Extreme Makeover Home Edition - filming here!
luvmykids wrote: Well, not here here, but in Albuquerque about 30 miles from here I don't know when it airs yet. Apparantly they like people to come hang out and watch b/c on the news they were giving directions and telling people where they could park, etc.
Kaitlin'smom replied: cool, my sitter is applying for it.
lovemy2 replied: Oh that would be fun - I love that show and I would love to slap hands with Ty
luvmykids replied: I called one of my friends and said "My boyfriends in town"
Kaitlin'smom replied: hay if you can get ther try and get a pic of him for us.....maybe even a hug.
lisar replied: Yea... Do that. he is so darn cute.
Calimama replied: Yummy!!!
Kentuckychick replied: I was supposed to get to meet Ty but he canceled his book signing here TWICE so I'm a little bitter I own the book and I STILL don't have it signed.
But I love the show. The amount of good they do is wonderful (though I sometimes question whether or not they go over the top with their designs and the family's ability to afford the makeover).
The one last week where the little girl had to be kept in an environment that's 62 degrees and couldn't feel pain broke my heart. I can't imagine being a parent in that situation and never being able to stop worrying. They did a lot of wonderful things for them and I cried like a baby half the show!
It reminded me of that Grey's Anatomy episode with the little girl that thought she was a superhero because she could tolerate extreme amounts of pain and ended up being seriously injured because of it... We all wish we couldn't feel pain but pain is there for a reason.
It's amazing a show can be so heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I forgot to DVR the last one, what was the reason for the 62? where did they send them that they could keep that for her?
MommyToAshley replied: Better yet, get a pic of him huggin' you.
How cool, are you going to watch it at the actual build site?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: That is so awesome!!!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: What a coincidence, the one that just aired last Sunday was here where I live! It's actually on one of the sites DH had a deal on once. And the guy that gave them the house, used to work with DH (with a different builder now).
You should go and rally in the background!!!
Kentuckychick replied: She has a rare condition (don't know the name of it) where she has an extremely high threshold for pain and her body cannot regulate it's own temperature. She has to be at 62 degrees because anything higher or colder causes her body temperature to rise or drop and once it begins to do so it's extremely difficult to stop it. The mom said there was at some points she was taking her temperature every 5/10 minutes. She wore cold vests to keep her organs cool and they put alarms in the new home that would alert them if the temp got above 62 degrees. The poor girl slept with a teddy bear that they put in the freezer each day. I can't imagine how scary it would be!
The sent them to Colorado for their vacation because the average temps there were 59 degrees (I don't remember them showing the family outside though).
luvmykids replied: I just saw on one of our news sites that you can park at the fairgrounds and take a shuttle to the house I always assumed the crowds in the background were just neighbors, friends of the family, etc...
mom21kid2dogs replied: They were in Columbus OH (about 45 miles away from us) last year. It was a very big deal. I never watch the show but it sounded very cool!
My2Beauties replied: They were in my area not too long ago and the house they built was beautiful. A couple people in my DH's family got to go help out and a friend of mine's husband got to help build the house because he is a contractor. It's so neat. Our show doesn't air until this Spring.
