EVERYONE PLEASE READ!!!

Maddie&EthansMom wrote: Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone book.

If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming.

Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. My number is unlisted so it did not come up when I tested it, but everyone needs to do this!!

In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: google
(http://www.google.com /) Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e.555-555-1212) and hit enter. If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your
private information, simply click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours.

Check your own number and although this may not apply to you if you have an
unlisted number or cell phone as primary contact, but you may know someone
who needs to know this.

lisar replied: None of my numbers showed up. And my home # is not unlisted and it didnt show up. I will test it again in a few weeks just to make sure though.

Thanks for the info.

moped replied: Interesting - nothing comes up for mine......

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I just tested my parents' number and their address came up with a link for a map to their house. I clicked on the link and the directions popped up with a map showing exactly where they live ohmy.gif

Danalana replied: My mother's came up! I requested to have her removed...

PrairieMom replied: We are on there too, although they have our house sitting in the middle of an intersection. huh.gif Its close enough tho.

Calimama replied: I removed us a couple months ago. Scary! wacko.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: ewww that's sad.

Mine's unlisted.

Kaitlin'smom replied: ohmy.gif mine was there. I asked to be removed.

Insanemomof3 replied: LOL No wonder someone called last sunday for times that church starts. I put in my number and it came up with a church. They must have changed their number at some point and we got the old one. LOL

My2Beauties replied: Yeah they used to not even have the feature to ask it to be removed. I removed my #, whitepages.com does the same thing you guys. I asked to have my number be private, the guy said that he did it, low and behold I go check and he hadn't. I just got off the phone with my phone company and gave them an ear full, I did this when all that stuff with Staci happened. growl.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: Nothing came up for us, but we are on a no-call list, so maybe that is why. I did however come up under daycare lists, but those are sites I registered with. I have since asked to be removed from them since I no longer do daycare.

BabyOwen427 replied: I didn't realize other's didn't know about this. I've used this 'feature' to find long lost highschool and college buddies. So, I'm glad it worked for me. I typed in the name of the person and if they are listed their phone number comes up.

gr33n3y3z replied: I checked my mother inlaws this is very scary

Hacking and more... Vizualizare subiect - Credit - Cards ... Luati ...Phone: ********** E-mail Payment type: Visa Card Number:0***00*0000**0000 Card Verification Value: *** Name on Card: ** **** Company: ...

Now mind you the card is a dead visa but the info was still there bc it was a stolen credit card on the net and reported but hackers stole her number

MommyToAshley replied: White pages has done the same thing for a long time:
http://www.whitepages.com/
Then just click on reverse lookup. It gives the name and address, but no map like Google.

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Isn't that the purpose for an online phone book? laugh.gif To look up someones name and number and address?

luvbug00 replied: I just took ours off. THANK YOU!

Our Lil' Family replied: Just tested mine, it pulled up the address but thankfully google (along with mapquest) still doesn't recognize our street...ours is N...drive, it pulls up N...street. Subdivision is 7 years old and it still doesn't recognize it, this is the one time I'm glad!

luvmykids replied: I removed ours...mainly because our kids are well known (small town LOL) and I don't want uninvited people showing up at our house...I'm suprised at how many people do that rolleyes.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: ohmy.gif OMG why would Google do something like that! That's awful! I'm definately going to check it out!

Anthony275 replied: mine was there a long time ago like back in the winter and i took it off. they gotta get rid of these things, google earth has to go. it may be cool but it's just another terrorist attack waiting to happen

MoonMama replied: Why the heck would they do that! That is really scary. ohmy.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Mine's attached to someone named Sue P____. The address isn't anywhere near where I live. But I've gotten phone calls for Sue since we moved. We had to change our number.

MomToJade&Jordan replied: My Mom was on there so I had it removed. Thanks Aimee.

AlexsPajamaMama replied: Oh wow that is quite scary...in the world we live in today posting that info does more harm than good I think. There are too many "weirdos" out there.
