a town. We visited Beaufort NC a few years back, and that place is so cute. I just loved it. It was full of histroy. There isn't much there, so I couldn't live there, but I would like to have an extended vacation there!

kit_kats_mom replied: Oh, another one that I adore is a little place called Newnan Georgia.

it's called the city of homes or something like that. It's about 30 minutes from Atlanta (but I really don't care for Atlanta)

I have a friend who bought a 100 year old farmhouse there and has renovated it. The city is lovely, the homes are old and beautiful and the downtown area is quaint with shopping and some resteraunts. You can walk downtown very easily & my friend rarely uses her car. She walks the girls to preschool, the park, the library etc. It would be great if I could afford a nice old house and if DH didn't mind commuting to Atlanta everyday. LOL

My3LilMonkeys replied: I'm throwing in my vote for none. emlaugh.gif I'm a small town girl - I can't stand big cities.

TeagansMom609 replied: Philly. I lived 10 minutes outside the city for 14 years and always had somewhere new to go when we went out every night. I love the night life there. Can't beat going to Pat's Steaks at 2 am or walking around South Street.
