Exercise
coasterqueen wrote: Does anyone know how long you have to exercise for it to "count"? DH says that you have to keep your heart rate "up" for at least 30 minutes for it to do any good. Is that true? I have been doing treadmill every other night and Tae Bo the other nights. I can only last on a treadmill for 20 to 25 minutes without completely passing out, lol, and I believe my Tae Bo tape is only 25 minutes with stretching and cool down.
kimberley replied: well it all "counts" to getting you healthier, but if you really want fast results as far as weight loss and toning is concerned, i also heard 30 minutes. i have the 1 hr tae bo tape and used to skip the wind down and do crunches or running for as long as i could stand it. i think it is healthier to build up to that though. if you can only stand 25 minutes on the treadmill then slowly increase it by 5 minutes until that is easy for you.
ediep replied: yup, ITA with Kimberley...It takes 20-30 minutes to burn fat, but don't worry you are still burning calories. Work up to 30 minutes.
BTW Great Job!!!
coasterqueen replied: Okay that is not what I wanted to hear! I am the laziest person anyone will ever meet so 25 minutes seems like enough to me
No just kidding. Thanks for the assurance. I will definately try to work up to 30 minutes SOMEDAY It's so darn hard trying to find a full 30 minutes with a baby around. Course I don't have to tell you both that, lol.
jen replied: I have heard 30 minutes too. I have also heard that stretching before and after helps tremendously. But anything counts no matter how long! That is GREAT!!! WTG KAREN!!
A&A'smommy replied: yeah what everone else said except i have to add that i use to take ballet (which is pretty strenous but sooo wonderful ) and my instructor trained us in working out so just to let you know that everyone else is right, but what you are doing should be helping especially since your doing tae bo and that dude knows what he talking about so it may not be taking the full effect but it is helping! i hope what i said made sense and helped some although i believe you already knew this oh well dont mind me
Guest_natjasem replied: If you really want maximum results: a minimum of 30 minutes cardio and at least 15 minutes of strength training. You don't like me, do you?
coasterqueen replied: LOL. I just DESPISE exercise, lol. Not you
jem0622 replied: Actually, I just read that they feel an hour of cardio or strength training at least 4 times a week is preferred. That 30 minutes is just not enough.
Sorry to be the bearer of stressful/depressing news, but it's true. The idea of cardio plus strength training would be a good blend.

MommyToAshley replied: uggghhh, I have to agree here... I despise excercise. I was disappointed to hear that a 15 minute work-out wouldn't be enough.
coasterqueen replied: LOL! And now it seems we need an hour! I gotta find something I LOVE if I'm gonna do it for an hour, lol.
jen replied: Karen the idea of finding something you LOVE to do is the easiest way. I hate going to the gym, I went with a friend of mine for support and hated being inside. My best advice for anyone who hates gyms, tapes and programs is to find something they like to do like roller blading, cycling, hiking, dancing, tennis, golf etc or in my case horseback riding ( it isn't like I just sit there I do jumping and dressage and a lot of leg work). When you like/love to do it, it doesn't seem like work it is a get-away! Best of LUCK!
* I can't wait to get back on one of my horses! LOL! I hope maddy likes riding too!
