TANNER'S MOM wrote: I got a call yesterday from a friend Tanner goes to school with parents. They have a HORSE that needs rescued. They had originally rescued it but haven't been able to spend the time he needs with him. He is sweet and but starting to founder.
I went to look at him and fell in love. I took Tanner to see him this morning..lol And he fall in love too.
Now he is not typically what we have on our farm.. I am not sure what I am gonna do with him but I couldnt resist and you will see why.
TANNER'S MOM replied: Tanner
TANNER'S MOM replied: Okay excuse the no make or hair.. the horses dont' care at the barn. I just wanted to show you how little he truly is.. I am 5;4
Crystalina replied: I have 3 of these. Well 2 now. One flipped her stomach and you know how that ends. But I have her son (Jasper) and another male (Merle). They are adorable and are like huge dogs. Jasper will actually try to kick a basketball.
There are two kinds. The Shetland pony and the miniature horse. Mine are miniature horses although they don't know they are miniature. We saddle Merle up once in awhile for the kids but not very often. DH calls them hayburners. He bought me a buggy a couple of years ago because they are better at pulling then carrying. I wouldn't put a big child on them although one man told me that a grown man could ride but I personally wouldn't do that.
edited because they are like huge dogs they don't like huge dogs. One missing word changes the whole sentence.
TANNER'S MOM replied: yeah I love the carts.. I would love to have one. I don't know if he is broke to work or not but we shall see. He wil be a hay burner.. to be honest Brittany is the smallest in weight child that I have at 16 and she may have to help train him.. I got on his back and let Tanner lead me around and he did okay. I hate the thought of putting my kids on something I can't ride. I figure he is good for a few pounds but not for a long time. He is sweet when we left he came to see us go.. and looked at us wait what about me.
but I have seven big horses and I worry about how he will do in the pasture.. he may have to have his own special pen ...
Crystalina replied: I have my two in with a bigger horse but it's only one horse. Cocao. She acts like she has arthritis (when we got her a few years ago she was pumped with Bute on a daily basis) but when I put Merle and Jasper in with her she tried kicking the crap out of them. They were both studs at the time. So we gelded them and they all live together very happily now.
I would think maybe if you only have the one small one that he would need to be watched for awhile if you stick them together. Merle and Jasper are able to team up on Cocao.
sparkys2boys replied: Awwwww.. adorable!!! I love horses so much, I can see why you kept him!!

TANNER'S MOM replied: It's a hee...and we are going to name him either Shaggy or fro.. all cause of his hair..
He is a stud horse and still has the ability to make little horses.
Kaitlin'smom replied: awwweee Kaitlin has a miniture horse and a pony. Her horse Abby is a sweetie, unless chainsaws are going then she gets a bit restless. What a sweetie.

A&A'smommy replied: He is SOOOOO cute!!! He looks kinda like a pony what kind of horse is he?
TANNER'S MOM replied: He is a Shetland..
And his feet are too long.. My Dh shoes horses and he will get him all set up. Brittany seen him and says he will be her new project.. who knows.
luvmykids replied: I hate that, I always turn around for one more scratch and kiss
He is awfully cute and sweet, I would have kept him too. Does he have a name yet?
Celestrina replied: OMG how cute! I went to a horse show last summer and in the leadline (the kids are very young and must be lead by an adult) classes there were a couple kids on minature horses. This was the first time I had actually seen anyone ride a minature horse (shetlands are strictly ponies, not minature horses).
