Do you like receiving gift cards?

Some people feel it's too impersonal to receive this - like someone didn't put much thought into a gift. How do you feel about it?

I liek gifts to if it was something that the person put thought into...IF it's the umpteen millionth thing of vanilla scented bath stuff after I have told teh person umpteen million times I loathe the smell of vanilla...GC's are better

holley79 replied: I love gift cards also. When someone asks me what I want I tell them gift cards. They always tell me they are impersonal but I love them. I don't have a problem giving them either.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: It depends. I like it if the store is near me. My MIL always gets me Nordstroms and that's an hour away. But it's the thought that counts. I buy people GC all the time and I know that my ILs think it's impersonal, but who cares. I don't have the time to shop and I typically don't have a clue what to buy someone. So IMO, I would rather someone save the time and just get me a GC.
