Doctor's appointment

Hillbilly Housewife wrote: Ok, so I've got my first doctor's appointment for this pregnancy on May 7th. WHAT do I tell the guy? lol!!

I so totally forgot about everything in the first trimester. According to our *calculations*, the baby is due on December 25th, so on the 7th, I will be 6w6d. I know we won't be able to hear the heartbeat, and we won't get an ultrasound. What does the doctor do? Last pregnancy the doctor were so busy I didn't get in to see him until I was 13 weeks along! (Although they always told me that if I had any questions, I could call, or if I felt anything was wrong, I could go to their emergency clinic.)

I konw that this time around, I will be watching my weight, watching what I eat, because I gained 78 pounds last time around. (I still have (well...had...) 40 pounds to lose from Zach) I'm not plannign on gaining any more than 20 pounds. According to the pregnancy weight charts, that's fine anyways, since my weight category I'm supposed to gain 25, but since I'm overweight, only 15 to 20.

I just don't know what to expect. I've felt nautious so far, but I haven,t actually gotten sick. I haven't told my boss either, or anyone at my work. WEll, that's not true, I told 2 people that I used to work with on the 1st floor. I work on the 6th.

I've been taking my pre-natal vitamins, and eating helthy, I just don't know what to expect!!!!!!!!

momofajcl replied: I wonder if they will treat you as a high-risk pregnancy because you are pregnant again less than one year since you had your last?!?!? Anyway...I'd talk to him about your weight gain concerns. I think it is going to be too early for him to listen for a heartbeat...maybe he will do an u/s? I don't know...lol! Be sure to put your appt. on the calendar thumb.gif

ediep replied: I think if I remember correctly, the first ob appointment was just like a regular gyn visit. I think he did a pap and he answered any questions and then he set up an appointment for a sonogram the following week.
Good Luck!!

Kaitlin'smom replied: hehe rolling_smile.gif dont forget they will do a PG test! rolling_smile.gif

as for what else to expect I cant help you, I was already pretty far along by the time I found out and had my first appointment

supermom replied: Nods - my first visit, they did a pap and an internal ultrasound (with an "internal" wand) and I got to see pics of the baby first thing! It was amazing because it was a 3D one, and was really clear - but I was a bit farther along than you are now, I don't know if he would have done one that soon or not, because we were unsure of the dates of my LMP or anything - lol - but so far, we've guessed pretty close and after everything he only adjusted my duedate by one day!

MommyToAshley replied: The dreaded pap ---uggghh! That's all I remember. hehe. smile.gif

Congrats again... I am sooo excited for you! You are making me wanna be PG again. LOL Now, I can blame YOU!

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
lol! Well.... you can tell TLCDad that it's all my fault! rofl rolling_smile.gif

CantWait replied: ick yes the dreaded pap and breast exam. Remember when your last monthly was, they'll wanna know that to calculate your true dd. And don't forget cause they'll ask at EVERY visit LOL. You'll also get asked your whole medical history, and everything about your last pregnancy and delivery. They'll take your weight, and height, and blood pressure and listen to your heart. You'll be there at least half an hour or 20 minutes. They might try and get a heartbeat, but most don't. Mine did but told me not to be concerned cause it was still to early. Good Luck!

OklahomaSooners replied: who else thinks that checking WEIGHT should be deemed illegal?? tongue.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied:

the only thing worse is when your not pg and a little overweight and get lectured from someone who is twice your size! needless to say I told her off and never went back to that doc's office! mad.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
thumb.gif thumb.gif I second that! If men were the ones who got PG, do you think they would weigh themselves? Heck No!

supermom replied:
Me, me, me!! LOL - I am overweight, and I know it - I don't need a lecture from a nurse to tell me that it's not healthy -
