I know that sounds hilbilly I bet...But today I was picking up yard and went to pick up something green and it was the cord to christmas lights on our 20 foot pine tree! hahah It is just way to huge to take down and put up but you can't see them..
Do you leave your christmas lights up'? (if you put them up )
Brias3 replied: No we don't, we usually take them down after New Years. However, I did have some Valentine's lights that I put up this year out around our front bushes- they were little red light up hearts. My husband calls me pulling out of the driveway one morning and says, "We need to get those Christmas lights off the bushes- that looks so tacky. I thought I took them all off"
jacobsmama replied: LOL bria that is funny! Ya know with everything we all deal with daily who worries about their christmas lights right??? haha
CantWait replied: Ack, sorry but that's one of my pet peeves. Around here, you HAVE to take them down or you can get a fine.
luvmykids replied: I don't leave them up all year, only until March.
kayla's mama replied: That is my biggest pet peeve. We have a house in our neighborhood that still has their lights up. Everytime I drive past it I just want to jump out and take 'em down for them.
PrairieMom replied: Around here we put them up in the beginning of october, and take them down in march. they are up for a long time, but the winters are so cold and nasty that we really don't have a choice but to leave them up.
ediep replied: nope, ours are down after new years
kit_kats_mom replied: Nope we get fined
C&K*s Mommie replied: We have never put up lights, so no. But we still have people in other neighborhoods, as we drive down any of the artery roads to our house, that not only still have them up here in May, but will also turn them on.
To each his own, I say.

BAC'sMom replied: Nope.... take them down the same time I take down the tree. New Years Day!
Bee_Kay replied: I did one year (the curtain kind that go on your eaves) but I never turned them on in the summer ..... come Xmas time, they were all faded out
coasterqueen replied: Nope, drives me batty to see them up that long.

You get fined??! By whom? Since when is laziness a punishable offense? We still haven't gotten rid of the construction debris from our mini- renovation in Nov. Between that and the undesirable ratio of weeds to actual grass in our front yard, we'd be run out of your neighborhood by a lynch mob, Cary!
C&K*s Mommie replied: That would get in the city I live in in violation of city codes and we would have to have that taken care of within 14days (I think- but it may be less) otherwise we could get fined, and summoned to court for violating city ordinances of excessive debris on our property. I only say that because the city had a big round up recently, and people still with hurricane damage from Ivan, and other structures not up to code were given xx amount of days to clean it up, or would have to pay $$ fines, appear in court (or at least they were threatened with it). Our neighbor whose house burnt down in Dec got popped with a citation too. Numerous unused vehicles all around town were given xx amount of days to be put in either their back yard (with at least a 6ft fence on all four sides) or have it taken out of their yard. Otherwise more $$ and possible court appearances.
luvmykids replied: I just had a nasty neighbor turn me in for having a car parked on the street, it looks fine (convertible mustang) and runs, there just isn't anywhere else to park it right now. Everyone on our street parks in their garage, she said it ruins the appearance of the whole neighborhood.
jacobsmama replied: Wow that is crazy some of you could get fined. I also wanted to say that I think leaving them up is one thing but what about those people that leave them up all year (annoying enough) and then TURN THEM ON!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: No, because we don't put any up...but we DO still have our Xmas tree plopped on the lawn in the backyard!! I'm so embarassed as to what the neighbors think! Total fire hazard, but DH wants to cut it up before tossing it out...he just hasn't done it yet! LOL! I remind him every weekend, but you know how it goes!
JAYMESMOM replied: Ours come down but if they are on a tree and you really are not going to notice them in the summer and you are not turning them on that is fine. But if they are on the house and you can notice them it is taccky.
As far as cars, debris, overgrown weeds are city cites and fines people also.
I actually called on my neighbor last year becaue the front of his house looked like jurassic park -- little did i know how bad his back yard was well they checked it out and it took one large construction dumpster to clean it all up.
I hate clutter, debri in yards because animals - rats, coons, etc thrive in that stuff.
Now if it is kids toys, bikes, etc. -- I say who cares.
Nina J replied: DH took them down out the front, but he left them on the back porch because they "look nice", and he likes to turn them on when he goes out there to read at night.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Well I live right in the middle of hillbilly land - a trailer park. We don't have them up, but if you drive around the circle at least half a dozen houses still do (and a few still turn them on). You'll also see at least a few broken down vehicles up on blocks, kitchen appliances on porches or in yards, and lawns that are made up of 99% weeds 1% grass.
And this is the nicest trailer park in the area .
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I can understand why you'd leave them up in a tree like that.
We don't put christmas lights up outside. If we did, we wouldn't leave them up.
