Doc's office just called me
My2Beauties wrote: I scheduled my surgery for Feb 3rd...... I've never had surgery in my life. It hasn't fully sunk in yet, I'm sure the week before I'm going to be an absolute nervous wreck! I have to be there at 6am...can't eat or drink after midnight....ick I'm not looking forward to this. They called me and wanted to know if I wanted to have it done on Friday.... I was like wow, 2 days from now...um no thanks, I need at least a month to prepare!
Kaitlin'smom replied: I would have gone for friday, less time to stress over it.
you will be fine.
mckayleesmom replied: You will be fine...It really wasn't that bad at all.
cameragirl21 replied: I know it's scary but you will be fine. I had surgery a couple years go for my deviated septum due to my asthma and I was so freaked out, especially about the anesthesia...I was afraid of the idea of someone knocking me out, being totally helpless and afraid I wouldn't wake up or that I'd be completely freaked out when I woke up, not knowing where I was, etc. My friend's younger sister, Maria, had full blown open rhinoplasty one year prior and she actually helped me a lot because she had explained to me how she went under...the nurse said, "So Maria...." and that was the last thing she remembered till she woke up, at which point she didn't realize the surgery had even taken place yet. So believe it or not, I actually practiced, imagined the nurse saying, "So Jennifer...." and practiced konking out, I know it sounds bizarre but it helped so much. I was told I'd go under twilight sleep, not general which is what really scared me as I have heard of weird things happening to people under general but the day of the surgery, literally, as I was being prepped for the party, the anesthesiologist turns to the surgeon and tells him he wants to put me under general, apparently they'd been putting everyone under general that day for some reason. I wasn't thrilled but agreed to it, whereas if I'd not prepared myself I'd have totally freaked out and refused the surgery. When I woke up, I didn't realize any time had passed, I heard the doc talking to me and it took me a split second to realize that the surgery was over...I didn't remember going under at all, there was no nurse saying, "so jennifer", I just remember being surrounded by the nurses and anesthesiologist, who was a Christian Arab so we were talking about the middle east and whatnot and that was all I remembered and then i woke up, no memory at all of how they put me under...I don't even remember them doing it at all...they just put something to relax me in the IV and that's all I remember...i was fully conscious at the time so Idk how I don't remember it. The recovery was a bit rough but not painful, just frustrating because I couldn't breathe thru my nose and couldn't sleep well as a result. If you have any questions or want to talk about it, feel free to pm me, I promise you though, it's not a big deal at all.
My2Beauties replied: I can't though they said I'd be off a week to 10 days and we print W2's in January, I have no back-up my boss will be so involved with the W2 process that he would be here 80 hours trying to cover me. I'd rather just go out when it's less hectic here.
Kaitlin'smom replied: really they said that long? my DH was back to work in less time about 6 days but 2 of those days were weekend, and his was considered emergency, same with a friend he had his out and was back to work about the next monday, so I think it was 4-5 days.
but I understand the work thing. really you will be fine and probably ready to go back to work sooner than they say
My2Beauties replied: Well they said 5-10 days I gues depending on my pain tolerance level - which I'll be sure to say is really low LOL I'd love to have two weeks off work 100% paid, I'd get so much stuff done. My momsaid she felt better in about 4 days.
mckayleesmom replied: I was good after about 2 days...I had the regular surgery though, not the liproscopy one. It just felt like I had a bruised rib.
MommyToAshley replied: I can understand being nervous, but just think how much better you will feel after it is done.
DillsMommy replied: I'm sure everything will be just fine. Try not to stress too much.
gr33n3y3z replied: Sorry LeaAnn I must have missed what was wrong what are you getting surgery on? You will be fine I just had my 5th one on my stomach again a week and a half ago
punkeemunkee'smom replied: It will be OK! Lots of prayers for you to get through it peacefully!
