For the organizationally challenged ... - Which are you?

luvmykids wrote: Just curious, I'm trying really hard to get a grip on the house, organization, time, etc. I really want to cut down on the daily chaos but can't decide what the root of the issue is, if I'm just a slob and should accept it, except that I didn't used to be this way!

If you're a slob, or naturally "messy" how did you come to accept it? Or did you change it? Whats the difference between a slob and someone that just has too much going on?

TheOaf66 replied: I consider myself one who has "lived in" space where as my wife would disagree completely...she thinks I'm a slob.

AlexsPajamaMama replied: Slob= IMHO You dont care that things are a mess
Unorganized and slob to me are two differant things.

BAC'sMom replied: My house is "lived in". When the kids leave for college I will get completely organized then. But my yard looks good and my flowers are blooming! biggrin.gif

luvmykids replied:
What does "lived in" mean for you? I ask because thats what I say, I have 3 kids 4 and under, of course it's a mess! But people usually roll their eyes at me and I wonder if I'm just justifying being a slob or if I'm not so bad after all?

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Well I couldn't vote, because I'm an organized anal freak!! blush.gif My house is "lived in", I guess, because nothing is really all that new looking (hand-me-down furniture for the most part), but I keep everything in a very neat place.

There are people you can hire to help you get organized. I'm almost thinking of starting a business myself if I ever could find the time. I keep a lot of it in my head, but the best advice I can give is to write lists. I make a list of "to-dos" and check it constantly. I keep one list by my desk and another on the kitchen counter. I do the same for groceries. Must have a list before I go and I stick to it. People would call me nuts, but I used to plan events and I must say, I was good at staying on top of things!

BAC'sMom replied:

It means that when I get home fom working 8 hours today that there will more than likely be toys, back packs and kids shoes on the living room floor. There will be a few dishes in the sink, I’ll have clothes in the dryer that need to be folded and clothes that need to be washed. My desk will be stacked up with kids papers and bills/ receipts that I need to go through and either file or throw away. Things get stacked up during the week.

I doubt very seriously your being a slob just a busy Mom of 3.

luvmykids replied:
I hope you're right LOL! Our house gets worse than yours but then again we're all here all day so I guess it would, I think if I can get all of us in the habit of putting things away when we're done with them that would help a lot. blush.gif

btw-I bet your yard is gorgeous!

luvbug00 replied: My room is Orginized chaos..

Brads room belongs in a macys' show room.

TANNER'S MOM replied: I love neat and organized.. but my house is also lived in..and I wouldn't have it any other way. It is not messy to the point you wouldn't want to eat in my home..and it's not so spotless you feel uncomfortable letting your kids play..it's a home..and a friendly home is what I love!

holley79 replied: Let me put it to you this way. DH calls me Hurricane Holley. rolling_smile.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: I have a 3 on/1 off system that seems to be naturally ingrained in me. For 3 weeks my house will be neat but still lived in (usually needs to be dusted or floors mopped or something) then for 1 week I will be a lazy slob and my house will be a mess. I have never done this intentionally - it's just the way things always turn out.
