Does anyone else tell your kids they can pick - And then try to talk them out of it?

luvmykids wrote: Whatever, from what to wear that day or where to go or whatever. I caught myself this morning, I told the kids since we're going to town they could pick somewhere for lunch, anywhere. They picked McDonalds (of course) and now I'm trying to talk them out of it. I realized I do it more than I thought laugh.gif

grapfruit replied: I'd try and talk them out of McDonalds too!!! LoL!

boyohboyohboy replied:
this is about the only subject that we do try to talk them out of it....this same conversation..

MommyToAshley replied: Guilty wavey.gif blush.gif

But if I catch myself doing it, then I stop myself. Sometimes I will say she can choose from A, B, or C... then she still gets to choose but it's from something I like as well. blush.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yes. blush.gif

I'm such a control freak.

lisar replied: Oh I do the same thing and its normally when Lexi picks Mcdonalds or Pizza.

Boo&BugsMom replied: Guilty as charged. blush.gif I do that to Troy too. blush.gif

lovemy2 replied: Oh yeah - but I do try to give her only choices I know I won't have to talk her out of emlaugh.gif

holley79 replied: We use to do that with Brandon. If it had been up to him we would have eaten at CiCi's everytime we gave him the option for lunch.

Calimama replied: She's not old enough yet, DH does it to ME. Drives me nuts. dry.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: No. We give them choice to pick from. We don't give them a choice we aren't willing have them pick.

CantWait replied: ALWAYS!!!!!!!! blush.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh yes, but I see other parents do this all the time too. It's hard to give up the control, but I've learned that stepping back usually gives me less tantrums from my kid...So in other words, when I let him choose and make him feel good for his decision, he is better throughout the day. Total win win I suppose! thumb.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: rolling_smile.gif I am with Dee Dee I use A B or C that way I am happy too! rolling_smile.gif blush.gif On days when I don't then Yes I am always saying BUT this is funner/better/ blahblah.gif rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif

Brias3 replied: I do that all the time, without really realizing most of the time! The worst incidents lately are letting Aliyah pick out her clothing. The ever-ongoing clothes battle with this girl is gonna drive me batty! She has a closetful of beautiful clothes and refuses to wear all but about two pairs of shorts and tops. dry.gif

DillsMommy replied: Glad to see I'm not the only one who does this....

luvbug00 replied: I try not to. emlaugh.gif
