Does anyone else think it is ridiculous...

MommyToAshley wrote: all the ties, tape, staples that manufacturers use to secure a toy to the box. It takes an hour just to open a toy. The little tie things that are twisted so tight in little knots are the worst!

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Lol yes it's terrible. I don't know why they think they need to make it so hard to open! dry.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif Oh Yeah!!!! I HATE THAT!! My brother informed me that they have to do that b/c of shipping purposes, etc. They don't want to be liable for broken or missing parts to the toys. rolleyes.gif BUT still. Why make it so darn difficult! tongue.gif

mammag replied: You know, for some reason I don't remember there being that much when we were young. Of course, I probably just handed them over to mom & dad and didn't think about it. tongue.gif

My dh just pulls out the wire cutters and goes at it. smile.gif

amynicole21 replied: Yes! They drive me bonkers wacko.gif Especially Little People toys for some reason... they have 100 ties that are all taped with super-duper strength, unbreakable tape. ACK!

3boys4me replied: I hate those little twisty things. It took me forever to open the boys GI Joes!!

maestra replied: Dh thinks they do that to keep people from stealing the toys. He says that if they think it's too much work to get it out, they won't want it. rolling_smile.gif

ediep replied: YES!!!! It takes forever to take a new toy out, and those twisty things are so hard to untie!! It is rediculous

elvisfan replied: YES! Christmas day my fingers were KILLING me!!user posted image

Boys r us replied: oH YES!!!! By the time I've actually gotten the toy released from it's ties, twists, tape and barbwire(ha) my kids have nearly had a coronary from all of the waiting!
The funny thing is, it doesn't even matter how cheap the toy is, it could be a little 10 toy and they have it secured like it's worth $100 bucks!

Kirstenmumof3 replied: mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif OMG I know what you mean! That's just wrong to have that many ties on things! It's INSANE! We spent more time getting the presents out of the box than opening presents!

mummy2girls replied: I think they do that just to annoy us parents... But yes it is very frustrating!!!!!!!!!

redchief replied: Thank the dishonest people who have stolen over the years for the elaborate hardware we see today.

Kila replied: I learned that the first time this Christmas! I just don't have the patience. I know someone who has a 4 y/o and before she wrapped her sons' presents, she took all of the staples and ties from the packages and just put the loose toys back in the boxes. I thought that was a great idea because that way her son can just rip open the boxes and get at the toys without having to wait for Mom and Dad to perform minor surgery.

mom89 replied: Oh yes I hate that! But I saw the explantation for it below...

paradisemommy replied:
that's actually GREAT advice..i'll have to remember that next year cause i HATE all those stupid ties. i usually end up getting a blister or at least raw fingers... mad.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: Oh I really do hate all of that stuff. DH took his wire cutters to all of it this year. That was quick and painless.

I know what you mean about the Little People stuff Amy. Took me at least 10 minutes to get all of that stuff apart.

Apparently I can't think of anything to type, but stuff this morning. rolling_smile.gif

A&A'smommy replied: OH YES it is SOOO annoying!!! Alyssa gets bored waiting on us to open the thing and by time we do she has found something else... Whats the point!!!! dry.gif

bucky replied: hahah.. glad to hear I'm not the only one that was driven crazy by those things on Christmas!! Best idea I've heard yet is to get rid of them before wrapping (making mental note for birthdays and christmas).

WillDoDa replied: mad.gif wacko.gif That really drove me NUTS on Christmas. I did however make a mental note to remove all ties BEFORE wrapping for "future" birthdays and Christmas'. It was our first. I just hope I remember!! tongue.gif

kaitmanda replied: Yes! I totally agree.. it took me literally a half hour to open one of my dds presents.. and it ended up being this tiny toy! lol wacko.gif

deimer replied: Oh, we were sooo prepared this Christmas. Armed ourselves with scissors and wire cutters before dd even got out of bed Christmas morning. Two things that are a Mom's best friend!!

DansMom replied: The frustration is sometimes overwhelming! And have you ever cut yourself on the molded plastic coatings?---and that stuff doesn't biodegrade either.

AndriNPetersdada replied: I do. My kids are too young to notice they just sit there and play with the box, but my brothers and sisters really hate waiting for one of us to unclip all the little ties so they can have their toy. This year we went through and set up all toys that needed set up and took everything out of its packaging to wrap - took a while longer to wrap but it was worth it on christmas.

ctymom replied: OMG! Isn't it outrageous?! blink.gif Erica got 3 sets of those Little People toys and I swear every single thing in those were twist-tied at least 3 times AND taped!! I couldnt believe it!

booey2 replied: Someone else mentioned that they remove all of those things before wrapping and that is what we do. Even for birthday partys and stuff - if I give a gift like that I undo them all and if batteries are required I take out the ones that are in there and put in new ones so that it will last. Then I wrap up the present.

Kaitlin'smom replied: uh ya espically for a 2 year old to have to waited until you break the toy out... rolling_smile.gif can be very frustrating....and hay where can I get some of that tape wacko.gif
