Do you play an instrument?

amynicole21 wrote: I took piano and guitar lessons when I was younger, but have no real talent to speak of. I was in the marching band in high school ( rolling_smile.gif ) and played the flute/piccalo... I haven't touched a flute in years though. rolleyes.gif

Nina J replied: Nope. I did take piano lessons when I was about 10, but it wasn't for me.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I play piano, but I haven't had one since I moved out of my parents house so I'm really out of practice. I kind of wish I'd have learned how to play something besides piano too when I was younger. I don't have the patience for it now. tongue.gif

coasterqueen replied: Nope. I always wanted to though. blush.gif

booey2 replied: I took piano as a kid up to Grade 5 and now that Matthew is taking lessons (his school teacher is his piano teacher) every Saturday at our house, I have started to play again. DH even said that my playing has improved since he met me. My mom gave me the piano she bought for me when I was taking lessons, ages ago. Now I have to get to the music store to buy some current song books.

salmndr007 replied: When I was young, my mother insisted that I play piano...needless to say I couldn't read the music so I played everything by ear. After that I took violin, viola, cello and finally ended with bass. I still like picking up a bass every once in a while and fooling around if I get the chance. I have played both electric and acoustic ranging from jazz to orchestral. Ok, so I was kind of a nerd in school

mom21kid2dogs replied: I "played" mellophone (the marching version of a French Horn but in treble clef, thankfully!!) in high school. I only did it because I wanted to win the Arian Award and needed to play an instrument in addition to vocal accomplishments. rolleyes.gif I WAS a really good marcher though! Does that count? tongue.gif

I have my mother's piano which I faithfully dust & tune. My husband claims he's going to learn to play it someday. He already plays trombone & baritone~he's the instrumentalist, not me! O is very interested in guitar.

MyLuvBugs replied: Goodness...My grandmother was a Music Teacher and trained in Opera singing, so she influenced me a lot. In fact, I was minoring in music for a couple years of college, but then I got one of those professors that's a total jerk and he ruined the whole thing for me, so I changed to Geography. smile.gif

I play: Piano (9 years of lessons), Clarinet, Bass-Clarinet, Bari Sax, Tenor Sax, Oboe (UGH), and Tritoms (the only precussion that I liked). I also sing (but not well laugh.gif ).

Maddie&EthansMom replied: No I'm not musically inclined AT ALL! One of my brothers plays the piano (really well by ear) and another plays the guitar, another the harmonica. blink.gif I don't have the patience for any of it, but am very interested in the guitar.

Shaykinmom replied: I took dance (ballet jazz tap ) instead of an instrument. But I alway wanted to play the paino.

5littleladies replied: I play piano and guitar. happy.gif

AlexsPajamaMama replied: I played the clarinet in the school band (yes a band geek) from 3rd grade until I was a Jr in HS!!

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: I use to play the Clarinet in grade school, but there is no way I could play it now!!

MomToJade&Jordan replied: My instrument is my voice. I have been singing since I was 3. I went to Florida State and got a music degree with voice being my principal instrument. Along the way I took piano and guitar. I haven't played either of those ina bit so I'm out of practice. I also had to take a Brass and Woodwands course and a Strings course as well. I got to play the upright bass in that strings course. That was very cool. biggrin.gif

luvmykids replied: I took piano and guitar but didn't stick with either, I really wish my parents had cracked down and made me stay with it. My mom is an incredible pianist and I want to take lessons from her.

Crystalina replied: No, I've learned to play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" on the guitar but that's the extent of it. DH is a differant story, he's a mean bass player and drummer. cool.gif

1lilpeanut2love replied: I played the clarinet from about 4th grade up until 10th grade. I really didn't like it. I never got good!! LOL. tongue.gif

kayla's mama replied: I played the violin in school and haven't touched it since. I really miss playing it though. I also self taught myself the basics on the piano/keyboard. I also married a drummer wink.gif

BAC'sMom replied: Only the violin....when DH is whiny. rolling_smile.gif

Edward's Mommy replied: Flute and Piano

jem0622 replied: I played the piano (lessons) from 4th grade to 7th grade. I played the flute in 8th grade. I'm a little dusty on reading music, but could pick it up again quickly.

My3LilMonkeys replied: I played the clarinet in band (yep I was a geek too) for 8 years. Also did a little bit of sax and trumpet and attempted the flute but couldn't quite get it.

I am self taught on the piano - I can handle Chopsticks and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and that's about it. tongue.gif

Brias3 replied: I've never been musically inclined myself. I wasn't interested in joining any lessons or taking up an instrument as a kid so my mom never pushed it. I was much more into ballet and the like. However, now I find myself wishing I DID know how to play something, anything. My husband is an AWESOME guitar player and does quite well on a piano as well. He lives and breathes music so at least the kids have that influence on them! Ryan currently takes drum lessons and Aliyah did violin for a year but ended a couple of months ago due to lack of interest. I'm hoping at least one of the kids will enjoy playing an instrument!

EvesMom replied: My father, brothers, and I all play the guitar. My mother isn't musically inclined, but is quite an artist, and awesome with a camera.
