Floam - Horrible, hideous invention

I wasn't going to spend $19.99 on the stuff, but when I found it for $4.99 at Bed, Bath and Beyond I figured "what the heck?" We opened it when we got home and it was like glue, so I figured it just melted in the car and we needed to let it set-up some more. A few hours in the fridge and we were ready to go! She and Nora played with it for about 3 minutes then wanted it off their hands because it stunk and was too sticky - I spent the next 20-30 minutes trying to remove it from their hands - a near impossibe task. It is so gooey and sticky and disgusting, you can't do anything with it but smear it from one hand to another. Horrid. It is now in the trash.
At least it was a good lesson in "false advertising" for Sophia. I beg of you all, DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE!
Miranda1127 replied: hahaha, Liesy begged for it too. we got it she played with it for an hour (it wasn't sticky, i think it had something to do w/ the melting and refrezing) and it picked up everything i did not know was even on the floor. its like slim (which i'm sure our parents loved) but not as gooey. anyway i threw it away after just one use.
Jamison'smama replied: You got some bad floam. We have it and although the kids don't love it, it's not messy at all.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Bummer! O plays with it all the time but we've never had a problem with it. My sister had a HUGE ball of it sitting on top of her fridge when I was there this weekend. Hers wasn't sticky, either. Wonder if there is a difference between colors or something?
sparkys2boys replied: Oh my..lol.. Logan has been begging for this stuff for ages!!! Guess thats my answer then.. NO WAY!!
Jamison'smama replied: I recommend Moon Sand---it never dries out and cleans up easily.
kit_kats_mom replied: we have some generic floam that MIL picked up for the girls at the dollar store. It's great. I've heard bad things about regular floam
MyBabeMaddie replied: I have never heard of it
luvbug00 replied: Yeah i made that mistake too
Brias3 replied: Really? We have Floam too and I don't find it sticky at all. In fact, Mason was trying to Floam my brand new sunglasses when we got it last summer and I almost had a heart attack (they were a brand new, expensive pair!) until I realized it didn't stick at all.
It's certainly not the kids favorite thing to do anymore (it lost its appeal after a few times of playing with it) but we didn't find it all that messy.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Kaitlin has some of the generic stuff, she played with it a few times but it deffinalty looses its appeal after a while
coasterqueen replied: Hmm, good reason for me to continue NOT to want to buy it. The expense has kept me away. I've not found it that cheap. I haven't even seen it in the dollar stores.
CantWait replied: Anthony has been begging for FLOAM also since Christmas time. Looked to messy, so I decided against it and got him the MOON SAND. Not the same and he still wants the FLOAM, but there's no way.
