Do you send a letter in your Christmas cards?
Calimama wrote: This year I've practically gotten a novel in every letter! You'll be happy to know my 14 cousin got an A on his first test of 2007, my Aunt decided NOT to get liposuction until she can refinance her house, and just to clear up any rumors her sister positively did not get a face lift this past October. Oy.
So is this some custom I've been missing? How long are the letters if you do send one?
luvmykids replied: We don't, and personally I'm not all that fond of them tbh. Hope I didn't offend anyone who does them.
Calimama replied: Yeah I haven't gotten through most of them, some of them are really personal for Christmas card.
PrairieMom replied: We had in the past, but I write a letter to about 30 people every week via e-mail that keeps friends and family up to date, so I didn't really see the point.
boyohboyohboy replied: i write a letter to people we dont see thru out the year, but its mostly just about the kids
CantWait replied: I usually send a little note to those that I don't speak to throughout the year. My aunt, and long time friends, but it's really short. How the kids are and what they've been doing same with us.
Kentuckychick replied: Nope although we keep swearing we're going to make a "mock newsletter" and send it to everyone who tells us about what's going on at "the club" this year or which child has gotten into which unheard of prestigous university of video game creation or which major hospital/medical center they're having tests or procedures performed at these days.
Eeesh
Brias3 replied: NO! I think they are so tacky, no offense. I was actually going to come post something similar though- we got a real doozy from my aunt and uncle that just arrived yesterday. They did their own "spin" on the Night Before Christmas, adding in their own words, and its so inappropriate and strange, its almost funny. I'll refrain from posting any of it, for fear that you all will think we're a bunch of loonies too
Calimama replied: OH! Post it.. I can't be any worse than the lipo/face lift letter!!
Brias3 replied: Oh no, put it this way- I'd have to bleep-type out some of the words in it. Not to mention the other half might just plain offend
It's really unreal, Bruce and I read it, then re-read it and kinda looked at each other like, "Is this for real??"
Anthony275 replied: ha pm me that please
um our christmas card is a picture, dont really write letters with that
lovemy2 replied: You are too funny Denise - we only get one from DH's aunt and uncle - they live in the counnnnttttrrrryyyyy not too much going on there and most of it is about what is going on at church That's the big social scene where they live
grapfruit replied: Pretty much only to my grandma (Nannie) b/c she likes it. I don't want to have to think of crap to write!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: No, I don't, but I got a nice letter from Lisa (myblueyedbabies - Katy, Matt and Johnny's mom) in a holiday card just yesterday!! Sounds like they are doing well! Where is that girl anyway??? Oh Lisa?
ETA: I don't find them tacky at all. I think it's fun to get an update from people you haven't seen in a while!
MoonMama replied: I think they're a neat idea, but no I don't. That would mean I'd spend less time with all you wonderful people! I mostly email pictures out with updates pretty much monthly, so I just think it would be over kill or just the same stuff I have already told everyone.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Yep thats me...I guess I'm tacky!
I had dh write a letter as we had some pretty major stuff happen in the last 12 months. 2 hospitalizations, a move half way across country, new job, new schools. and quite possibly a finally healthy child. I guess if that is tacky then I will gladly accept my title.
Hi Rae I was thinking of you as I was printing my cards thinking I should have written Holiday's instead of Christmas. oh well...at least I got them out unlike a couple years ago where they all sat addressed and ready to go and I never got to the post office to get the stamps. I am around here. just I have had no time lately so reading every day or two is about my max
grandma replied: Once in awhile I will get a letter w/ Christmas card, not too often. We'll about 5 years ago I decided to write one, it came out pretty good. It was news about my two grown sons and myself. All three of us had a pretty exciting year. My mother got it and was upset because I failed to mention my brother in it, so you can't please everyone and that was my last try! I love that someone wrote about lipo and facelift.......
gr33n3y3z replied: No letters and no cards here but i dont mind reading them if they come
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh gosh please...I'm over that! But thanks for thinking of me! The card was adorable! Glad everyone is doing well...we miss you guys!
