Fever - Day 12

amynicole21 wrote: This is getting very tiresome. sad.gif Nora is still having fevers in the 103 range and the doctors don't know what to make of them. Viruses don't last this long, and she's been on heavy duty antibiotics for 4.5 days now. At the doctor's office yesterday, I was told that if she still had a fever today that we may need to admit her to the hospital to run tests and put her on IV antibiotics. bawling.gif I'm waiting to hear back from the doctor as to what we do now. sleep.gif

Please keep my baby in your thoughts.

coasterqueen replied: Oh gosh Amy. I am so sorry. hug.gif hug.gif I hope her fever goes down really soon. How is she acting? Is she still eating/nursing ok, diapers ok, actions, etc ok? Is Sophia running a fever at all? I assume you are keeping her home so she's not being re-exposed to anything at daycare.

Gosh, pt's coming your way, hun. hug.gif hug.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: hug.gif Poor Nora and mommy. sad.gif I hope it goes away soon and she doens't have to go to the hospital! hug.gif

amynicole21 replied:
Thanks, Karen. She's fine as long as she's drugged up on Motrin, but as soon as it wears off she gets a fever again and is very fussy and miserable. sad.gif She's also weaning, so is down to about 1 session a day and I really don't think she's getting much from that. She is drinking juice, water and milk - but her diapers aren't as wet as they should be. We're really trying to get fluids in her.

The doc just called and wants to give her a second antibiotic shot. They still think it's pneumonia. Sophia and DH and me are all fine - knock on wood!

DansMom replied: Oh Amy, I'm sorry to hear that Nora is still suffering. That is a long time to battle fevers. I hope the shot will do the trick. hug.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: hug.gif hug.gif I'm sending lots of prayers out to you! I hope Nora starts to feel better soon! hug.gif hug.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: oh poor thing and mommy to. I hope she feels better soon.

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Sending my thoughts and prayers. I hope Nora gets soon better. hug.gif

luvmykids replied: Oh poor baby, and you too. I hope they figure it out and it clears up. P&PT's to all of you hug.gif

jacobsmama replied: Dang Amy, I hope that she starts feeling better. About 3 months ago Jacob had a fever like this lasted for about 15 days off and on depending on meds. He was also on antibiotics for about a week. They kept saying it was virus and I was thinking the same thing about it shouldn' t be lasting this long. I know what you are going through I'm so sooooooooory for you both.

I'm praying for her that she gets feeling better VERY soon! hug.gif

sunrosejenn replied: hug.gif anytime Eliana has a fever we are straight into the pedi's. 2 weeks ago she had one and sure enough it was an ear infection. 12 days is too long to have a on going fever. might be a good idea just to take her to the ER and not wait anymore. Good Luck! hug.gif

jcc64 replied: How scary for you, Amy. That is a long time to be running a fever, but I do believe there are probably viruses that can last that long. If I'm not mistaken, there are 2 types of pneumonia- one is bacterial and one is viral. I had the viral kind when I was a kid and was sick for over a month.
I would be asking for lots of blood work at this point, and maybe a 2nd opinion if your dr is out of ideas. In the meantime, big hug.gif

PrairieMom replied: hug.gif I hope they get some answers for you. They probably just have her on the wrong antibiotics. hug.gif

CantWait replied: hug.gif hug.gif
I'm sorry Amy. Hope everything is ok. 12 days certainly is a long time. sad.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
Ditto!

I'm so sorry, Amy. I hope the fevers subside soon. hug.gif She is in my thoughts and prayers. hug.gif

ediep replied: oh no Amy!!! Poor Nora!!!!

I sure hope you get some answers soon hug.gif

P&PT!!! hug.gif
