Everyone ready for Thanksgiving?
mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: No one is really talking about it here, so I thought I would mention it! Anyone ready? I'm NOT. How may guests are you cookin' for? I'm only having 6 adults and four children, not too hard. I did a little shopping this morning, just non-perishables and I ordered my turkey last week. I'm getting there..........
TheOaf66 replied: totally, want the day off for both of us +
THE PACKERS PLAY AT 11:30 AM
Calimama replied: Nada, no one, zip! We're going to someone else's house, and I'm thrilled not to have to worry about anything other than bringing dessert!
lisar replied: I'm not ready thats for sure. And the weekend after is Lexi;s birthday party and I am working on that also. But for thanksgiving we are supposed to be going to my sisters house.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: That's nice of you, giving her the day off! DH helps me cook, but he will most likely just do the turkey and I'll do the rest. And luckily for me my guy doesn't watch football....
luvmykids replied: Ugh, no I don't even know what the plan is, I can't nail DH down. His grandma is out of town, which I thought meant a nice quiet day, but now the rest of his family is calling and DH gets bugged when they all come but he also gets bugged if I try to get out of it
I have my turkey though, and my cranberries. That's about it
Kaitlin'smom replied: yes and no
we usually have a pretty big thanksgiving at our house however this year we will be small both sisters are going to there IL's my mom is to be realised from the hospital that day, my IL's are working that day and grandma is still in the hospital. So we are down to 4 people 3 adults and Kaitlin. So instad of cooking I ordered a pre-cooked meal from Kroger that is supposed to feed 8 Grandpa will come over to eat then we will go see grandma, or at least take turns with her cause it sounds like she might still be in the hospital
TheOaf66 replied: oh we don't do thanksgiving at our house, we're at the inlaws and MIL cooks everything since she loves to cook but also gets stressed out so it is funny. But it is a day when Jennie and I don't have to work
lovemy2 replied: Don't have to do much - just make the green bean casserole and put my game face on - and not for the football games - going to my brother and SIL's house
3xsthefun replied: Nope, not ready at all. We don't even have any plans yet. I'm thinking about just doing a small dinner here at home.
Homegirl replied: I'm ready and raring to go! I was able to take a few days off from my medical transcription job and have my sister coming to visit w/ us. I'm making the turkey, and doing Stove Top for stuffing, buying a premade Sweet Potato casserole from Walmart, brown and serve rolls, green beans w/bacon, and my sister is making cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes. I love eating mashed potatoes but hate making them! We are buying a pumpkin pie and whipped cream and having cranbery juice cocktail and Coke or Pepsi. I know it's not all "homemade" exactly but time w/ family is more important. Plus, since I have Thur-Sun off work, I really want to relax and spend time w/ everyone and not be tied to the kitchen. Hubby doesn't mind the way I cook so it's mostly dinner from a box but am ready!!! How about everyone else?

gr33n3y3z replied: not looking forward to it at all
holley79 replied: I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. UGG
stella6979 replied: I love Thanksgiving and can't wait til it's here. I'm making dinner for 7 this year and I'm so excited. I love to cook!! And I don't think there's anything better than sitting around eating delicious food, watching football and enjoying a few drinks with the people you love.
coasterqueen replied: I'm really not looking forward to it this year. We ALWAYS spend Thanksgiving with my family and this year we will be in Georgia with my SIL. We are actually going over to her DH's family's house so we'll know NO ONE With our friend being terminally ill I'd rather spend Thanksgiving at home (she's staying with my parents) so I'm sad we won 't get to spend the last Thanksgiving she'll have with her.
My2Beauties replied: We are going over to DH's aunt and uncles house first on his dad's side, then we'll go to my grandma and grandpa's house for a little bit, then we'll end up at DH's other aunt and uncles house on his mom's side. I'd rather have it at our house like we did last year, but my dad was in town to help me cook T-giving dinner last year, without him, I'd burn the house down!
MoonMama replied: The only thing I need to do is make a cake or pie. We are going to my parents so other then making a cake or pie the day before, yep.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Karen and Di. So sorry ladies.
Lisa, why aren't you looking forward to it? I'm like Troy said, I LOVE to cook, but I'm a complete stress case about it. It's only 6 adults and I've already pulled all my recipes, know what to make, etc., but I'm just a freak when it comes to entertaining....Freak as in Martha Stewart freak. I get it from my mom, who will fortunately be here from CA with my dad so I'll have her freaking with me. Bit I bought some pomegranite juice today and I'm going to grab a bottle of vodka which will help calm the nerves...haha! Pom martinis...So tasty!
Anthony275 replied: 15 people here, my mom will probably start cooking at like 8am. she does 80% of it. my estranged aunt & uncle w/ their kid are coming here, im mad at that, ill just be locked in the room with my other cousin for the day to keep my distance away from the repetitive questions they ask
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I have no idea what we are doing. I will be at my parent's house, but I am not allowing my mom to cook this year. My grandmother isn't going to be with us much longer. They suspect she will pass before Thanksgiving. That leaves the funeral to plan, etc.
My mother loves family, she loves to cook and have home cooked meals. I can't see making her go out to eat in the midst of all of this. She needs the memories. My brothers and I are great cooks and I think we can all pull together and do something wonderful for that day. Whether it's on Thanksgiving, before, or after. I suspect we will have plenty of family around to feed as well. That's okay, it will be like old times when we had Thanksgiving dinner at our house growing up.
Right now all I can think about is getting down there in the morning. We are pretty much taking it day by day. Thursday seems so far off.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I'm sorry Aimee.
HuskerMom replied: We don't have it at our house so I'm ready since I don't have to cook!
amymom replied: I am ready! Thanksgiving dinner for Lee's family is this Saturday. We usually have about 35 but 7 just said they can't make it, and someone is bringing a few people. I asked a few others today, so who knows how many we will have. But Lee will go and pick up my two turkeys tomorrow, and I made pumpkin bread this past weekend. (4 batches about 15 loafs.) I made the apple sauce this past weekend, and Mary Beth and I just made the cranberry sauce. We used 3 lbs of cranberries a few oranges and loads of sugar.
Anyway tomorrow is pumpkin pie making time. I should go now. lol!
Thanksgiving day will be very quiet. Then off to my families homes on Friday.
gr33n3y3z replied: prolly 14 or less ppl. worth of not looking forward to it LOL I'm still feeling under the weather prolly next week I will be ok but when your not feeling good people are the last thing you want to deal with
