Fish delema
mckayleesmom wrote: Ok....I need some help with recipe's.....I have never liked fish to eat. Ever since I was a kid I have despised it. Of course I have never tried it since I was little.
Im making up a diet plan and dh said that I should try to add fish for variety...I tried to protest but then he said that we can try to cook it different ways to see if I would like it.
Anybody have any recipes for fish that is good? Also...maybe with not so much of a fishy taste...
Calimama replied: I usually just bake it with lemon pepper. It tastes pretty fishy though, sorry! If I come across any I'll let you know!
**What about tuna? Do you like that or Salmon?
mckayleesmom replied: I like tuna in a can....on sandwiches.....That is as fishy as I get.
CantWait replied: With salmon, I usually either put lemon pepper on it, and lemon. I don't know if you have a specialty spice shop around, they usually have yummy rubs for fish. I just made salmon the other day and on it I put a spread that had miracle whip (mayo), parm cheese, and pepper. It was pretty good.
A&A'smommy replied: tailapia marinated in Worcestershire sauce, a dash of lemon juice and covered with this seasoning you can get from Sam's club called Grill Creations (brand) and citrus grill cooked until done on 350 it tastes just like Maui Maui from fudpuckers to me. YUMMY
McKenna replied: My recommendation is Tuna, but not from a tin, buy a Tuna steak, bets to get it from the fishmonger, it's fresher then and tastes nicer, and cook it under a grill, pretty much like you would a beef steak.
Tuna is quite meaty and it tastes absolutely gorgeous when done under the grill and it's juicier than you might think. absoutely delicious.
Skate grilled with lemon juice sprinkled ontop when srerved is also damned nice and easy to eat as the bones are quite big and lie under the meat, so the meat comes off easily and you never have the problem of getting bones in with the meat in a mouthful.
gr33n3y3z replied: Fresh fish is best and not from a super market Cod,flounder, striper, drum and tuna fish(if all the deep dark red meat is cut off right and soaked in salt) have less fish taste to them
kit_kats_mom replied: I don't like fishy tasting fish either. we eat talapia, cod, grouper and salmon a lot around here. We'd love to eat more tuna steaks but they are kind of pricey. I usually cook our fish in the oven at about 350 with either a cajun spice on top, lemon pepper or citrus salt. my family loves it. We usually have fish with broccoli and rice at least twice a week and I've found that the frozen stuff from Publix is pretty good.
Other non fishy fish are amberjack, mahi mahi and shark.
my2monkeyboys replied: Grilled blackened salmon is one of my favorites!!! (Gave me an idea for dinner tonight....) Baked tilapia with lemon pepper is great too.
Our Lil' Family replied: Like many others I use lemon pepper and I also use the Lea & Perrin's sauce for fish and chicken, it used to be called white wine sauce but they changed the name and I'm out of it so I can't go look. It's next to the Worcestershire sauce.
TheOaf66 replied: are you just doing baked fish? adding spices and usually lemon juice take away the fishy taste.
If you are looking for something good good good try cooking it in some shore lunch. you can get that at a grocery store. My DW hates the taste of fish but we caught some Walleye and cooked in there and she liked it. But seeing as it is for diet not sure if you would go that route or not.
holley79 replied: Bri go downtown to Joe Patti's seafood. get boneless Salmon or Tuna steaks. Find you a marinade you like or ask them for a recommendation. I'm not a huge fish fan but I do like Tuna and Salmon steaks. When I made Tuna the other night I marinaded it in Italian parmesean (sp?) dressing for about an hour. I took it out of the marinade and sprinkled pepper/ garlic on both side. I heated up a cast iron pan with olive oil coating the bottom. When the pan was good and hot I laid the steaks in the pan. I let it sear on one side for about 2 minutes then flipped it to sear the other side. I flipped it back after the 2 minutes and just kept flipping it till the fish was cooked throughly. (This was sushi grade tuna but I am not a raw fish fan.) Dh had his not so cooked. Was really good and not fishy at all.
