Mommieto2Girls replied: It all depends on the age. Maddie is 9 months old and we go through about 2 1/2 cans every 2 weeks. She drinks 252 ozs every two weeks. Took a minute to figure out. lol

Ment to ask, how old is Mckaylee ?

Schnoogly replied: Well Iain is only supplemented with formula (gets about half breastmilk) and we go through a can a week, give or take. He gets alimentum too so I'm glad it's not more than that!!! It's about 16oz a day.

mckayleesmom replied: Mckaylee will be 2 months on the 22nd,,She gets breast milk and some formula at night,,but lately I have had to pump my breast milk for her cause my nipples keep inverting and she gets frustrated and hits my boob away. I was just wondering cause I was thinking about switching her to formula. I hate to do it, but I just don't think its for us. I like it sometimes and then sometimes I just get really frustrated with it. Plus she will take the formula ( which she usually only gets for her first night feeding) and breastmilk equally, but she always seems to be alot more hungry on breastmilk and wants to eat and eat and eat,,like it don't fill her up. So I don't know,,Trying not to quit though.

Mommieto2Girls replied: There are some kind of plastic shells you can wear for inverted nipples. Keep trying don't give up. I did when Maddie was born and I wish I hadn't. I only tried for the first 2 days and the LN told me it probley wouldn't work and she was so hungry so we had to give her a bottle. Then she just wouldn't even try to latch on.

mckayleesmom replied: I am trying not to quit, probably won't,, just have to vent sometimes,,,last weeks she did really good and I thought we had it down, I have tried the shells, they don't work on me. I think sometimes my nipples don't want to cooperate. Sometimes I think I just need people to yell or chew me out for wanting to quit. Maybe I will call my mom tonight....SHe breast fed 5 kids so Im sure she will give me an earfull...lol

mummyof2boyz replied: Wow, I got a piggy! Hayden is 8 months old today!!!! He eats about six 6oz bottles a day...that would be about 500oz every 14 days!!!!!!! omg. Ok. I think it is time to up the solids. hehe

And I don't think you are under feeding her. She is healthy and gaining weight? Then she is eating enough. I am not kidding when i say I got a piggy. he he He weighs 26lbs. lol

Schnoogly replied: Please don't quit! I am kinda obsessive about BFing, and wish so hard that I could exclusively breastfeed. Just think of all the money you are saving by not formula feeding! It really adds up. Not to mention the ease of not constantly washing bottles and mixing formula all the time. Also, when you go out you don't have to worry about storing formula, if you have enough, where to warm it etc. It is hard at the beginning, especially if you are having problems, but do find out if there are LLL meetings in your area--the other moms can give you so much encouragement! I never thought Iain would latch on either but after about 4-6 weeks he became a pro and loves it so much, I would never take it away from him. You will be throwing away the #1 baby soother--your boobs! Soon she will seek out your nipple on her own and it will become much more comfortable. Those nipple shells will work--here is the link to medela's website about them.

mckayleesmom replied: Ya, actually reading how hard it was for you makes me not want to quit, cause I should cherish that I can,,and I do,,I just need to be put in my place sometimes. Plus I don't want to quit cause shes starting to do this cute thing where she swings her body into the cradle position to nurse and she smiles at me when shes nursing alot. So I am going to keep trying.

MomofTay&Sam replied: Sammy is almost 7 months and he drinks about 24ounces a day..Less than that most days. He is eating more food than anything and would rather have the cup than the bottle. (except the early morning bottle which he sucks down) LOL

Well, I'm one to root ya on too!! I've done EBF for all four kids - and working on #5 in August.....this is the first time I've had one nurse so long, though, and I have truly enjoyed the older years!! Hang in there, don't give up, and if you need a cheering section (can't say I believe in chewing ya out!) just let us know, that's what we're here for!!

Heather replied: Alison has about 20-24 ounces a day. Lately, she has been eating like a piggy. So, I am thinking she is going through a growth spurt. This is our last can of formula than we are weaning to regular milk.

Anyway, Jason eats about 4-5 bottle of about 6-7 ounces each per day. His ped said yesterday, that most babies his age should be getting less formula and more food, but jason is not that interested in food lately.

Maddie hasn't been that interested in food at all latly either. But last night was the first time she ate 8ozs of food. I couldn't believe it. I gave her simple recipe carrots and beef and pear and pineapple but without the rice cereal in it and she loved it.

Wow , there must be alot of tall people in your family. lol I have noticed there are alot of tall babies here and big babies.

mummyof2boyz replied: Yeah, there are. My dad is 6'2"and my 2 brothers are around the same. I am tall for a women I am 5'10" DH is about 5' 11". He has already passed up DS #1 when he was Haydens age.
