Does pregnancy change your Bones???

jen wrote: I have been told by two EVIL people now that my bones (HIPS) will never go back to normal and NONE Of my jeans will EVER fit me again bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif That isn't true is it??? Why would they say that to me??? Do they think I need to hear that??? I don't understand. I know your hips and pelvis separate and widen and mine have but don't they go back the way they were??? OH well, some people just have NO COMPASSION! I would never have said some of the things to my pregnant friends as some people/relatives have said to me! bawling.gif

jem0622 replied: Your bones do relax more when you are pregnant. Let me do some digging because I can't remember if it's permanent.

Kaitlin'smom replied: oh hon, I would not worry about it I know quite a few women who fit into there clothes even after 3 kids! You look great and I bet it wont be long before you are wearing your old clothes again.

coasterqueen replied: I've heard that. I've heard it's because your hips spread to get ready for delivery. I felt like I noticed it a bit, but didn't have to give a vaginal delivery so I don't know if it's really true or not. Sorry sad.gif grouphug.gif

But, yes, I had a zillion people tell me that while pg.

EDITING to say that I know MANY MANY women who went right back in to their same size clothes, though, so it must not be true, or not true for everyone. You'll be fine wink.gif

amynicole21 replied: Sorry to say that I have noticed a big difference. sad.gif I'm the same weight that I was before I was preggo, but I'm at least 2 sizes larger in the jeans dept. It just sort of distributes differently blink.gif I have had friends that went home from the hospital in their pre-preg jeans, though! I think it just depends on the person. You are so fit and trim though, that I bet you won't have the same problem smile.gif

jen replied: Thanks! wub.gif Even if I don't fit back into my old jeans, I am getting Maddy out of this so I don't care! cool.gif

I just wanted to know if there was truth in it!!! KWIM!?

coasterqueen replied:
LOL! You are so funny. You are ready aren't you? wink.gif

jen replied:
laugh.gif OMG I have never been so ready for something in my life!!!!!! I'm trying to be patient and cool cool.gif about it! LOL!

juliajaj replied: My hips definitely spread during my 1st pregnancy. I lost my pregnancy weight (35-40 lbs) within a year, but some of my clothes were still a little snug in the hip area. I nursed Olivia for the until she was 1 (August), and was pregnant again in October. I did a little research & found out that if you nurse, you body still thinks it's pregnant so the uterus remains a little larger than it normally is & this, in addition to how everything shifts around during pregnancy, causes the hips to remain slightly expanded. I'm not sure if it's 100% true, but it made sense due to the hormonal changes. Plus, I never got my period back until after I stopped nursing Olivia. My doctor said this is normal & is also one of the reasons why everything didn't settle back into their normal shape. I have an OB/GYN appointment on Thursday, so I'll ask for clarification on this.

5littleladies replied: I fit into my old jeans just a couple weeks after giving birth (even with my 3rd child) and now I wear an even smaller size. It really depends on your body type. You look great in your pictures-I would imagine you won't have any problems. wink.gif

Elle replied:
I'm one of those women who still fit in their clothes after 3 kids! Don't worry, things get normal in your body after some months! thumb.gif

beckamouse replied: emlaugh.gif i'm going to sound so stuck up saying this. I love you all so dont get annoyed.

i come from a line of women who have managed to retain their figure after pregnancy and who can eat what they want so i am hoping that works in my favor

*looks at what appears to be a beer belly but is just three months (3!!!!!) pregnancy* yikes.

I have always been a tiny girl. 5'9" tall and before pregnancy my weight was 110 its now 125 so yay) i could be vice president of the Itty Bitty T**** Club so i'm hoping that i atleast keep the nice set of. . .well...that i got going for me because i hate looking like an anorexic twelve year old guy with long black hair. I think i'm going to be one of those rare women who wanna keep atleast some of my pregnancy weight.

and about the bones thing, the only thing i've noticed in my pregnancy is i walk a lot differently. Its that whole relaxin hormone going into my joints and i'm more aware of my stomach now that there's someone inside it so i'm careful of how i sit.

its all very weird...

and is it normal this early on for it to be difficult to bend down to pick stuff up or is that just because i'm aware of my tummy more?

and who else hates hearing those insensitive comments that come from people that mean well?

my favorite one so far comes from my best friends little 13 year old sister who looked at me and went "whoa becka, you've gotten really fat!" i know i just said i'm excited about the extra 15 pounds i've put on in the past month but yikes. not what i wanna hear exactly

Maddie&EthansMom replied: It's really not as bad as you think. wink.gif It took some time after I had Maddie to get back into my old clothes (a few weeks). My shirts didn't fit b/c I had bigger bb's (fair trade for me) emlaugh.gif And I went up a size in my jeans b/c I didn't work on taking the extra weight off. With Ethan I was back in my old clothes in a week. It doesn't look like you have gained any weight (other than Maddy) so you shouldn't have problems at all. thumb.gif Just remember that it still takes time to adjust. You may be back in your old clothes within a day...or it might take a couple of weeks. Give yourself some time and try not to get depressed. biggrin.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I was actually back to pre-pg clothes a few weeks after Jade was born. My hips are wide to begin with so if there was a difference I have no idea. You look great Jen and like you said before I think having Maddy is so worth it.

A&A'smommy replied: I bet your wearing your old clothes VERY soon after maddie is born your SOOO tiny! smash.gif smash.gif smash.gif whoever said that! mad.gif

mummy2girls replied: I dont know if it permanent but i fit into old jeans after i had Jordan! With Jenna im still trying.LOL
