Here is the situation I'm hoping for: Ivan looks like he's coming to FL...the inlaws get scared and leave...tomorrow....then Ivan veers north and heads to greenland or something. A girl can wish can't she? dry.gif blush.gif

jdkjd replied:
Well, YOU didn't have to stay with your In Laws. AND you got to see me, so I think you had it pretty good!

MomToJade&Jordan replied: You know. I don't think I can take much more of this. No I'm not in Florida, but most of my family is. This is getting pretty hard on the nerves. Hurricane Ivan is a Cat. 5. If this Hurricane were to hit Florida at it's current strength it will be WORSE then Charley. Did someone in Florida do something to get on Mother Nature's bad side? I have been reading all of the discussion and they are saying that the current track is not official. Apparently the steering currents are going to pretty much stop after the storm passes over Cuba. There are a couple of different computer models that are viewed to determine where a hurricane is going to go. Where Ivan goes at this point all depends on how weak or strong a ridge over the Bahamas is going to be. They say a strong ridge will push this thing into the eastern gulf and then possibly into the panhandle. A weaker one will steer the hurricane into the bahamas and then most likely into the Florida East Coast. Since all of the models are at a disagreement the current path is the one inbetween the two. So basically it is very uncertain where this hurricane is going to go after it passes Cuba. That is your weather lesson for the day. Just keep an eye on this thing guys and I hope it decides to weaken a bit before it hits land. Another thing I have learned over the years is that a hurricane has a peak strength and once it hits that they usually will die down a bit. Notice I said usually. Please don't take my word on that. I am thinking about you all please stay safe.

amynicole21 replied: They were reporting gusts of 210 MPH!!! Holy Cr@p! ohmy.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I just talked to my Mom and she told me that if this thing is coming their way they are going to go somewhere else. That makes me feel better. I don't think I would be able to stand it if my family stayed in the house for a Cat 5. It just isn't going to be able to withstand that. Yeah gust over 200mph is going to be typical for act 5. Oh please let this thing die a bit before it hits land.

amynicole21 replied: This hurricane did a number on the tiny island of Grenada... it destroyed the jail there and all of the prisoners escaped and are running around the island! ohmy.gif These are the same militants we put in jail when the US went into Grenada in the 80s. There are reports of prisoners arming themselves with machetes and roaming the streets. Not to mention that 90% of the homes there are destroyed or damaged. sad.gif How horrible.

kit_kats_mom replied:
If I hadn't heard that on the news, I'd have thought that you'd pulled that description off of a video game box. That is awful. Hurricane's bring out the best and worst in people.

~CrazieMama~ replied: Hey yall...... here is an update on Ivan......

You can click on the drop down menu to get to the projected path. Unfortunately, I live in a wooden house right down the street from a canal that goes to Lake Okeechobee and that inturn goes all the way out to the Gulf of Mexico. We Floridians need alot of prayers as well as those in Jamaica. Those poor people can not hardly handle a category 1 hurricane and they are gonna get slammed with a powerful category 4. And it may strengthen after going over Cuba. Please pray for this monster to turn and fizzle out.

MommyToAshley replied: My thoughts and prayers are will all of you on Florida... I hope this thing turns the other way.
