Do your kids say it?
Crystalina wrote: I was just wondering if your kids say "Trick or Treat" when they go to someones door? I noticed last night that hardly any of the kids we saw said anything at all. They just walked up to the house put out there bag and the good ones would at least say "Thank You" but most said nothing at all and the parents did nada! I sounded like a broken record last night saying to my kids, "Don't forget Trick or Treat and Thank You." I know when I was a kid we loved saying "Trick or Treat" but it seems kids just don't do it anymore. When me and my sister were really into it we always did the whole "Trick or Treat smell my feet, give me something good to eat." and when mom wasn't listening we would add, "if you don't I don't care, I'll pull down your underwear."
CantWait replied: They said it everytime and Thank you. I'm like you, I was constantly reminding Anthony to say both.
mckayleesmom replied: Mckaylee says.....trick or treat, Thank you and happy holloween as she is leaving.
Simplebeliever replied: The kids I was with last night were made to say "Trick or treat", "Happy Halloween", and "Thank you" at every house we went to. Yes, Halloween is for kids, but when some one they barely know is giving them candy a little politeness can go a long way.
I must admit though, Abby was one of those silent kids. She doesn't talk very much anyway so I wasn't surprised that she clammed up. She did wave and smile though.
C&K*s Mommie replied: My girls did say "trick or treat" with me along with "thank you", after every stop. And from what I was told, they said it everytime with my mother and DH when they were at a fall festival.
Kaitlin'smom replied: she said it all the time on her own, as well as thank you. She got soooo many complimetns on how cute she was and she would always say thank you. Heck on lady said she was so cute she gave her 6 recees cups!
the kids I had come to the door most said trick or treat but not many thank yous
J-rod replied: id say 3/4 said trick or treet.....but all said thank you.
Crystalina replied: Izabella was quiet her first couple of years also. I think that is totally normal because little kids are so overwhelmed with the costumes and they are still trying to figure out why Mommy and Daddy dressed them funny and they are now going to strangers houses to get candy. I'm talking more of the older kids who understand what's going on. If I were a parent of a child that didn't say thank you (at least) I would be so embarresed. I think it makes the parents look bad. You would think they would WANT their kids to be polite.
TheOaf66 replied: I had to remind tanner the first few times to say thank you but he always said trick or treat. When we were handing out candy, we did not give them any unless they said trick or treat.
mom2my2cuties replied: Andy wouldn't say Trick or Treat, but would always say "thank you" and would tell everyone "Night" As in Good Night.
This was her first time trick or treating. So I am shocked she did so well. it was funny though - we went to a grand total of 3 houses. And after the third one, she decided she had enough candy and we were like 4 houses down from our house and across the street and when she said goodnight, I stopped and was talking to the lady for a minute and I thought Andy was right beside me and as I was wrapping up the conversation I look down and she isn't there. I start looking for her thinking she was walking in the ladies yard, NOPE..You could see her marching down the street in her little bumble bee costume. It was really precious.
ETA - At one house, she did walk up to the guy and who was dressed VERY scary and apparently she thought he was just obnoxious and said "Give Me Candy Now Ok" I was absolutley mortified that she had said that. Because that isn't her way usually. But they both thought it was so hillarious that they filled her pumpkin up so full And were giving her like full bags of candy and stuff.
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: We had to tell Mackenize each time to say Trick or Treat, but she always said Thank You!
Calimama replied: Almost all of our kids said it. Most came out as "Tick teet".. since we got the little guys.
b&bsmom replied: My guys said thank you , but they let the other kids we were with say Trick or Treat, they are on the shy side, I would say as the door opened say Trick or Treat, they wouldn't even say it to my MIL so I didn't think they would anywhere else, but they did say thank you.
coasterqueen replied: Kylie would say Trick or Treat with no problem. It was thank you we had issues with last year so this year I told her if she did not thank the person for what she received she had to give it back. It worked perfectly, she said thank you every time.
Megan was more clueless than I thought she would be and so she would walk up there and just stare at the people in fear like "I have no clue why my mom dressed me up or why you keep giving me candy". So I would say trick or treat for her and thank you.
